The frequently misunderstood Medicare is explained here. This edition will explain how to get worldwide coverage on your Medicare medical insurance to cover you for emergencies while overseas. Get this policy at “zero” cost in some cases (although not available in all localities of the U.S.). Cover yourself with medical insurance while in the U.S. and while overseas. Overseas coverage will only be for emergency situations in case of catastrophic events. Will explain the advantages and disadvantages of the so-called Advantage Plans (Medicare Plan C).

Very Good Information 👍. Moving to the Philippines 🇵🇭 hopefully in 2023.
Thanks! Very useful info!
Medicare pays partially some services inside the US. If you want to get health insurance abroad, get Plan N supplement and get reimburse with your expenses upon arrival in the US. ( it is only emergency that pays Plan N). Medicare also deduct a monthly premium ($164.90-2023) Medicare Part B. Part A has no charge. Medicare Supplement Plan N today cost $143-$150/month and it increases based on your age. In addition you get Rx coverage which is Part D Medicare.
Thank you for making this video and putting so much info into it ,I'm a american who is married to a Filipina and living in the Philippines now almost four years we have a home here but are looking to go back to the USA and maybe get a home there and maybe spend Three to four months every year in the Philippines in 66 yr old and now I have a better idea what kind of medical insurance to get thanks to you
Thank you.
It's still very confusing for me about medicare plans. I take care of my 86 yr old mom she has Medicare plan and Medi-cal don't know the difference when they ask me. I just give them her cards if she has appointments and she doesn't pay anything same with medications. Great info I'll look into this video again for reference. Thanks
Thank you for the info 😍😍😍😍
Thank you
Almost all advantage plans have worldwide emergency coverage, but you cannot be out of the country for more than 120 days at a time. Humana being one of the harder companies to deal with but overseas they will all be difficult to deal with. Also, know that depending on the country you maybe required to pay first the entire bill and then submit it to your insurance company for a reimbursement for their share from the insurance company

This is an excellent and very informative video - perhaps you will consider doing a Part-2 video to cover more in-depth on what is Medicare Parts A, B, C, D, E, F, G, K and perhaps even doing a Part-3 video on the pros and cons from different providers such as Kaiser Permanents versus other competitors? Thank you again for the great video as i am sure many people are confused as i am about the Medicare program.

@Mike Fa That is why it took me 2 years to dig through this because sales agents are not very familiar with Advantage plans. They are pushing supplemental plans.
Medicare also works in US Territories. My father lives in Dumaguete ,PH. And when he needed surgery to remove a tumor he flew to Guam ,4 hr flight.

Thank you Vlogger Grandpa for your channel, I am learning a lot from you. I work for Anthem as a medical underwriter for employer groups, we do not cover anyone who lives or works overseas for more than 6 months. That is why those who plan to retire in the Philippines must make sure that their Medicare Advantage plan will still cover them should the carrier find that they are really not living in the States. Of course, they can use their relative's or friend's address as their mailing address, so the insurance carrier may never find out that they are actually living permanently outside the US. I am contemplating retiring in the Philippines 3.5 years later if the country meets all my criteria. I will not take a chance and prefer to purchase a medical plan that will cover me in the Philippines because when I get older I will not be able to to travel 24+ hours to seek medical help back in the US. I will check out the different plans offered by Pacific Cross in the Philippines. There is a KZread video with information from Pacific Cross. The person representing this carrier mentioned that some of their plans also have worldwide coverage and those insured under these plans can also seek medical care at the medical facilities in Makati, even if they live in other provinces. I currently also have cancer, hospital indemnity and accident insurance coverage but will double check if Mutual of Omaha and AFLAC will still continue to cover me should I move out of the country. Without a good and affordable medical plan from the country I wish to retire to, I will not want to retire out of the US. I will also project the premium cost when I am in my 80s and 90s because the cost of insurance will increase as I get older. I will find out if the insurance premium will go up yearly or every 5 years and by how much.

You still need to maintain a US residence. If you plan to permanently stay in the Philippines by permanently abandoning US residence, you can't use the Advantage Plan.

Cool Good videos young man however Even if you are in the 🇵🇭 forever never cancel your medicare because you may need to fly back with major medical concerns!
Hi Vlogger Grandpa, love your videos. I have another question about this policy. Does it contain a repatriation policy? This is a part that insures my body will get back to the States. My progeny are worried about this. I’ve looked online for a repatriation policy, but you must have a health care policy not start.
Yeah, we have Humana GOLD PLUS too for 2yrs now.
Unbelievably confusing; I'm 63 thinking that yeah I will be covered by Medicare free at 65!

Medicare part c is supplemental ins to medicare? Medicare advantage?
wow! I only pay the $145 part B. My supplemental is 0 my dental is 0 my vision is 0. I have Humana Gold with world wide coverage my cost is $120 co pay.

Good info. Thank you for the info and stay safe and heathy.
Sir if the want to retire on the philippines i think hmo is the way to go such as intellicare and maxicare. No copays but needs an approval my the insurance.
Not all Medicare Advantage plans are created equal. Best one's are group plans, is PPO, good in and out of network with World-wide coverage as well as in the USA, usually more costly and with higher deductibles, longer out of country acceptance . You also need cash upfront($1000-$20,000+?) and file for reimbursement later like they do in the Philippines.
For Advantage plans.....check your mailing zip code.....get a PPO plan....when traveling seek care at a University Med Center ( they take all insurance). If you have Advantage.....Never tell providers "oh I have medicare"...always say I have ADVANTAGE.
Thanks Danny. That's a lot of information. I don't know how this figures into someone's health insurance scheme but there are credit cards available that offer travel insurances. This might save some year to year cost if they can turn on the insurance simply by buying an international plane ticket. The below statement is from a well known card issuer. "Emergency medical and dental benefit With this benefit, you can be reimbursed for up to a specified amount of medical expenses if you or your immediate family members become sick or injured while traveling. Coverage includes ambulance services, drugs, medicine and therapeutic services."
Thank you Sir for the info. This insurance are really tricky so we have to really understand or else you will be in a trap.

@Imelda Generoso It sure is!
I am 62….when should I get the supplemental plan?
Vlogger Grandpa , do you need to get separate or 2 Plans for each of you and your wife or a single plan will cover for the two of you?
Advantage plans or Medicare Advantage plans replaces your straight Medicare part B plan. The advantage plans give you the Out of pocket limit that is not offered in your traditional straight Medicare part B plan. If using only the straight Medicare part B plan, you will have to perpetually pay the 20% co-insurance for services unless you have a supplemental insurance that will shoulder the 20% co-insurance after Medicare.
Speaking of making payments for your medical bill for treatment, whatever that may be the case, you pay cash/ credit card first in the philippines.
Thank you sir.I bow to you.
Horizon Blue Cross/ Blue Shield advantage plan covers a worldwide coverage for travel insurance including COVID.They should Honor this as a travel insurance.
Im not old enough yet, but great info!
Am I right to say that for retirees permanently residing in the Phil., there is no medical insurance that will provide hospital coverage since there is a restriction that you will be covered only if you left US within 30-60 days?

If you have no desire to return to the US, and want the same convenience as insurance in the US, then get medical insurance in the Philippines. Otherwise, watch the video again re Advantage Plans.
So if you are in the Phillipines and have the advantage plan, what if you get cancer, is that covered as an 'emergency'? will the worldwide advantage plan help you with cancer treatments etc.
@vloggergrandpa2707
2 жыл бұрын
I don't think so. That would require long-term treatment and I think you will be required to go back to the U.S.
Sir , I made some Research about it , Medicare is only accepted in the USA. ,but just like other Health Insurances , we have to pay 1st for the Trearment. Abroad , then with the Bill Receipt should be presented to the Insurances Main Office , and they paid you back the money you spent ., that is an INTL . Regulation ..
