Great memory Larry. Crazy , my mom was a prison guard and she was a good guard. She told me she always felt safe because the prisoners would protect her. She has passed but I remember her stories . Thank you for the great stories

It's crazy, only doing a few days or a week in jail and then getting to a prison yard for the first time is nothing like you'd expect. Jail sucks, prison (depending where you are) is infinitely better. There's a lot to do, you can be outside, work out have a job. As long as you treat people with respect, stay in your lane and handle yourself like a man you'll be ok. Unless you have a fucked up charge or are an informant.

When he was talking about cooking pasta for ten guys and cutting garlic really thin it reminded me of the part where they go to jail in goodfellas

You know that that is though? That is pure frustration. People will behave and act normal when they are not being tortured, like inmates are by the guards. In prison people are indeed cool and respectful for the most part, its when a guards fucks with you on purpose to set you off and you cant do shit about it. I had some guards try to set me off, but they will never win. They never knew I was in the Marine Corp. Try to mess with my head all you want, your not going to touch a DI. Guard tells me to jump, I will jump how ever high he wants, most other inmates will say fuck you to the C.O. , grats on the more time you just got and the spot light you put in yourself. People who killed another person, ya it is true most of those people are good people like anyone else.. Think about being put into a situation that would set you over the edge..someone hurts your wife or kids.. youll go insane and probably severely hurt someone.

Everybody makes mistakes in their life, but not many people are straight up and honest about it. We need more honesty in this world and you are a great example of how to be an honest person. M.R. was OK, until my final year when I consented to "treatment" which was a year of psychological torture, followed by another year of the same in a halfway house.

Never done any hard time or at any high level facilities but I’ve been locked up in county jails.. I can remember pretty much almost anything that happened while in lockup. I think it has to do with you are more aware of what’s going on. Wouldn’t say high alert but for myself I never felt like I was on auto pilot or jus dragging myself through the day. I Myself was constantly thinking or planning the small things I’d have or could do that day or ever the next few days but I always had my mind focus on something. Think that has something to do with it. Plus you have such few things to do an entertain yourself that everything is interesting in a way

@@outdooraquatics8627 I think it’s cuz most guys live bland, monotonous lives. Every day is the same, so it’s hard to remember one day from the next. When you’re in extreme situations, details just pop and stick in your brain.

Man every one of these videos just can’t help but make me smile for those happy parts and even feel for those rough spots in the story telling. I love the ending of each video where you just start talking on your own and I just can’t help but think what a stand up guy you are Larry. Love the videos man, and hope to meet you some day some how.

I love how the guards were so cool with you cooking the pasta.

Oil and garlic. This was a family favorite before I left home when I was a kid. I learned how to make it but it’s not as good as my mothers. I never been to prison. But I’ve been loving your videos Larry! Great stuff. 👍

I can come back and watch these anytime these are some great stories summarized very well by Lawton I guess you can say I’ll never forget this series

I love listening to Larry‘s storys. The way he describes everything; I mean he really paints a picture. Also that second medium prison in Georgia seems pretty great, I don‘t hear a lot of storys about nice guards.

It must feel so good to be able to tell these stories in freedom. I can’t imagine. You have been through so much I’m sure it hard to coordinate all the memories. Thanks for sharing.

Having been abused in the juvenile justice system, and now looking at state time , I find your cause a very noble one, that I relate to well. You are doing tremendous amounts of good seen and unseen. We can bring the corrupt system down with more people like yourself. God bless and thank you for all the advice

I do the opposite. I play his videos as background to fall asleep and listen to! Not in a bad way as if he's boring. It's like listening to an audio book or something. The guys cool as fuck.

Larry, I respect the hell out of you. I'm a doctor and your stories provide so much insight and perspective that I greatly appreciate.

I look forward every Thursday and Sunday for these videos, I really dont want them to end. I reccomend a series where you do a video going over each heist you did that you remember. Also, when I get paid next I'm definitely going to get a larry Lawton mug for my desk setup!

I'm kinda the same. Usually I'm really calm and it's hard to make mad, but if this happens, it's like preasure building inside you, you try to keep it under control and at some point you explode, you can't control yourself, you hitting stuff, breaking stuff, just like he described. It's not like I never get angry normally though, I do, but normally I'm more calm than others. I also capable of some sort of planned violet outburst like him beating a guy, you just keep your anger iside untill you able to release it, almost never had to do that though, luckily I never was inside such environment as prison.

You will remember that by which you are shaped the most. In other words, events that have the biggest impact on your life will be hard to forget. Prison is certainly one of those events lol

Out of all of your videos, this is my favorite story.

Of course Larry's biggest incident in prison is making pasta and trying to get his cellmate out of trouble.

You're a fantastic story teller Larry, I find these so interesting! Before I got too ill to work I worked with Young Offenders and loved my job, my Brother works in the prisons her in the UK too. It's a bit different from your US prisons but it's still really interesting to hear how things work and how life can be in there. Great videos.
