Giuliano going to his brother to give him a knife whilst being stabbed is the single most powerful scene. It was both beautiful and saddening.

That scene just looked like a Renaissance art in a frame.

The actress of Lorenzo and Giuliano's mother did a really good job with that scream. I am italian and I saw the italian version on tv, and they didn't dub that, they just kept that scream. It was really powerful and gave me goosebumps

Sarah Parish is Amazing! I didn't know anything about her until this Awesome show & her performance as Lucrezia stood out for me. I have since watched her in numerous roles she has played. Medici is still my favorite though.

I love Clarice’s reaction Her first instinct is to protect her mother in law and not rush to Lorenzo It shows how level headed she is

I never realized this: Guiliano warned him that there were rumors of a possible attack and Lorenzo not listen to him, but then, when they were being attacked, Guiliano managed to get away from Francesco and grab a knife, he could have tried to figth back but he decided to run and give it to his brother because he knew that the main target was Lorenzo. Guiliano sacrificed himself for and to protect his brother, and Lorenzo had to live the rest of his life with that on his conscience

Historically Giuliano de Medici was far from helpless. He was the best fighter between the two, but had been wounded few days before, falling from the horse while hunting. The conspirators went to pick him up at home, to convince him to attend mass. Giuliano almost always wore the mail shirt, and carried his hunting knife, but in his condition, that day, that weight bothered him, so he had neither. One of the conspirators, as they met, hugged him, to make sure of that.

The way Guilano's mother keeps asking if they left him after he gets stabbed. My heart just broke 😭 It's obvious they can't go back out without facing certain death , but her mothers love overrides even the basic survival instinct.

Okay so I think this scene is heartbreaking and SO well acted by all of them, but also.. can we talk about how badass Clarice was hitting Francesco over the head with that heavy candelabra-thing? I can’t help but laugh every time she just goes “YEET”😂

Definitely one of the saddest and most heartbreaking scenes I’ve ever seen in a show. I loved his character so much. You can really feel the pain and tension from his whole family reacting to his death.

Lorenzo's true soul also died with Giuliano's death. Its hard watching Lorenzo in season 3 while thinking the season2-Lorenzo. His dreams, his visions, were buried with Giuliono, leaving him as a greedy, ambition, and ruthless man. I started to cry in the very last scene when he said to Sandro "All those years ago..." and all I thought were He, Giuliono, and Sandro shared laughed, drunk, and tried to make a better world😭

I would like to add something to this story. I remember watching a documentary about Lorenzo de' Medici when I was in middle school with a lot of written reference of book of that time and I dare say that what happened in reality was even more frighting. Lorenzo didn't notice that his brother was dead before entering the sacristy as he was scorted by some people. He would scream his brother's name but no-one would tell him what happened. As soon as he could get out of that room people formed a shield so that he couldn't see his brother's body as it was unrecognisable with all the blood and stab wound. So the people heard him screaming fom his brother "where is Giuliano ?!"a lot before he could break through that shield and see his deceased brother. He really loved his brother so that's why his revenge will be so scary. I haven't watched all this series only a few scenes. I don't judge it since it is difficult indeed to recreate perfect history events but I wanted to add this anecdote because I find it particularly emotional. Also English is not my language I'm Italian and the documentary I've watched was made by Alberto Angela that's why I trust the sources.

Your English is very good. Thanks for the extra info. It sounds heartbreaking, what happened to Giuliano. An extra fact, it seems Lorenzo was never the same after Giuliano's death. His paranoia and anger issues increased and his health steadily declined. It's not hard to imagine he still mourned his brother and felt guilty over his death. Giuliano was even reinterred to be buried with Lorenzo after his death.

I still cannot get over how amazing this scene is. The music is perfect, the acting from the mother and her screaming sends a chill down my spine. Not to mention the choreography and the crowds reaction are really good. Overall an epic scene.

Kitty E I loved Season 1 & 2. I can’t pick which is better because they’re both uniquely beautiful. I did like 3 as well but I don’t think it’s as strong as the first 2. Perhaps because it was a man abandoning his principles for most of the season? Plus auctioning off his daughter to the equivalent of a 15th century fratty boy was a bit cringe. Yes, the music is amazing! I want to use the theme song for a vintage Ferrari highlight reel.

Kitty E Exactly! Instead of pursuing his lifelong goal of establishing a Florentine Republic, he went on a mission of retribution against those who murdered his brother. Though I suppose it was foreshadowed by Jacopo de’ Pazzi (Sean Bean) at the conclusion of Season 2.

Not since the Red Wedding have I seen a scene this beautifully shot with all its heart-stopping brutality. The gorgeous music helps make this one of the most stunning and emotionally impactful season finales in TV history.

The way Lucrezia screams just breaks me everytime. I can't imagine the pain she felt seeing her son murdered right in front of her and not being able to do anything. Long live the Medici!

A masterpiece. The acting, lighting, music, use of slow motion, and the angles they chose were all amazing. The mother’s scream piercing through the silence, the top down view of everyone pouring out of the church and fanning out? Incredible.

Sean bean must be one if the best actors, in this you genuinely thinks his evil and hate him when his on screen But in game of thrones you want him to be your dad

@@salifyanji2893 Sean Bean actually was pretty much type cast for a long time as a villain, so this is right up his alley. It's also part of why he's died SO MANY TIMES onscreen 😂.

The fact that they killed him in a place of worship assassinating him from the back is a new low it wasn't a fair fight I think people who kill others like this are cowards and should be ashamed of themselves

They got the damnatio memoriae for this. Pazzi's name was completely deleted from history books, archives, buildings and damned for eternity in Florence. Their properties were confiscated and given to the government. Pazzis were exincted after this act. God bless Medici. Think about this: without his father dying, Giulio would never have become Pope.

@@MightyDoomerChannel Ironically, they are some of the characters of a series and I, as many others, talk about them and remember them as they watch the episodes thinking about how much I/we abhor them.

Can we please talk about Nori's sacrifice too? This scene is so heart breaking and I cried a lot while watching this.

Although I'm Italian, I don't usually follow the Italian series, but this gives me great pride! The Medici is a masterpiece for me and this scene is proof of it. I still remember the tension I felt the first time I saw it even knowing how it was going to end, knowing the story. Keep this tension and this anxiety, arouse chills even when you know what is going to happen is something that not all film adaptations of historical events can do.

Pazzi: Lorenzo Medici could become a tyrant and take over Florence if he wanted to, let's kill him and his family before he gets the chance! Lorenzo: [Embraces tyranny and takes over Florence as a result of his brother's death] Pazzi: *Surprised choking Pikachu*

But think about how happy must Sean Bean be that it wasn't him this time at last. I swear, he looked downright incredulous in this scene that it wasn't him getting hacked to pieces. Now that he's passed the Torch of Cruel and Sudden Death to Bradley James, the curse is broken. (It would be really nice to see Bradley in a role where he stays alive once in a while though.)

My younger brother and I watched this on Netflix last night and while watching the part where Giuliano gives Lorenzo the dagger, I started tearing up. I turned to my little brother as Lorenzo started screaming and I broke😂😭I don’t know what I’d ever do if I lost my brother like that...

I literally sat and sobbed watching this today. I had a bad feeling he was going to die but gosh...he still tried to protect Lorenzo and my heart broke.

I remember how chilling this scene was and especially when the Pazzi’s planned it as well. Even their own hired mercenary jumped ship bc he refused to spill blood on holy grounds.

Why?!!! I love this actor and i have to watch him dying again and again 😭😭😭😭

idkwhattocallmeself same. Arthur’s death cemented the allure of the whole show which in my mind was the very clear connection the cast members had with each other. The most frustrating part is that Arthur FINALLLYYY knew who had been helping him and then POOF, dead. They should have done one more season.

I don't know but that slow mo of when guiliano comes to give his brother the dagger, is just something else

My favorite Netflix show, legit a masterpiece in my eyes.

I just finished watching it and this scene was so heartbreaking. I'm so glad that they didnt stabbed him in the head ( in real life that's what happened plus the 19 stabs)

In the reality was more rough and macabre, Giuliano has been stabbed so many times, that his body was literally floating in a lake of blood. The answer of Lorenzo was rough and brutal, with the total extermination of the Pazzi's family.

Bradley James in a underrated actor he was also in the show Merlin, great series he was also great in this too

Actually, he dies in tv shows, not on movies (if I can relate to Merlin, Izombie and Medici), but he end alive in Underworld and fast girls.

This scene is so epic, everything was perfect! It's insane that this is so underrated

My trauma of youth was to see Arturo Pendragon die ... my trauma returns

I am not a very big fan of the show. It can be overdramatic, a little too cheesy for my taste, the story isn't always great, the characterdevelopement can be flipflopping around and I, as someone who loves history, think it focuses too much in details I don't care for while ignoring those I consider more interesting. BUT: I am not gonna lie, this scene, this entire episode as a matter of fact, is one of the best from any series I have ever seen. For me this episode can even hold up with game of thrones episodes like the red wedding. I love Florence, I love history and I most especially love the history if the medici. This episode is perfection through and through and unites all those tings I love. It is pure genius. The assassination attempt, the way Vespucci looks at his blood-stayned hands and realises what he has done, how Lorenzo shows up at the Palazzo della Signoria, the speech he gives, the way the mobs anger tears down the Pazzi palace and everything they have ever created or owned in Florence, how Jacopo doesn't even care that he dies and is glad about how much damage he's done, how Lorenzo has to learn not to become like his enemies and how Boticelli pains "Spring" as a symbol that this is not the end but rather the beginning of something new... Those moments are just plain brilliant. I might not watch the entire season again, but I'll certainly research this episode over and over again.

I cried so much during that scene and beyond!! Didn't really expect it, but yeah, I did!!

I can only imagine how much more terrifying it was to have actually been there witnessing Giuliano's murder/assassination. You've also gotta be a really royal turd to kill a child (no matter how old) in front of his/her parents and in a religious place. Continued rest in peace Giuliano de Medici!

Actually, even in the game Ezio wasn't able to save Giuliano from the conspirators, he was only able to rescue Lorenzo.
