I hope that my granddaughter will study in the STEM fields and have a long and successful career. I graduated from high school in the late 70’s, from a very poor and small school district. I have always been very proud of my female classmates and friends who have pursued STEM careers. They have been shining stars of our class, and I couldn’t be more proud of their accomplishments. I want to salute Lori, Kit, Becky, Rhonda and Tami for their incredible careers and contributions to a better world! Well done!

Used to sit on my compaq computer in the 90s staring at the Seti app she launched as a teen. Had the opportunity to sit in on a Tarter lecture while an astronomy student in college at Arizona. Ellie Arroway and Dr. Tarter played a major part in my becoming a scientist. Trailblazer to lady scientists, right up there with Vera Rubins and Tanya Atwater for me!
