How refreshing to watch car reviewers who doesn't expect every car should have turbo and fast like a jet or sports car. It's so annoying that car reviewers always talks about the lack of horse power and not enough gear. Ugh! Thank you and keep the good job guys!

Those panel gaps are not a mistake or quality control issues. Every Mazda has those gaps on the interior for good reason......so that no ones fingers are tomato paste upon closing the doors.......believe me ive tested it out.

I am so happy that you guys have created this channel. You guys and Savage Geese offer a perspective that goes well beyond “Mazda should offer an eight- or ten- speed transmission because that’s where the industry is going.” I like the way Paul’s passion for design comes through, and I also like the scenarios and pseudo comparisons that Todd comes up with. Thanks again!

I think it looks pretty good. It doesn't look angry or in pain which I appreciate! Nice review thanks i learned about the pros and cons so I appreciate that. Suggestion maybe you could start reviewing how the various driver's aids work in the cars you test drive. I tried using lane assist in the 2020 Toyota Carolla when I rented one and it wandered between the lines and was uncomfortable so I turned it off and never used it again for the week.

Except for the HUGE swaths of black plastic, I really like the surfaceing of this CX30. I like it so much that I wish this was the styling that was used as the Mazda 3 Hatch. I find the 3 Hatch too raked and it leaves a huge rear quarter panel with no glass, which I find a bit contrived. If the 3 hatch was a 2 door, I think that it's styling would be more cohesive and successful, and using this, just lower and without the black plastic as the 4-door hatch would be perfect for me. But I am not the average buyer. The average buyer wants that ride height, and thus the CX30 exists with all it's hateful plastic. And Jounce. So much Jounce.

Slightly lifted hatchback is how I've always viewed crossovers, even the larger ones. Do I wish carmakers made a version thats lower to the ground with better driving dynamics? Of course, and most do actually..in the case of the CX-30 it would be the Mazda 3 hatchback with the new turbo engine, and rumor has it the CX-30 will get the same powerfplant making it a compelling option if you like the styling better. Mazda seems to be killing it these days..giving the masses Italian coachwork-like styling inside and out combined with Japanese attention to detail and reliability. It really astounds me more people dont choose Mazda products over Toyota which can be a bit staid and stodgy, or Honda which can be a little lacking in reliability these days, and pricier when similiarly equipped to a competing Mazda.

It’s called the CX-30 because they make a CX-4 that will not be imported to the US...And, this vehicle will be available in a market with the CX-4 in another market outside the US, so they couldn’t call it the CX-4 (per Alex on Autos!)...Interesting that you guys keep comparing these sub-compacts to the Cross Trek...that car is SO SLOW!!! O-60 in over 10 seconds!! It can only be compared to a tortoise!! 10+ 0-60 is border line dangerous and criminal! There is no good reason or upside to being that slow in 2020. All that out of the way, great review of the CX-30...Love the BMW/Audi infotainment combo look...now I need you guys to review the Kona to complete my homework!! :)

There's a lot to love about my CX30 . 3 things I don't . 1st One day you will park next to a curb and when you shut the door , the big plastic strip will tear off the car stuck in the grass. 2nd The two recalls . 3rd the infotainment is annoying . But handling , style and everything else is great . It's a trade off as to what you prefer when comparing other cars .

Has far as I see it Mazda just wanted to call this thing the CX-30, because they could have called it CX-4 without it causing any confusion between the Chinese marketed version. For Example, The Honda Odyssey we have here in North America is completely different from the one they have in Japan. Are people confused by this? No.

There’s a much bigger price gap between th CX-30 and Seltos at the top end...CX-30 is 35k loaded...Seltos is 29k...Huge difference and I don’t think the CX-30 is 6k better...While I do prefer the tranny/engine setup in the CX-30, you can’t really be seriously questioning why makers add more gears? The extra gears get you better MPG over fewer gears all else being equal...And, with the push towards better MPG, you need to either put a smaller engine it your car, or get more gears...or both! That said, I prefer fewer gears (especially with a manual!).Two things on the whole biomechanics studying issue...Mazda talks a lot about the drivers experience, biomechanics, etc. So, one, why don’t the seats tilt? I have never driven a Mazda that had comfortable seats and I’m 5’9”. They should have taken some of the money they spent on where to put the woofer to adding a tilt function to the seat adjustment...and two, the visibility over your right shoulder (c pillar) completely stinks!! The rear window isn’t great either...again, if you’re whole argument for not putting in a touch screen is because it should be driver focused, how do you not design it so you have good visibility out the back?

No heated steering wheel. If they want to be "luxury" it needs a heated steering wheel. My sister's Kia had one. I have no idea why they added it to the 3 (I traded my 16 3 in on an 18 3 for this feature and it was entirely worth it) and have since removed that feature - in the US only?! - even on the top trim.
