Man, the creativity in this commercial. Especially the Saturn hat!

I remember seeing this when I was 3 or 4 and until recently wondered if it was a real commercial. I think I got part of this commercial mixed up with the Mac Tonight ones where they used a realistic model of the McDonald's restaurant as opposed to the more cartoonish one shown here.

If this commercial has taught me anything is that Ronald will grant you any wish as long as you promise to eat Mcdonalds food.

You don't see McDonald's commercials like these anymore. We bring back Ronald and the other guys.

I remember this commercial, not on ABC, but on CBS during the breaks for "Pee-wee's Playhouse".

Cool! Did not see this ad here in Australia. I went to school with a kid named Ronald Mcdonald. The poor unfotunate!

Hmm. Maybe this commercial should actually be called "Can't Wait For DINNAH!"

That's a good point, and I wondered that too. My guess is that the sun was sleeping and relaxing in the sky since he was wearing sunglasses, and the phone ringing just woke him up and when he said "I'll get it", maybe that was his way of saying "I won't miss the call and I will pick up the phone."

The sun said "I'll get it" when there was nobody else there...

@Leonard Ritter Maybe he didn't want to do anything magical to the sun but wanted to ask permission if he (the sun) could leave early in the morning to make it night faster and probably felt if he did something magical to the sun, it would feel insulting to the sun. He probably also wanted to make it a surprise for the kids which is why he was holding his hand over the phone from 0:20-0:22.

@RayRoark2009 No, I meant lunch. The 8 o'clock in the morning was a seperate thought from saying lunch. It was CLEARLY daytime so lunchtime would not be that outrageous to consider. But even if it WAS that early, would it not make more sense to wait a few hours (or hell, if he could make it nighttime, surely Ronald could speed time up to about 4 hours) for lunch instead of skipping all the fucking way to dinner?

On the second day, the earth became cold, as reports from the other side of the globe indicated that the sun was truly gone, the earth had been abandoned by it's source of life... On the third day, everyone became hungry, livestock and plants died from the cold, with nowhere else to go, they all took shelter in the McDonald's.... On the 13th day, the Delicious McDonald's Hamburgers were all gone, Ronald had left in search of food 2 days ago with only a scarf... On the 14th day, Ronald came back, The Moon and stars had long been covered by the great snowstorm and the travel back was lonely. When Ronald entered the McDonald's, there was a pure mess of *Ketchup* in one of the corners, Grimace sitting there smiling with a few yellow feathers lying around on his mouth. "Grimace." I can't believe these ads are kind of illegal now, yeah they made me want to eat mcdonald's as a kid but it was all about the toys but I also loved the fantasy these ads created and loved the maps they handed in the restaurant where you could see where grimace and the fry kids lived. Little known is that Ronald did this all the time. The moon suffered from a severe lack of sleep and literally died a few days after this commercial was made. Also, most of our environmental problems today are a direct result of Ronald screwing with the Earth's rotation. McDonald's will deny all of this, of course.
