Dude that's the jankiest emergency lever for a seat I've ever seen. Why not just have a clip and strap idea, ugh engineers!

2010 Mazda3 doesn't click to unlock when remote unlock button pressed twice. Put both seats down, crawl in. Just above the latch there is a black rectangle about 1 1/2 x 2 inches in size, use a slot screwdriver to remove this cover. Inside you will see a white arm sticking up with a hole in the top. Put a Phillips screwdriver into the hole and move the white lever from the 12 o'clock position to the 2 o'clock position, clockwise. You will hear it unlatch, lift at the same time as moving the arm.

Thank you! Good simple fix with an explanation. If I have the same issue, but the trunk actuator is not clicking, does that mean I need to get a new solenoid? There is a light click on the left side of the trunk, but no click in the very rear of the car. I am getting power all the way to the connection just before that trunk latch mechanism. I don't know what is wrong between that last connection and actually getting the latch to open though. Any idea? 2015 Mazda 3 sport. Thanks a ton.

You are welcome! If power and ground are found at the actuator, and there are no changes in voltage or lost of power while pressing the trunk button, then more likely the actuator is bad. The actuator is the only mechanism holding the trunk close.

2012 Mazda 3 hatch that will not open. I’ve tried the hatch button, double clicking the unlock button on key fob and clicking the unlock button on the drivers door. The hatch will not open and I do not hear a sound. Would you please advise on how to manually open it and what the cause maybe?

Hey!! The videos shows how to manually open the hatch. You have to reach from the inside of the car, lower the seat and the latch is inside. Pull the latch and it’ll open. The problem is the actuator going bad, that’s the caused.

I have a similar issue with my 2010 mazda 3 the trunk won't open with the fob key however it opens with the manual latch on the driver's side. So would a latch replacement do the trick to enable the fob key to work again? Getting the same click sound when I press the button.

That could very well be, If you are hearing the click from the actuator, then that's safe to say it is the actuator. Using the cable to manually open the trunk is a sign that everything mechanical is working just fine, there is no bind or anything stuck etc.
