MB200 Diesel Cracked Frame Fix

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Added an idler sprocket to fix our chain vibration issue and welded some plate steel to the underside of the frame to strengthen up the engine mount. Afterwards, we thrashed the BAJA MB200 around in the snow under heavy load testing out the idler sprocket setup.
Everything held up well proving this setup to be reliable so far. This diesel really needs a lower RPM clutch to function properly, we are trying to figure that situation out now. The best option would be a manual clutch but that is proving to be pretty hard to find.
I am unable to find this exact engine on the web at the moment but I have found one similar. When I ordered my engine I purchased a 196cc 3.5hp engine but the engine I received was a different color and had a 4hp sticker on it. It was the same 196cc bore size. I will post a link below to a website that sells similar engines.

Hopefully it will hold up to all the extra torque the turbo is going to add to this little Diesel engine. Going to be a fun experiment!

We welded on it some a few years back, so this time we welded some 1/8 inch plate to the bottom to hopefully prevent it from happening again 🤞

How did you guys connect the throttle cable, I cannot for the life of me find a reliable way to do it, the guy I bought a bike from with this motor on it just tied the cable to the throttle which came loose

No, they didn't even hold up after a few years of abuse with the stock engine. Ours has quarter-inch plate welded to the bottom of the frame, since then we have had no cracking issues

@@granite345rt6 There doesn’t seem to be any aftermarket parts for these engines just yet. Maybe there never will be. There’s just not much that can be done, as far as performance upgrades, for small diesel engines. They’re not like small petrol engines where the sky is the limit. Since it is a diesel, you could probably run it on peanut and/or vegetable oil… which is pretty cool.
