Actually to all those 1967 Mercury Monterey comments the car is actually a 1967 Mercury Marquis. It was only 2 door then but replaced the Park Lane in 1969 in both 2 and 4 door models.

That's why you never feel any bumps, the 73 up big Fords and Mercury's and for that matter the Lincolns with an extra hundred pounds of government mandated bumpers were some of the sloppiest handling big cars made, but they rode smoothly.

Absolutely LOVE this; Jack Lord always, and I mean ALWAYS, kept his vehicles immaculate and clean at all times while driving them to and from the set and during the shoot. Incredible attention to detail at all times. And I am a huge Ford/Lincoln/Mercury guy, so I pay special attention! Love it!

The two door car with a red interior was a 1967 Mercury Monterey. You’ll occasionally see a quick clip of this car in later episodes of the series. The car with the hidden headlights is a 1974 Marquis Brougham, which was McGarrett’s car through the end of the series in 1980. You will occasionally see the Park Lane in quick clips on the later series.
