    Hey Nasir! I had 3 rejections straight away and only had one interview. And I mainly used the medic portal and your videos to prepare. And I actually got an offer!!!!! So thank you SO MUCH for all of your amazing and very informative videos, because they really did help me. Also thank you for talking the time to make these videos, you truly are a nice and caring person for doing all of this. Once again I cannot express my gratitude and I have recommended your videos to some of my friends who have also applied for medicine.

    Britney Herrera Heyyy! I mainly volunteered at nursing homes as you had to be 18 to get experience at the hospital/GP in my area and unfortunately I only turned 18 after submitting my ucas. The other experience was at a drugs and alcohol rehab mental health program run by the NHS and that was really good and useful. In my interview I mainly referred to my experience from the rehab program as it changed allot of my previous views on mental health concerned around these scenarios. I hope this helps 😊

    Thank you for these wonderful videos! This one made me think of a funny story related to communicating bad news after the demise of a pet under one's care: I was not part of this story, but heard it after the fact. When I was in home nursing, we had a client that a wonderful care aide got a beautiful Chinese Fighting Fish (?) for. "Sparky" lived in a bowl on the client's dining table where they could both see the TV, and he was "The smartest fish ever!". The client had to go on a trip, and the sweet care aide volunteered (with the permission of management), to stop in and feed Sparky each day. As Murphy's Law would have it, she came in one day and Sparky was belly-up in the bowl. The care aide quickly took Sparky's lifeless body to the pet shop and purchased another expensive body double, who was then moved into the real Sparky's home. When the client returned home and commented that "Sparky's" color seemed dull, she was told that he had been depressed while she was gone. Perhaps not the best example of authentic communication, but the illusion was complete, and Sparky (two) was reportedly happy with the arrangement. Thanks again for your wonderful channel!

    Hey, I have an interview at Leicester next months, can I ask if you could kindly give some advice?

  • @iStreaky

    @iStreaky

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@habibollahsaliani9383 tbh my biggest piece of advice would be stay calm and be yourself. They have you talk to a patient at one point and you can’t let the convo seem like a script of premade questions, keep the convo flowing and you’ll smash it. Other than that, make sure you know the nhs key principles, read the nhs constitution and know the 4 pillars of medical ethics and try to relate them to your answers if you can. As you can see I thought my interview went awful because I didn’t realise there was a back page of questions on the ethics station so I left it blank but I still got an offer (alhamdulillah) so don’t overthink anything. If one station goes bad move onto the next with your head held high and treat it like a separate thing. Be open and honest and treat it like a conversation. Also if you go onto the blackstone tutors website you can find all the questions on there, they matched the interviews for last year and the year before that and they don’t change them much year to year so it should be reliable. Good luck, you got this!!

    The fact that you said, "You might think losing a pet is stupid" really took me aback. Of course, there are sociopaths out there who don't understand that the death of thinking, feeling, living being with a personality who was a loved one would be horrible. But you saying that implies to me that you expect lots of medical students to have--or you yourself have--an anthropocentric view making any non-human animal an object, a view that is arbitrary, ignorant, and arrogant. I'm not saying that YOU are those things, but that statement does make me suspicious.
