I just saw the Boylei video where he used your tavern as the basis for his dragon attack diorama. This is one of the best collaborations I have ever seen! Your tavern is very well-crafted. The way you installed the 3D Printed doors and windows after adding the stonework at 2:38 looks a bit labor-intensive; but it's also a good reminder that sometimes in model building, there is no "royal road" to achieving the best results. Thanks for sharing this with us!

the build is amazing but what i loved the most are the little details like the little flower boxes on the windows and the little rat just chilling outside 😭 and the lantern and the little broom and the rag AAAAA i love everything about this tavern what you did with the bricks i swear it feels kinda like magic

What a great build! I especially loved the ranking plant (Wisteria? Wine?) and all greenery. The windows look like glass with that green paint, that’s really cool! My favourite detail is the little/actually quite big ratto. I love rats. 😊

Fun fact: If you lived in the medieval time you never wanted to walk under the overhanging part of a building. That was usually where the, uh hum, WC was. You'd end up having a "crappy" day if you did. If you were lucky they wouldn't have the funds to afford such extravagance. But do you take the chance. Could always look for a mysterious hole under the overhang.😂

This looks so cool! I'm glad this video got reccomended to me by KZread after watching the video from Boylei Hobby Time because I would have forgored to do it! Also, funny thing that happened as I was watching the video: when you were placing the potted flowers on the windowsills for some reason my first thought was that they were chickens. I don't know why, but my brain was just like "Ah, placing the chikens in the windowsills. Mmm, yes. Magnificent." :)

one question, I see model makers making individual bricks for their brick work a lot. When I was learning model making for theatre, what I was taught and what I still do when I make a model of a building, is to carve the brick detail into a piece of foam rather then cutting and gluing individually. I can't help but think "why would you work so hard if there is an easier way?" Is there some benefit that I'm missing to doing it this way?

That is an interesting question. This is just a guess, but when doing stone work like this build it allows you to create more texture to the surface by using "stones" of different thicknesses, not just different heights and widths. If you were making an actual brick wall, where you would expect the bricks to be all the same size it would certainly make more sense to just carve the brick detail in.

@@ChristopherDunkle you can get the same look with carving you just need a steady hand and a good sharp knife. My guess is because it's a subtractive process, you have to start with the final thickness and cut in as opposed to just adding to it. Suppose you could use a mix, cut into the foam for most of it, add an irregular block here and there.

I see Lief from Devs and Dice do brickwork that way too and I don't get it either. I am far more into the 'thin textured strip' camp. Especially now that you can heat it and press it with a greenstuff texture roller. Either that or use some silicone caulking and a texture roller like Black Magic Craft does. Still, you can't argue with the results. This piece looks great.

There are three reasons. The shape of the individual pieces fits better with fantasy style. Plus, in my opinion, it always looks cooler. The third reason... There's something meditative about it. Nice video! Now a question: Let's say there was an undetected leak or spill of the Kraut-Tac glue on my Fiskar mat, now it's still gluey and sticky probably 3 weeks after. How do i remove that?

You can “roll” it off the mat with your finger. It's like chewing gum. Then wipe with isopropanol.
