MBMBaM 448: Bird Words

Комедия

This episode features some of the narrowest narrow-casting yet recorded in human history, which is to say: If you’ve got a science report about Birds due at school tomorrow morning, we’ve absolutely got you on this one.
Suggested talking points: Justin’s Soundboard, Snowblower Preferences, Hot Grapes?, Eight Paper Towel Rolls, Moist Magazines, AI Taxi, 50 Avian Descriptors

I just want to say, the point about Jeff Goldblum casually eating some hot grapes. I have been watching a streamer who was just sitting there eating oranges like an apple. Skin and all, just casually chomping down. It really threw me.

I decided, bc of this video and the animation which ive rewatched too many times, to try: heating and eating grapes. I microwaved a few of them in a little water for 10 sec at a time. they *taste* the same but *feel* wrong in your mouth. like the sensation of hot grapes in your mouth feels like youve just done something... wrong, they also dont heat evenly with that method but i felt it was the safest way to microwave grapes without mini explosions or destroyed microwaves.

I would like to officially put the hot fruit debate to rest, if I could. The entire concept is a farce. There is almost no raw foods which it is normal to microwave or otherwise heat and then consume by themselves. You would not pop some blueberries in the microwave and then just eat those bad boys, no. But you know what else you wouldn't do that with? Broccoli, carrots, chicken breasts, salami, dry pasta, and pretty much anything else you can think of. If no 'fancy preparation' of the fruit is allowed (vis a vis cobbler, pie, etc) then no fancy preparation of other foods is allowed either (such as pizza, nachos, chicken pot pie, baked potato, etc). The only foods that I can think of which would be somewhat normal to eat hot without any extra ingredients would be rice, oatmeal, popcorn, and sweet potatoes. They would all just be very bland.

OKAY I'm with Justin on that. Would you take a fresh ass carrot and peel it and pop it into the microwave? Would you get raw chicken and put it in the microwave ? a whole tomato? (i mean it's a fruit so maybe that's not the best argument). Or like a raw bell pepper? or an ear of corn??? NO Like.... you microwave just the stuff you reheat? If you cooked some strawberries and made a sauce yesterday and you wanted to pop it in the microwave before eating? cool if you cooked some peas and carrots yesterday and you pop it in? Kinda gross but yeah it's fine NOW TELL ME What kind of maniac takes ANY raw unprocessed food and just. Puts it in the microwave???

  • @zurichRevolts

you’re not responding to the question at all. you’re responding to some of the tangents they went on to try to explain to justin what they were talking about, and even then you’re just saying what you do but not why you do it that way. meat needs to be cooked before you eat it. you’re not gonna eat it raw, and you’re not just gonna toss it in the microwave. fruit does not need to be cooked. the common way to eat most fruits doesn’t involve any preparation. the fact that people don’t microwave fruit that isn’t part of some other dish is undisputed; it’s an inherent assumption of the question; it’s the crux of the whole argument. the yahoo user asks why this unspoken rule exists. if i’m not putting it into a bread or a pudding or whatever, i could eat a banana cold. i could eat it room temperature. i could put it in the microwave and eat it warm, but i probably wouldn’t. why not? have you ever tried it? do you know anybody who has? if no, that’s kinda weird, isn’t it? there’d probably be no harm, right? nobody’s ever cautioned you against it, have they? you think it’s weird because you imagine that it’s uncommon. but why is it uncommon? boy, i hope i don’t have to continue this conversation

  • @dumbalek6001

@@zurichRevolts you're not obliged to continue this conversation at all. Who said I was responding to the question? I just can't listen to Griffin's absolute nonsense take. The answer to the op's question is simple : why do we eat fruit cold? Because we can. Because you won't get poisoned from an unprocessed raw apple, but you def will from eating raw chicken. It's just comparing reheating processed food and a single grape that makes my brain melt. Even in very unserious, comedy podcast setting ;)
