    Did you use ball bearings in the joints,and was a spring of some kind used to bring back the fingers or was it gravity?

    i checked the images and they are great!, just one question though why have you used a plastic pipe and a black material(which seems like elastic) in 3 fingers and bicycle strings in the other two? and it seems to be gone in the final finished image thanks for your help!

    chain drive will hold tight to stepper motors rather than servos. Awesome build, you can put mold latex on your talced hand let it dry after many coats and reverse for skinning it.

    Have you tested how many lbs of force of grip strength it can successfully apply? The average male hand can apply about 115lbs of grip strength within the whole hand.

    I don't want to trivialize this video because it has the basic method a robotic hand ,so far , is made . But it's basically a rotating motor that winds a cable , string whatever , by that action it contracts the fingers . They are kept in place by the tension of the string and designed to not out fold .

  • @vegham
    @vegham14 жыл бұрын

    @jazzharp52 Depends on how much work or load you give it. For just finger control I would say around 100mA each servo. The more you give it, the stronger it will get.

  • @axedevil
    @axedevil12 жыл бұрын

    ah thanks man!...hey is there also a tutorial on how to make the structure of the hand. I've made it using plastic tube and elastic string, but its pretty primitive without much flex in the fingers. Can you tell me how to go about making the hand you made in the video, not the servo and coding part, simply the construction of the structure. thanks!

    one thing is to make something like this, this is very well made, but it is still a stand-alone robotic arm, it demands a bit more work to apply it to a human stump and making it work from brain signals or muscle signals

    The hand was made by freehand, but with my level today I could very much design it in CAD before mass production. With a masters degree in robotics in my pocket: I know that I can make high quality, high precision and affordable products, such as this simple hand.

    Making a robot hand is trivial. Making a humanoid robot capable to stand up and walk on two legs is much harder. And yes, I know that a Robosapien has two legs and can walk, but that implementation is a cheat because a Robosapien always remains in a static equilibrium, no matter the movements of its legs, while a human (with more versatile legs) does not.

How the fingers are working have been answered many times in this thread, part1, my blog post and by email. You'll find additional information about this hand in my blog post. You'll find a link in the video description above.

    There is no tutorial, only images. If you check my blog, URL in description, you might get wiser. However, I see others have copied this design and put their hands on KZread. You might find similar. Using rigid material is a good start to remove any flex.
