he used this lyric as well in brave new world. like dont be nice to at the strip club. just food for thought. always good to listen to new music and catch up references or similarities in between. in case watsky sees this, big fan and have loved your craft for years man. if lars sees this, this is my introduction to you. i heard this song back in 2018 in sac because of spotify recommendations on watsky's page, but haven't heard it again until now. i asked my gf what the watsky song she heard by him first was and she said that this song with you guys on the warped tour album she got was how she knew of him, and i think thats super cool. so im here and im not just going to leave you with a like and dissipate. i enjoy your craft too so far and you have very meaningful lyrics which is always mounds better than a lot of the rap thats just really meaningless thus high view counts. its the hearts youve touched along the ways that counts, not wether or not that count can be determined via view count. i took the time to write this simply because i love what artists do and how they can inspire people through their messages. and its okay if this gets lost to time because eventually someone will see this themselves and itll make them happy. have a good one. sorry for the messy thoughts haha, just always happy to share
Criminally underrated
Red fern reference..... ....tears up!

This is beautiful.
I sure as hell WISH someone had taught me I didn't have to be afraid when I was a kid. It's one of those life lessons typically NOBODY will tell you. It makes you harder to manage if you're not constantly terrified of what might happen to you, if you do things the 'wrong' way in the eyes of the authorities. Fear is traditionally the most effective way of motivating action, which is why most of us are drowning in an ocean of fear 24/7, all the while believing it's "worse than ever", and that everything and everyone in the world is just the fucking worst. You just have to figure that shit out with time and experience. The world and other people aren't THAT scary... or maybe they ARE and you just get used to it. Anyway, people are alright. They're not the monsters that people saying "DON'T TALK TO STRANGERS" will tell you as a kid. Ah well, better late than never I suppose. I wonder if there's a way of getting the idea across to people where they'd be receptive. There must be. FDR had it right. FEAR itself is the real monster that we need to fear. Nothing can MAKE you afraid though, you get to decide. FDR is the rare politician who actually gave a shit about people, and helped us to understand how we're getting played by those who use fear against us.

also - favorite track as a youth was "down with the clown"... as an angry teenager, "how many times"... now as an adult, it is a tie between "under the moon" and "pass me by". I always really liked those songs at the end of certain ICP projects that were like... uplifting after the previous carnage. Songs like "pass me by, pendulums promise, crystal ball, i'm coming home, joke ya mind, etc."... I really enjoy the peaceful side of ICP.

I do too - it's my favorite side of them for sure.
When Watsky said, "when I have some kids of my own" I was thinking with me?? XD
I remember going to see Lars play with mc chris and Spose in Raleigh, NC. Lars gave an amazing performance; he even rhymed freestyle using nerdy objects that the audience held up. It was very impressive. Hell of a nice guy, too.
I've gone through all the comments and I didn't see anyone praise the "I was never afraid" little girl vocal. For me, that makes the song. Sure, the other stuff is good, but that line is so hauntingly beautiful. I re-listen to this song only to poorly imitate that one line and weep at how far I fall short.

This reminds me of finishing The Farthest Shore by Ursula le Guin last week. I'm in a pretty bad place rn, but sailing around Earthsea with Ged and Arren makes me more capable of facing my fears. Now to start the next adventure - Tehanu on the ilse of Gont

+DUBA Much love man! Was such an honor to rock this with Watsky. Thanks for the love.
You just made me cry my own tears. This was so beautiful!
My mom used to read to me every single night. Madeline was my absolute favorite. I still have my first copy, it's coming apart at the seams. When I was 5 I knew the entire book by heart. My mom and I would recite it together during scary stuff like tornadoes and doctor's appointments. I still remember most of the book. I am so grateful to my mom for passing on the love of words to me at such a young age. This song made me think of her, brought back the good memories. Thanks, Lars. :)
the video ends at 4:20 coincidence? absolutely!
