    Very good job Igor, but I would not spray solvent into the bottom of the trans for fear of contaminating the new oil. I would spray cleaner on cloth only and wipe gasket area instead.

    Reasonable notice, but there is nothing to be worry about, because what I used is a quick evaporated surface cleaner, which disappears without any stain. So it doesn't make any influence on oil.

    The 2020 CX-30's (2.5 L AWD) front differential, has a major problem. The fill plug has a metal bracket that partially covers it. You cannot remove the plug as it is. Could you make a video that would show how to move the differential enough that drivers could do a fluid change? Mazda fixed the problem on the 2021 and newer CX-30's. Maybe it would be possible to swap a older bracket with a newer one? So far Mazda has blown me off for any kind of a fix. The dealerships have told me that the differential is "unserviceable". Thanks

    You have to love Mazda for easy unobstructed access for this job. My wife's previous Lexus had a few sides right next to the frame making it a little difficult to do this job. I also see you are using red Idemitsu ATF instead of the Mazda FZ blue. I know it's been said that Indemau makes the blue Mazda FZ fluid but the the exact specs may be a bit different other than the meaningless blue dye. Here in America we have easy access to Valvoline Max Life ATF which says it meets Mazda FZ spec but I'm leary about using it.

    Nice job. Quick question, how's the performance with the gasket? I've seen online that people mostly recommend using RTV because they've had leaks with the gasket. Also, saw that the complete flush can have a negative effect and cause slippage - Scotty Kilmer and ChrisFix had some videos about it. any comments on that??

  • @igorpestun8703

    @igorpestun8703

    It's ok to use gasket, if it's soft, if gasket is iron, leaks can appear. If you want to use RTV, it's good too, but make sure you use specialized one, and give it some time to get dry, before pouring the oil. If you change oil often, then no issues will occur.

Mine is 103,000 miles/164,800 Kms and I would like to have this oil changed and the Rear differential oil as well but I'm scared that it might cause problems in the future. What should I do ? Should I just change the filter and the oil located in the oil pan which is approximately 4.3 Liters or should flush the whole transmission oil ? By just changing the 4.3 Liter on the oil pan and filter should be better than nothing and might not cause any issues or slippage. Please, let me know

    @@camilo9421 Yeah, it's already a big mileage for one oil. What would i do is to try change oil slowly, step by step. You can change one liter per week, and then change it full with filter. It is dangerous for gearbox to change all at once, because dirt that contains inside can stuck the valve body, and transmission might fail. Or you can change it with flushing on special machine, and after change oil, change filter and pour new oil, it's more expensive but more safety. Anyway keep in mind that gearbox might fail, because it's too high mileage for one oil already.

    What year is that CX5? If it has red ATF, its pre 2012 Post 2012, all new mazdas used blue FZ ATF. If its post 2012, why are you using red ATF? The FZ has no service interval, but there is nothing stopping you from taking a tiny sample to see what colour it has become and a drain/top-up x2. The FZ is a longer lasting ATF than the red stuff. The TCM continually monitors its performance and adjusts the timings to remove shift-shock and shudder of the transmission. He stated that it would be possible to do a drain/top-up and the TCM will notice the change in performance and re-adjust. He stated that the ATF cooler should prevent overheating of the ATF, but a dashboard alarm will illuminate if the ATF exceeds 130C. Make sure pcv has not failed. Failed pcv can cause oil to burn. Might have been faulty from the start if you are burning oil. Is it the turbo 2.5 or normal 2.5l engine?

    @@mikeschiavoni5973 I literally got off the phone with Mazda Corporate who had to respond to my BBB complaint. They told me to bring it in so they could start monitoring oil usage. I'm retired so I don't drive my car much so there isn't enough time to determine oil consumption. I'll be out of warranty. I took it in a few months after I got it and they confirmed that it was half a quart low. They didn't document it for my oil changes even though I asked them to. I was an idiot for not double checking. I had a lot going on at the time. I'm pursuing joining the lawsuit and my state attorney general. What a nightmare.

    @@lgsprings5623 damm, im sorry. I wish i had asked what was up first. 1/2 qt over 5k is not bad. Certainly not worth stressing over. Shorten oil change interval to 3500k and i bet you will see no loss at all. I should have mentioned i do change my oil much sooner than mazda is directed by manufacturer. Im not a mechanic nor work for mazda but it sounds like everything is ok. I have over 150k and 10 yrs on my engine/transmission and its great. All new cars are doing this oil consumption thing, imo due to extended oil interval to 5k miles. They didnt do any magic to go from 3k to 5k with the oil or pistons, they just made the oil pan larger. You really do have a very nice ride, enjoy, dont stress.

    Only use Mazda atf!!! Also he forgot to follow Mazda procedures as stated in service information. Trans fluid needs to be 122°F, then check level. With the replacement of the filter, your filter holds an extra .5qt to 1qt you need to account for. When all done, you need to put transmission in intial learn mode on your scan tool to relearn shift data with new fluid. Thank me later.

    The transmission was cold, so the fluid did not expand. He replaced with the same amount of fluid of the same temperature. The fluid is the same used by Mazda. Mazda does not make transmission fluid. They buy it from Idemitsu, color it blue, and then slap their label on it. You can thank me now.

    It is better than nothing, but doing it right is to flush the whole system with new oil. Though it requires special equipmnet and min. 12 liter of new oil. The 4.3 liter is only 50% of the actual oil quantity in the transmission system. I flush my Mazda 6 every 80 000km - recomendation for german cars.
