NFTs are just buckets that hold arbitrary data that a person can verifiably own. It doesnt have to include a jpeg. Look up NFT ticketing, NFT gaming, tokenization of certificates, theres plenty more to it than art (and all its flaws)

I mean the ideology behind crypto is the privatization of money in the hands of a few wealthy that accumulate wealth from a limited currency. The concentration of btc is already insane being 0.01% of wallets own 27% of bitcoins. It might be the case that some of those wallets are funds but it still shows the amount of concentration within krypto currencies.

@@skulley6361 do you understand how the federal reserve works? They PRINT money at will and can print it infinitely (these very words admitted by Jerome Powell). The government's then BORROW this made up money from the fed AT INTEREST. They then OWE the fed. The government's then use this to prop up banks and for public spending. The banks then LEND money at interest. Which you, the end user, pay back. Ultimately, we are all paying back the government's debt to the fed, for its MADE UP money. Bitcoin at least is a closed loop. Only 21 million, can never be any more. The fed can't just debase it like they are with USD right now.

Do you understand that there is a difference between state dept and private dept and that no one of us has to pay back the dept of the state? Read up modern monetary theory and learn about how money works post gold standard instead of repeating the same unfounded beliefs.

It also shows how little you understand about the system you want to save me from because modern day capitalism meaning constant growth of production and consumerism because of the profit motor doesn't go hand in hand with a deflationary currency. Deflation will cause a decline in terms of investions from the private sector cause holding back your money and not giving it into the economy means gaining in capital. Less investions leads to less people being employed that than will have less money to consume and put into economy which will cause more unemployment and so on and so forth. In a capitalist system this deflationary spiral pretty much means state wide crisis. If you really want to change the system start by analyzing the problems that have been caused by capitalism where wealth is being distributed disproportionate and concentrated for a few in combination with neoliberal policies that deregulated the finance market, privatized public commodities for profit factors, let down taxes favoring the upper class like capital gains and weakened labor unions. Those are real systematic issues that harm people's lives on a daily basis and not some conspiracy bs of a money printing central bank. Having a limited currency in the present state would lead to even more and more economic inequality due to the fact that no more money can be created to be distributed to the people so that a fixed amount is being send off from bottom to top. Bitcoin and other crypto currencies will greatly increase the already existing inequality. The privatization of money and therefore de-democratization is the wet dream of libertarians like elon musk and others world wide and I will not be an useful idiot for this cause.

I always thought of NFTs as anti-art. But not in a provocative way, rather in a dystopian late stage capitalism kinda way. There's nothing artsy about churning out visually unappealing ugly ass mutated monkey illustrations made within 5 minutes with the sole intent of selling them to an exclusive group of rich people. And it's not like the rich people are happy that they're owning some outrageous art that they enjoy looking at, they don't care about the looks for flexing. They only care about the digital ownership, the receipt. It could be a picture of a literal turd as long as it's worth some money. That's fucking insane to me. From an aspect of monetary gain this may be viable to some but from an art perspective it's absolutely gruesome - especially with music. Oh yeah and it's bad for the environment too.

Completely understand an artist wanting to make a profit off their music, however, I don't feel this is the way. Although streaming isn't the best revenue source, I have to assume its better than trying what Meek is trying to accomplish with this release. The only way I listen to new music is either on a streaming platform or KZread, so I feel that the latter might be a better source of creating profit through ad revenue.

Behind a paywall of lets say 1 million dollars. Then somebody with the funds trying to get their name out to the press or in these days social media buys it and gets the distributing option. The artist make their money and the new owner can upload it to a site and get an advertising deal going on that site. Everyone profits. With NFTs this would be even easier
