He’s still an abuser; he just also happened to be abused. Shocking how that happens all the time and no one talks about it. Plenty of relationships are stuck in a cycle of one person abusing the other and the other retaliating ad infinitum. Both abusers; both victims. Take it from someone who grew up in a household like that - if you start viewing one side more sympathetically than the other when the facts show they both set out to make the other miserable and fearful, then you by necessity are having to make peace with someone’s unconscionable behavior. He’s earned criticism, and so has Amber Heard. You just won’t hear them dunking on Amber Heard any time soon cuz she’s not in the collective consciousness nearly as prevalently as Depp. If they do at some point start singing her praises, we can both lambast them together.

@@Crossark1 the heavy implication of dunking on johnny depp like that though is a support for amber heard, just because its not explicitly stated doesnt mean its not there. i agree that theyre both earned criticism but if youre only talking about one side its still biased in favour of the other person.

He's legally confirmed to have abused Heard. He lost his case in the UK, and the case in the US wasn't over whether he abused her, it was over whether she could *talk* about him having abused her. No court has contested that he abused Heard. It's a bit rich to talk about following trends when you've evidently bought into the publicity campaign run by someone who, again, is legally confirmed to be an abuser.

@Tjthemedic I'm not sure if your comment was intended to "convince" me but it didn't. I watched entirely too much of the proceedings considering it had less than 0 impact on my life and I stand by my opinion on the situation. That being said, it's always wiser for people not to comment on a situation like the Depp/Heard thing before all the facts are in. I know that from experience - having been wrong about that kind of thing in the past.
