Love the video Drew, you did an awesome job with all the installation! Well done! So for the tools, I think our engineer was assuming our clients kept all the original tools from their hurricane, and I believe that's why they didn't add additional tools to the gearbox tool set.

Good morning, I have a Hadean Evolve and I currently have Meppo wheels without an air camera, it looks good using a 335-5m belt, but I'm thinking of buying this Meppo Gear to join the wheels, but I'm wondering if the Meppo gear is compatible with evolve hadean can you tell me something about it friend? and if I make this exchange, what will I gain as an advantage for the belts?

You have explained it well, it looks good in the video, but... uffff, I find it complicated... I hope one day I can try the Hurricane Ultra and, if possible, already have the new system on. hahaha. Good video.

Ok so I had the belt drive system with the racing wheels and it was a pain to switch over. I broke both grub screws.when I took the pulley’s off I couldn’t use the same screws cause they are too long now so I had to take a few screws off my front wheels to make it work. FYI if you deflate the wheels it will be way easier. I’m not trying to complain I just want people to be aware.

Did you have to drill out the grub screws in order to get the pulley off? I also broke my first grub screw, I’m taking my time with the second one and I’m using pentrating oil to try and get the bolt to loosen up a bit.

Update, I had no luck drilling it out since the metal is so strong, so instead I just used the pulley tool and forced it off which broke the bolt but it was the only way

Thanks so much! Time will tell I’m doing testing of it as we speak, I’ll put out my review video some point next week hopefully. I love my mad wheels, but there is a time and place for them, these meepo wheels are seriously like riding on a cloud, grip for days and a awesome comfort level. Stay tuned more to come!

No sadly you can’t! The motor guards were built into the old motor mounts! So when you remove everything you loose that bash guard. Trade offs, I’m sure some where down the line someone will come up with something! Thanks for the comment and checking out the channel though!

So, if I want to put 160mm airless tires on my gear drive meepo that came with 175mm pneumatic tires, can I just swap them and that’s it? Do I need to find tune anything else?

You can put AT style wheels on the ultra but not street wheels just make sure that it fits the adapter listed on the website I believe

It's a pity that you have video does not show how to install the rest of the installation kit

Hello, What wheels are you using on the meepo and where to buy pulleys?

These are theirs tubeless tire wheels, they come with their own CNC pulley on them. Check out their website

Which would you recommend Meepo Cyclone 165 tubeless, racing wheel, or AT set for the hurricane. And if you had a rating what would it be for value per dollar for each wheel.

The tubeless and racing wheels are similar feel, though the tubeless does provide a really nice grip, overall comfortable and grip goes to the tubeless. Other AT style wheels are the HOTA 6” I love those for overall price performance. But grip and comfort king tubeless wins. If you haven’t yet please subscribe for more content coming out!

⚡ *No instructions* for gear drive setup 😮⚡ and they didnt give the right tools, those tools 😭 that gear drive looks awesome but I've been surprised at not seein more grease inside. I do feel like gear drive from the budget brands is better suited to those with some DIY experience, not for the average rider but long term use will reveal whether that's true or not. Awesome video dude.

Yeah, no instructions just open box and slap them on. It’s fairly straight forward but there we’re definitely some points that I needed to pull out my own tools and use my mechanical skills. It didn’t look like it in the video but it did come pre greased, and it’s not to complicated to open up and slap more grease inside! Thanks my dude always appreciate your comments

@@DrewElia I've seen a Lot more grease in the DIY world of gear drive so was surprised at how little grease there is in the Meepo

I can’t figure out how to get the gear on the motor. Is there some trick to that? It won’t go all the way down.

You have to grease the motor shaft and than tap it down with a rubber hammer if you have one if not a price of wood placed on top of the gear and hammer it down to get it flushed with the shaft and gear

This can be used on any diy! It’s got great low end torque but the top speed is capped at around 31mph so just be aware of that! If you haven’t subscribed yet please make sure to do so for more content coming out!!

I believe the gear drive is compatible with the evolve system, your gains over belt is more lower torque and less maintenance over a belt system, though you lose the ability to use street tires Or urethane wheels once you put the gear drive system on

if u showed what kind of screws u used that be great and is there a screw on the the cug that you remove from the motor ??? if there is u could show removing it cuz i think my shit bbroken now not a tool for it so i just pulled them offfff

I used a torch to heat up the screw. One of the sides I just used the supplied puller and just spilt the screw in half!

Why wouldn’t that be key information to put in the video? “Like hey here’s how you install the new motor drive but you’ll never be able to get it installed cuz I left a key piece of the instructions out.”

Just got the 165 tubeless cyclones today and totally dissapointment. The wheels would vibrate pass 24mph like so much that it felt unsafe. I also told them that i need 360mm belt for my explorer but they insisted that the 340mm belt would work which it didnt. I was really looking forward to these but instead i got a $325 failure. Lol

That's not Meepo Hurricane Ultra. That's just Meepo Hurricane + gear-drive and nothing else. Meepo Hurricane Ultra is not a Hurricane with gear-drive. It's a customized Hurricane with the option to chose between gear-drive and belt-drive, between bamboo or carbon deck that has a different design than the original one, between tkp or dkp truck, between 2 different batteries and with different choices of wheels including the new 165 mm tubeless Cyclone ones. Meepo Hurricane Ultra is all of that. Next time I see a deceiving title like this, I unsuscribe. I don't like that kind of trick. Bad point for now.

Well my man, truth is that the ultra carbon is just the same as the original hurricane. Your right that you can choose the trucks and the gear or belt drive but that’s just it. The original hurricane has the P42a configuration battery pack in it. That you can’t get with the ultra. So that being said if you picked the hurricane ultra carbon, DKP, gear drive, new tires….you would end up with this exact set up as I have in front of me. So it’s not deceiving at all when I truly converted my hurricane into the ultra with a few upgrades. Gear drive and tubeless tires system. I hope you understand that, meepo sent all this out to me with that intention of allowing people to “upgrade” to the ultra. The new bamboo deck and TKP is truly the newest edition of the hurricane line up.

@@DrewElia It's the same if you chose carbon deck, dkp and belts. But even this way, there is still a difference in the design of the deck that just makes it clear to everyone it is the Ultra version, not the original Hurricane. And if someone prefers this deck, yes he has to go on Meepo store and order an Ultra not a Hurricane. And Ultra is also all these other options you can chose, biggest difference being the bamboo deck for me, even before the gear-drive. Sorry but I maintain the title is deceiving. This video should have been called "Upgrading Meepo Hurricane with gear-drive" or something like that. But it would still not be exact, because is gear-drive really an upgrade as you said in your answer ? I wouldn't say so. It's just a different set up than belt-drive.

I have the new grip tape, they sent it to me as well, if I put that on does it make a difference to you that it’s a ultra? You wouldn’t tell the difference at that point than. But I did say that this was a gear drive installation along with tires. This carbon deck is the exact same as the ultra carbon deck with new grip tape design, no dimensions difference or anything. I agree the bamboo deck is the biggest upgrade to the new hurricane. But they didn’t send that to me, only the gear drive and new tires. Hence turning this into a carbon hurricane ultra, I promise you that there is no difference between them, in fact this is better because it does have the better battery system with the p42a vs the 40t or the 18650 set up. So this technically has better performance than the newer ultra.
