I shot pigs to prevent further damage to family land, but I never hunted for food until I found Steven. I bought his books and watched his shows and it gave me the confidence to try to harvest my own food. I bought my first hunting license 2 weeks ago and I successfully took several ducks. I cleaned them and prepared them myself, and my whole family thought they were fantastic! Thank you Mr. Rinella for everything.

Now we are 2 days from rifle season, I’ve got my tags ready. I’m still studying my complete guide to hunting big game by Rinella, listen to the podcasts, and have scouted a few areas that I’m extremely intimidated by but the process of learning has been a blast. Can’t thank you guys enough for inspiring dudes like me to put the PlayStation controller down to go hunt! Wish me luck.. I’m still pretty clueless but even in failure, there’s lessons to be learned. Before everyone gets up in a dander hear me out and I do mean hear please. 80+ years ago the average person could grow their own food. In todays society the average person cannot. Less than 2 % of the population feeds the entire population of the US and a percentage of the world. There is not other way to provide the required amount meat. Hunters and the person that raises their own meat (me included) have the ability to do so. Not all are able. My opinion only.

@@brandonsmith4268 Yes but not to the standards that large corporations such as tyson and such do it. Large scale agriculture is needed but there needs to be certain standards so the animals are not literally tortured and living in unbearable conditions. And people do not need a huge ass hunk of meat for every single meal 7 days a week. There is a ethical way to even do large scale farms even you can understand that.

Steve’s is the only hunting show that really gets it. I’ve been a hunter since 1960 and long ago I realized that it is all about friends, family, nature and food. Most of my family has the “hunting gene” (as we say) and we savor our times in the field together.

What a fantastic outlook on hunting and film making you have Steve. Very unique indeed. Filming the process from the front end (planning process) right the way to the back end (food preparation and sharing a meal with close family and friends) is just such a fantastic narrative. And not only are your films entertaining but they are very informative as well. Thank you for sharing this unique hunting experience. Who would have thought a big cat would taste like pork (I'd have no idea). Thanks from down under, Jamie

I live in East Tennessee and we saw a cougar a few hours west of where we live. It was sitting up on a hill maybe 30 feet off a backroad around midnight. My wife and I thought it was fake until it took off. We were in our truck and it still scared the crap out of us. The last one killed around here was back at the turn of the last century.

Hunting with hounds in my eyes is one of the more ethical ways of hunting bear or lion. it gives you the opportunity to observe the animal and decide weather it is too young to kill or maybe the animal has young ones. in many many cases out here in the mountains of Idaho you may tree the same cat or same bear year after year.

I'm a disabled vet here in Wisconsin and in some ways I live vicariously through your hunts. It would be amazing to be out on one of your adventures. Keep up the great work and thank you for all you do in the name of conversation and education for us all. The unbridled appreciation and love you have for our many lands and game that roams it is not only infectious, but what makes true hunters continue to brave the elements time and again in an attempt to be graced with the majesty of sharing stories and sustenance with friends and loved ones. Thank you, and happy hunting.
