While many may have been hoping for a new rotary-engined sports car, Mazda’s most powerful model yet comes in the form of a plug-in hybrid SUV to rival the BMW X3. Also available with petrol and diesel engines, the Mazda CX-60 boasts a luxurious interior and a lower price tag than German rivals - plus a little bit of MX-5 in the driving experience. But is this enough to make it competitive? Rich finds out

I actually think limiting the access to the touch screen is brilliant, it limits carelessness of those who don't have interest in driving safely. If you want to change something, pullover and do your business. I love it!

I was little hesitant buying mazda 6 because of not having touch capability while driving, however after few days I got used to it. Now I don’t touch screen at all, even when in parking. Dial is just easy. I think they are in the right direction. no more sticky screen with finger prints everywhere.

Touchscreens are pointless as you have to stretch to touch the damn things anyway, the only brand I can think of where it’s kinda ok - is Porsche as it’s located near the gearsticks
You shouldn't present the automatic seat adjustment as a negative feature just because your driving posture is bad.
I reckon if you pritt stick a BMW badge over the Mazda badge people would flock to it. Really is a lovely thing.
@tonyboy7837

The only thing that will flock to this car are pigeons.
From a safety point of view the limited accessibility of the touchscreen is a good thing. You don’t have to look at your fingers when using the rotary dial at all so you maintain much more focus on actually driving.
Great looking car and superb build quality … it’s a Mazda…… give it 6 months and it’ll be excellent once few bits ironed out. It’s often overlooked but the dealer experience is important too. I’ve never come across a poor Japanese dealer … unlike others …. Well done Mazda.👏👏👏👍
I can’t believe there’s another journalist is moaning about the infotainment screen. I thought these people were anti-touchscreen? Perhaps someone should remind him that Mazda decided to remove many of the touchscreen functionalities for safety reasons. At the end of the day why do you think using your mobile phone whilst driving is banned in the UK?
@keeganknittle4365
Жыл бұрын
It's also banned in the morning, afternoon and late at night.
Automatic driver position set by Mazda seemed much more natural to me. The one, chosen by reviewer looks like he has just finished his driving cources and afraids to be "too far from road" - that's the only explanation why one can sit so close to the steering wheel, which is so uncomfortable.
@suthasinnathurai2253

I am a professional driver I never sit like him too close to steering wheel
Not noticing it's a EV is actually brilliant. To me it means they did their job in this transition stage. I do agree about the steering is a bit sensitive. I do love mine fiercely. The gear box is a bit rough but it also gives it character. I really enjoy it.

Having test driven it, I never once thought the ride was an issue. And moving the map around and zooming in and out without having to reach to touch the screen was much better. Highly likely to get one and I really don't like SUV's. Oh and the Head up Display is amazing.
Totally disagree with the infotainment touch screen statement. I've owned a Mazda for 4 years and if you want a shortcut to the nav, you just hit the nav button. In Apple Carplay/Android Auto mode it displays the navigation app most recently used. Same goes for music etc. Touchscreens are distracting, unsafe, and leave annoying fingerprints.
Great looking car and amazing quality interior, with one of the best infotainment system’s to use, touch screen is not a great thing in all these new cars, the lay out and physical wheel and buttons is a perfect option from Mazda. I think they should also be praised for only allowing touch screen for the non Mazda apps below a certain speed that's a great idea. Much more saftey cautious, other brands should listen up.
driver seat is hard to fight over, because for myself a longer torsal always playing the leg game.
Read in a few reactions elsewhere that you can make the screen touchscreen even while driving. Would be just a setting somewhere in the menus… maybe you care for checking this and letting us know? 😎

I have a near new VW Passat Alltrack premium and what I hate is the touch screen which you need even to adjust simple things like air conditioning and a dial and buttons wins. It’s fiddly using the touch screen when driving to the extent of being dangerous
The 3.3 diesel is the one to have. Ours does 55mpg on a run and it doesn’t breakdown. Will never have another Bimmer. They are not what they were. Have been loyal for years, the last one was crap. And they know it. Good luck getting warranty claims!
Woah! This mazda base model is 48,000 in USD!
mazda's premiumness and its reliability than other german brands
In my opinion, touchscreens are a distracting feature and encourages lack of attention, TRL has proven the dangers of looking away to find buried functions, whilst at speed, why any manufacturer thinks adding A/C into these is a good idea is obviously pandering, to cost saving not safety !
I feel this just didn't quite work as a PHEV and they were too focused on build quality to stick it to the Germans.
This car is almost perfect. Cabin is perfect. Rotary dial is cool, and simple as well as the infosystem. And the engine is roaring like a beast....diesel type. So this is a good choice!
i dont have problem with no touchscreen..
Test drive of this model, the suspension is stiffer than i want in this range.
At 2:30 he said the car has around 3000 miles, and it is standing well with the test of time😂😂😂😂 that is around one month of usage. It should last longer than that.
The CX-80 will offer a seven-seat version.
3 row seats? I didn't know families in the UK had so many children and huge houses like in the states.
This car is the same size as 2018 x5

Funny video name as at the start of covid I had to save x amount of £ and so I switched my x3 in for a cx5. I had made that same deduction. Clickwheel, brilliant driving position, responsive car, brilliant handling. I’ve since gone back to an x3 as - quality is way down on Mazda, looks great but feel is massively different - wanted a good auto again - wanted over 300bhp and Mazda had nothing like it - don’t like fwd, I missed xdrive
Operating the screen via the wheel rather than by touch-screen is fine by me. Much easier and safer to use while driving. I really dislike touch-screens in cars.
Don't want to touch the screen while driving period... IT'S NOT SAFE
I'm glad mazda haven't gone electric crazy, they've clearly worked out that it's a massive con and will lead to owners cars being controlled by big brother and told when and where they can travel to.

Weird review. This car will be sensational
Warning for people who are planning to buy this car - i have the homura petrol version. The fuel tank capacity is 40 litres and can drive upto a maximum 390 kilomètres.(plus 50-60 kms from EV mode) None of the reviews state this explicitly. Dear mazda, luxury is not just look and feel. You need to give atleast 50L. This beast is not a city car, i want to drive long distances with it. So i need to keep stopping every 200-300kms to refuel. Disappointed with this. Such a big car and no fuel capacity. Rest of it is fine.
My god he really is triggered! Trying so hard to find "issues" and "flaws". The car goes from 0-100 under 6 sec., he's talking about leaning and touch screen. Even mentioning F-Pace in this review as a comparable car shows that there's something wrong with the reviewer.
