I purchased a JKing board from Amazon and it has a total of 1800w with both motors and man that thing struggles. I'm a big dude and I have to put it on a level 4 to get moving around. My meepo mini is fun a really torque-y, but can get kind of sketch with higher speeds hence getting the Hurricane 2 in 1. Can you get tubeless tires for the Hurricane 2 in 1? Also, the JKing board did have one feature which was nice and it was a air-less AT tire. Can you buy a style like this? Never rode with air-filled tires, so I could be asking for a cheese sandwich when I never had a Cheeseburger, if you know what I mean.

Hurricane can swap out tires, so you can put AT tires in that are pneumatic tires. You can also swap out to street urethane wheels as well. I’m 220lbs and the hurricane is crazy powerful. Enough to get me up to 30mph easily

But that's personal preference of course. But having a bit of a skater background (you as well) then you love the feel and freedom of it. Pity the geardrive doesn't support streets. That would make it more interesting for current market. Also good you mentioned it that you got the molicels. Because Meepo silently swapped them to 40T. I'm really not up for that. Too sneaky. 40T is a great cell, but the P42A's are just a bit better. Loved the honest and deep video! Like always, keep it up and stay safe amigo 🫶🙌🤙

I purchased 2 of the Meepo Hurricane Carbon AWD Gear drive that came with the 165S Future Tubeless wheels. The Pros: traction is good and they can easily go over small debris and cracks in the pavement like nothing I've ever seen before. The Cons: They are very unstable when you get around 24 MPH. The rubber is soft, too soft and simple thorns from bushes will puncture them. Two of my 8 wheels did not hold pressure from the first time I filled them up with one going flat in about 8 hours and one going flat every 5 days or so. Meepo's support is trash, I reported this to them a month ago and just got a notification they shipped a replacement wheel from China. In my experience everything ships from China even though they claim to have a US based warehouse. The boards took 70 days to arrive so that was nice. Also the acceleration from the ESC is not very linear which really matters when your board has four 3,500 watt motors. you can configure the acceleration, I have 1st gear at 5%, 2nd gear at 10%, 3rd gear at 15% and 4th gear at 20%.

I'm wondering if I missed you talking about the difference in The noise each system mix. I have a Backfire Ranger X3 with nice silent hub motors. I want to know If the Meepo Hurricane GEAR drive system is as quiet as the Backfire X3? The only change I would make would be pneumatic tires. But I'm very close to also getting a mepo hurricane gear drive but afraid the noise will bother the heck out of me

  • @DrewElia

    @DrewElia

    Жыл бұрын

Hey thanks so much for the comment! Really appreciate it! So hub drive will always be the quietest system out there, gear drive and belt drives vary in sounds pending on motors that they use. Some motors can scream and others can be more quiet. But that being said, gear drive makes a unique noise, one that I would say isn’t overwhelming or a annoying. I do like it, but if you’re looking for the quietest system than hub drive is your best bet, but performance wise gear and belt drive are better than hub drive. I hope that helps! I’m not 100 % sure if you can, swapping out the bearings should allow you to fit them onto a 12mm axel as long as those bearings fit your standard size bearing of any AT wheel if that makes sense. There are motor adjustments for belt tension, it’s the three screws on the motor mount. You loosen them up and than put the belt on along with the pulley, than push back and tighten one of the screws to your desired tightness. Then tighten down the other two this should work. Than put the wheel on and tighten that, I hope that helps a bit! If you haven’t subscribed and find this content useful please give it a thumbs up and subscribe!!

The ultra was a bit of a step down in some areas and a step up in others. But hurricane is still a fan favorite and knowing I can still hit 30-35 mph is PLENTY of power for most people. @DrewElia well drew it has the same motors esc and battery specs, but the gears are 2:3 cruiser gears. I'm supposed to lose acceleration in lieu of top speed but at 155lbs with 150mm solid tires on the cnc rims I am unable to pull off a full throttle launch. Omni makes a lot of parts other manufacturers use. Their complete really is a culmination of best in slot legendary orange pickups. I highly recommend you ride one

Hey drew. Im new to “buying” an electric board. My friend has a bunch if meepo boards including hurricane belt drive. Love it. What do you suggest i get. I live in vt. Lots of hills. Looking for distance. Not huge carver, but do some. And want distance and speed.

First off, your handle name….that’s a lot 😆 well since you like meepo, the voyager from them with provide you with a lot of range and a ton of power. It’s stable enough at high speeds and can carve as well, I dont know what your price range or anything but there are a TON of options out there. Check out the channel for more reviews let me know what else is on your mind.

but which is better, belt drive or gear drive?

Better is in the eye of the beholder! Gear drive has its pros, low maintenance, no snapping belts, but it has its cons, fixed gear ratio so changing wheels you can’t gear them to be faster or more torque. Belt drive has more maintenance, belt tension, belt snapping, cleaning out the Little Rock’s and pebbles, The pro is the changing of gears giving you customization of top end speed and torque.

@@DrewElia I've got around 4000 miles on my belt driven boards and I've never snapped a belt or had a little rock stuck in there so let's say those aren't gonna be issues for me. In that case my question is, which feels better to ride?

that's a really good question. A good tension belt is really nice. With gear drive the less rolling resistance also is great, you don't get a jerky motion when accelerating or breaking. It really is a hard choice to make! I love a good gear drive when done properly. I also like the ability of changing out gearing on my belt drive systems. makes a board feel completely new and different when you swap out wheels and gearing.

I'd buy the hurricane ultra gear drive ..but meepo scammed and put a weaker smaller battery in them a 40t??? WHY WOULD A COMPANY MAKE A NEWER BOARD WITH A WEAKER WORSE SMALLER BATTERY? that alone makes me not buy it ..I'll go buy a tynee exporer or eavon gts ..both less $$ and bigger battery more power ...sorry meepo you messed up

So, I understand your frustration and it’s true they did put the Samsung 40t batteries in it, I would honestly say to an average customer they wouldn’t tell the difference between the boards. The 40t have a great discharge rate but I see your frustration. Never have tried the tynee or Eovan I can’t compare but they do look like fun solid boards.

The batteries are very similar, hardly a difference, 40t is still one of the best you can buy. My theory is they switched the batteries so they make the battery better, since some people had problems with the old one.

Belt drive is a way better system. Quieter, easy to maintain. Gear drive is just a fad.

Belt drive definitely has its place in the world, but so does gear drive, companies are really spending some time with RnD to create some great gear drives. So I wouldn’t completely rule it out. Like off roading, I’d rather deal with gear drive, belts could easily snap on roofs or branch’s but for a 2-1 board belts all day, swap out the gearing by changing the pulley

the gear drive has more torgue than the belt drive does...? i thought belt drive had more torque? jesus, now i dont know what to buy =[

So hear drive low end is more torque but they gear drive doesn’t allow you to change out the ratio so if you are looking to use street wheels or want to be able to swap around your gearing. Go with the belt drive, you’ll be happy with either but I love using a 2-1 as a 2-1 being able to swap wheels and change my gearing.
