Whats the toughest beach track you've driven? Also, the Crashpad sleeping bags are actually amazing. I've been using it for a couple of months now and absolutely love it, quickly becoming my favourite piece of camping equipment. We just camped with them in the snow last weekend and so warm and comfy! If you do want one or any Crashpad Gear I got in contact with them and they gave me a discount code :). Sleeping bags are a couple of hundred but well worth it in my opinion, you won't be disappointed. Use code 'tyler' for 5% off www.crashpadgear.com

What a difference a new set of tyres make. They do appear to have softer sidewalls - not a bad thing if they start bagging out earlier. The live axle front suspension on the 76 LC looks like it has very little travel - even the 2 other truck's IFS's look like they have much more travel. Lucky he has a front locker to compensate. It is also the first to lift a wheel. Great vid of another great weekend. Thanks muchly for sharing.

The MU-X certainly makes the climb look hard. Part of the reason I ended up with a Pajero Sport, factory locker, much smarter traction control and lower gear ratios for crawling as well. I love the 76 though, if they were a bit nicer on the highway I would have one for sure.

  • @TylerThompson90

To be honest I think that was more just the car just being able to find traction/the wheels still remaining on the ground enough to keep the car moving forward, the wheels are still spinning individually the opposite one is hardly moving rather then together in unison. We have tried more speed/holding the pedal but doesn't seem to make much difference and you need to be able to tackle these obstacles slow/in control. The nav's traction control system will kick in/keep the car moving at nearly idle whereas it definitely doesn't on the MUX. I could be wrong or maybe we are doing something wrong but we see it time and time again on the tracks, mine will kick on in situations and his just sits there spinning

Dumb question probably haha, but stability control was turned off??? Without a centre diff as such traction control relies on feed back from spinning wheels transferring torque to the wheels with grip, where stability control tends to limit torque all round to help bring the vehicle under control, loss of torque - loss of drive and momentum. Found out this one day when I could workout why we would struggle on a muddy uphill.... turned stability off and bingo... up she goes... sounds bloody horrible in the cab but works a treat. (not treating you like a noob Tyler, just I know some don’t or might not realise you can isolate the stability control on most soft roaders/ suvs)

Not a dumb question cause not sure if he is, I have mentioned it to him before but I'll have to double check if he has been doing it. You don't have to do it in the nav so I don't really think about it. Ill see what we come up with, thanks!

@@TylerThompson90 it should be turning it off automatically when its put in 4wd you can see it working on multiple occasions in the vid if u watch closely it is braking one side whilst the other is spinning then u see it change sides this will be the braking function i would say a little less tyre pressure would help immensely as would a more aggressive tyre. he needs to learn to let is sit before taking his foot of the throttle i noticed on his way out as soon as he forward progression would halt he would be on the brake the traction control will take a sec to do its thing. you may also need to be low range looks like he is still in high for some of it and im not sure if all the off road aids work in high range

  • @TylerThompson90

@@douglasturner7310 Hey mate, so yeah you can see it working mildly from time to time but it doesn't help that much, and most of the time he still stops as soon as traction breaks. As I said at the start of the video, he runs his tyres pressures normally at about 14-15 psi which is quite low. He is running mud terrain Toyo tyres which are an aggressive tyre, they are a little worn but definitely got plenty of life left in them yet. And he was in low range for the entire track, definitely not high range. The only thing would be trying to hold it longer when it does start spinning but whenever we have tried that nothing seems to change and the car starts bouncing/stressing very quickly
