McCormick Deering Farmall F12, Tractor Ride

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Topper Machine LLC has a lot of cool stuff. Manual machine shop, Sawmill, Steam traction engine, and antique tractors. One of our favorite antique tractors is our McCormick Deering Farmall F12. This particular tractor is quite unique with its low serial number (3327) and one of the early IH motors instead of the Waukesha that many of its sisters received.
Come along for a ride on this unique tractor.
Topper Machine LLC is an entirely manual machine shop located in Spooner, WI. Our videos will highlight some of our shop work as well as the sawmill we built in the shop and our A.D. Baker steam engine, and others we work on.

Great video. Makes me want to get my 12 going. Completed my 30 engine a couple years ago.

I used to mow hay with an F-12 on rubber in the late 50s.

I also had a early (1933) F-12. Please note that what you have on the rear steel wheels is the Waukesha style rear steel. It is noted by having the small cast iron centers. The later versions had a much larger pressed steel center. Nice tractor!

Just like dad's with exception to the front wheel was all cast with slip plates and a curved angle iron traction ring to steer the others were mounted on rubber

Sounds great and good to see the old stuff still running. I had a F20 with no engine so I put a 327 Chevy truck engine and 4 speed tranny in it, it was fun to drive. With the tractor tranny in high and the truck tranny in high it would go about 40 mph. Both in low and you could walk real slow for it to keep up.

I love that tractor, it is a very cool machine. It is interesting that the front wheel has a pneumatic wheel/tyre, is that original or a later add-on? Thanks for showing us the tractor in detail

I believe that someone took the original steel wheel off and modified it. I didn't like the modified one so found a later rubber tire assembly. I would love to find an original steel wheel for it, but if not, this was what a lot of farmers did for an upgrade.

That mono wheel front steer is similar to dad's except it was all metal and worn out I tried to fix the bearings and axle and the bronze slip bushings and their turned cast counter parts as they used the thick jelly like oil which smelled to high heaven's but my instructors said I couldn't do my project .

I'd love a full steel front for mine. I bored the rim and made a new axle to accept bearings.

@@TopperMachineLLC yes I took up the challenge with dad's but my school said it was too complex for a 13 year old and made me take the parts home when my dad passed away the entire wheel axle and bearing assembly was at the old home stead but as far as I know all the original parts went with all three tractors the Farmall McCormack Deereing F-12,F14,F20 and parts for an old F30 with a Graham differential

It is the first version of the OHV engine IH made. In 1934, they released the next version that they used up through the letter series tractors. 1933 was the transition year from Waukesha to IH's own motor design.
