Ive used this meditation for many months. It has helped me tremendously in terms of my growth. I find that trees, and plants are living organisms that dont really have the concept of ego. They are aspirational for me.

This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my KZread channel 6 months ago about self development. Now I have 537 subs and > 100 hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessons that I could haven’t learned without getting started in the 1st place.

I cant stop thinking my imagination always runs wild when i do stuff like this. Edit: My inner monologue only turns off for like one breath and then turns back on.

Man, as soon as I saw that, the choice was easy: click. I don't want to have an ego. It can lead to sadness even if you try to focus mostly/solely on being the best possible person to others, and don't feel like others care about it, even though you don't want even something in return for your trying to help others. Just a bit of love back and when you don't get it, your ego gets hurt a bit and it frustrates me so much because I don't want to have an ego.

I know exactly how you feel, my friend. I'm always ready to help anybody and really don't want anything in return - except a tiny bit of love. The way I grew up meant having to control important things that my parents somehow missed - so my ego took control and I really want to eliminate it now. Good luck to you and God bless you - I, for one, love you.

I am serious when I question you and your meditations assumption that there is something wrong with the ego, that it is your "false self". Assuming that you are not "genuine", that you are a "phony" and that you must dislike yourself because you have an "ego". You seem to believwrong about this,

Sigh. You are not genuine. No one is. We are all a product of our genetics, environment, upbringing, society, peers, biases, etc etc etc. When you stop and listen to the truly insane and petty voice in your head that gets upset when it is slighted, elated when it wins, competitive when others are around, then you are looking at your ego. When you realise that all the drives and motivations in your life can be attributed to this ego, for better or worse, then you can see what is truly beneficial and what is just plain stupid. THAT is your true self, the self that sees the false self.

From what I understood, in the buddhist tradition, one of the step towards the truth, if we are searching for it, is to "kill the ego". The world as we see it is full filled with illusion (maya). We have to deconstruct those illusions if we want to access the truth. And one of our main source of biases, is believed to be: "how we perceive ourselves". If, let say, I am not as good as my peers in my Maths class. By comparing myself to others, I may develop a biased opinion about myself. => I am stupid. (The opposite example works as well). Whereas a class with 30 students is a small sample size to draw such a general conclusion. Plus the concept of intelligence is broad. While deconstructing the ego, you try to unwrap all these misconceptions about yourself and how you perceive the world with biases. At the end you might physically and mentally understand that you re only an observer a conscious mind. That You re not a male or a girl or other gender , you re not a student/doctor/cleaner/cooker/scientist , you re not the one who lives in Berlin, you re even not the one who loves the lord of the ring. You re a very bad person and a very good person. So Yes, you may hate and love yourself during this process.
