Great video Greg! This happens in all trades that have a hand made component. My Grandfather had a machine shop and would always say, it’s not about how you get knocked down but how well you get up. It’s obvious that you and your team will work to continuously improve. This made me want to expand my Medford collection. Thank you for the transparency

Most of my medfords have been very sharp, except a thin midi maurader that was very dull. I took it back to knife store and they sharpened it for free. Awesome knife. I appreciate this video’s honesty and that the reaction was to improve process, well done.

This is why I buy Medford knives. Because the problems are always addressed & fixed. I have bought 5 Medford knives in the past 2 years and every knife has been perfectly ground & the edges are A1. I do agree with the gentleman that complained about his Medfords. This is how we keep our beloved USA made knife companies from going down the drain. Unless that company doesn’t listen but it’s very apparent that Greg takes pride in his knives being the best quality knives we can buy. I personally would have reached out to Medford first and give them an opportunity to make these knives right & up to the Medford standard we are all used to.

Thank You Greg Medford for addressing the issue. I returned 2 Medfords to dealers ( 1 fat daddy & 1 marauder H ) in the past couple months due to very badly ground edge grinds. Unsymmetrical edge grinds drive me crazy and that’s with any maker. Sharpness is subjective but they should cut paper when new. While his video was a call out of sorts, I am glad you seen it and are making the necessary adjustments to get back on track to the Medford Standard

Unfortunately this issue made it out the door, and even more unfortunate is it went into a reviewers hands. I have many Medford and ASK knives, and I e dealt with many of the the people within Medford and ASK either over the phone or through emails. 100% of those interactions was because of something good, never bad. But I also know how great Medford customer service is, and the reviewer could have very easily reached out through a phone call and it would have been correct immediately. Literally out of any American knife manufacturer there is, Medford is the easiest people to get ahold of, even emails are answered usually within a working day. On that note this was a cool video to share showing some of the inside workings of correcting and issue where it begins. Nobody’s perfect, and mistakes happen, and it’s good to see them taken care of. Keep the great knives coming! Love Medford!! 💯🇺🇸💯🇺🇸

You got your point across to your guy's without making any of them feel they were to blame for the problem that occurred. It takes a good man and boss and leader to do what you showed there. Things happen every now and then when maybe an employee gets complacent in their task at hand, or they may have something on their mind that may be troubling them. I spent 36yrs. as a Pipe Welder having to make exray welds all the time, and I remember a time when I was young and new everything, well that came to a head one day and I was really embarrassed by what I took for granted of what I thought was good enough. In my trade as I was working on a cross country high pressure natural gas line in PA. were I lived, it got me. Let me tell you the inspector took me and five other welders into his office and proceeded to show us some of our exrays of the welds that didn't cut it. I have to say he was cordial and firm at the same time as he was eating our asses out about them. That little talk you did right there brought back that memory and a couple more, usualy they only gave us two "busts" and then the old saying was "bust the test, collect your check and hit the gate" that sucks when your 800mi from home.

I have no issues with any of them except one that I might send back but it’s minor. My question is if a knife cannot slice through paper, is it a bad grind? Because none of my Medfords slice through paper. I just figured because the blades are so thick, they can’t get a razor sharp edge. I love Greg, I love the company, I just had a question. I have bought over 300 knives in the past few years. I have received a bad edged knife from every manufacturer except Rockstead and Medford. I own only two Rockstead’s but I own 12 Medford’s! Each Medford that I have received has gone right through a piece of paper. I have actually only had to sharpen one so far. I loaned my S90v Praetorian Genesis to a friend and when I got it back 3 months later he had completely destroyed the edge, it looked like he had been banging it against concrete but of course he claims he barely used it! 🤔 But I have it better than new now and have had no problem with any of the rest. I have bought 4 Shirogorov’s and I have had to fix the edge on each one! Microtech has been hit or miss. Benchmade and Spyderco have been hit or miss. Hogue hasn’t let me down yet. Even the Herman Sting in Elmax I received had a burr down one side but my other two Herman’s arrived razor sharp. I love sharpening Elmax so I wasn’t mad. Enough rambling for now!

@@fredp1983 The Rockstead prices and the fact that the brand is basically built around their edge retention abilities. They claim to sharpen them to a fine mirrored edge polish to prevent chips at the high hrc they use and for the long lasting sharpness. I received a Protech Malibu today and it is nice and sharp which reminded me that I had bought a Godfather and it needed to have the edge touched up when I received it but the Protech PT+ Custom I have arrived razor sharp. I just wonder why so many brands have these good and bad edges. Is it a different person sharpening, different time of the day, just a bad day, who knows!

You have a young crew. But Mozart compossed his first symphony at age 4, so maybe thats not the issue. I am reading some of the conments here and most of them are trying to stroke your ego. That's the problem. Lot of people who buy $700 pocket knives are not people who really need a knife for work. It's just dressing. So not a lot of people are going to put it to real use or real test. Because if I dull a $700 knife cutting, slicing, and carving to make a youtube video, I sure hells aint going to sharpen it with my non skilled hands. So, I think a lot of people who buy these knives just take your word for it that it is a fantastic knife because if its $700, its gotta be excellent right? You do communicate very well to your workers. $700 is pennies for a Samurai Sword, but for a 3 to 4 inch piece of steel that can't cut better than an Eskimo sharpened whale bone or whatever they make their cutting tools out of is a disgrace. With that said, if I paid $700 for a pocket knife, your signiture that you engraved better be on that blade. That my friend is the life of a true craftsman. From the day you wake up, you eat and do your craft until you go to sleep. And you definitely don't let your apprentices make your most expensive products. Go park your new truck. Stop buying airplane tickets to go PR with potential business partners. Get a cot and sleep in your factory because you are too tired to drive home. (which I am sure you do sometimes). Like you said. If you gotta cheat and make knives in China to make it big, you dont deserve to. Same goes for if you can't make a perfect knife that cost so much, you don't deserve to.

This falls on the owner and the management staff these guys seem over worked and honestly don’t seem surprised by the video and quality of the work there’s no QC at the end of manufacturing to catch these things from happening but imo these guys need more training and more observation great coaching tho about the issues

Let’s be honest. I own several of your knives but the price doesn’t necessarily align with the value.

Wait, what? You have 10 hour work days? No wonder mistakes are made at the end of the day. Maybe your workforce is pushed too hard.

@@johnolson7009spot on. It’s a great option to have for employees. We even work 12 hour days in my job - three 12 hour days one week and three the next plus an 8 hour day to finish. Gives me 7 days off a fortnight to live my life.

Thats cute insult the quality of everyone on your "crew" for your own publicity instead of handing the problem without making everyone in your company look like shit great leadership. Why not just fire issac instead. Toxic leadership at the finest.

No ones perfect and mistakes happen. But I feel this dude is a Biden supporter and still mad at Greg over that tshirt. I have several medfords. Ive had them for 4 years now I’d say and I have yet to sharpen them. I’ve only had to strop.
