+Tovah Asores not all the details. but I think them being unable to have a child was what hurt the relationship. maybe they could keep trying, but think there's was a lot of disappointment there along with lots of hurt. too much too handle, so they split? so, yes, on the other side of the coin, I could see them being perfectly happy together for ever and ever. i don't want to talk drugs, but maybe they were both doing _things_ at the time and it affected the ability to conceive. IDK. :/

Remember their baby passed away of Pfeiffer Syndrom. It is passed on by genes. Either one of them has to be the carrier of this gene. That's why they did not have children.

Such a shame they lost their family; If you look at her closely you can see his influence in her style, her ways, her talk; I think both of them capture and maintain their influence in each other! Sweet, real woman...I can see why Prince gravitated to her. Having lost two children and having been with Prince, she will forever have that experience imprinted on her soul. She's adorable. She seems genuine and sweet. Can't help but think tho that Prince knew he wanted to be with her even when she was a 16 yo kid. He just waited for her to turn 18, brought her into the circle and eventually obtained his goal. They were a cute couple though. Sad it didnt work out and that their babies didn't survive.

My earliest memories of Prince were during my childhood in the early ‘eighties’ seeing the videos of ‘1999’ and ‘Little Red Corvette’ . I was immediately struck with his close resemblance to Michael Jackson and liked his music from then on.

Prince, clearly, was attracted to and had an affinity for beautiful, latin women...Mayte, Appollonia and the late Denise "Vanity" Matthews are testament to that fact...What I find refreshing and interesting is, that, I've heard and watched, via interviews, Vanity, Appollonia and Mayte subsequent to their respective relationships with Prince - express their undying love for him.

Considering how prolific Prince was as a musician, how much of his attention could he have given ANY woman & for how long? Between Prince & his music no woman could live forever. There is guilt, pent-up aggression, depression, a sense of loss of one's centre, a painful severing from one's Truth, & in extreme cases, the onset of autoimmune disease (wherein the body turns against itself if one turns one's back on one's passion for extended periods, as in years). I've been down this road but to explain (what hell feels like) to non-artists & people with not an iota of appreciation for the arts is beyond futile. Music for Prince was oxygen. Stand too long between him & that which feeds his soul & he will wither inside. Women may have stolen his heart for a spell, but his soul belongs to music. Prince himself said (to Larry King) that "it's the music you come to the party for and if I give you something else, then that's me giving you something, but if you're seeking something [that I'm not giving you] then there is something lacking inside you."

I personally think she was the luckiest woman in the world, she lived every womans fantasy or should I say my fantasy

Prince has moved on with his life. He is in a different place mentally and spiritually. He's also a private man. I know nothing about their relationship and it's none of my business. I love Prince the artist that continues to make great music. HNR Phase 2 is great Cd. He just released it last weekend. Personally, I think Mayte need to stop mentioning Prince in every interview. They have been divorced for years. If you are going to be successful, do it on your own. Stop name dropping. That is the only problem I have with her. The constant mentioning of Prince. ToonieMama a first love, especially a music icon and legend like prince, I don't think that's something you can just get over like that.

She was used to being swept off her feet and that's why it was a culture shock for her cuz once it's over, it's OVER. I just dont like how she's living off Prince's name through interviews with TMZ right before he passed and her book that I found at the Goodwill over a month ago.

But either way, public fame (or lack of it, or whether or not one got famous on the coat-tails of someone else) has nothing to do with one's relationship worthiness (meaning how lucky one was to be with someone else, or how lucky that someone else was to be with them), which was topic being discussed.

+Angelina. I don't know who his "true love" was but I must be in the minority, I don't think it's Mayte. He left her. He didn't even want a divorce, he wanted an annulment. Of course excuses are made that Prince couldn't handle the pain of loosing their child, perhaps it's true. I think he realized Mayte was very immature. And why is it when someone doesn't agree with others some label them as jealous? That is such a silly thought process. There are many women, not girls, that loved Prince but would not want him for their mate. Prince was a control freak, which worked for him, as long as he was with girls, and some women he could control. Actually, I've wondered if he lacked respect for those he could control. Hmmm?

His 2007 song "Future Baby Mama" gives some big hints. I think the true love of his life, and his equal, was Sheila E. Their relationship as musicians and performers together lasted 20 years. It must be insane trying to balance a personal ice with the level of performing Prince and other superstars are engaged in. He was constantly playing, composing, rehearsing, jamming, and touring. And because he made it big at such an early age, he never had the experience of having some close buddies as a teenager and young adult, where fame and money did not come into play.

Carol Lipton Well, it's definitely not Mayte. Don't you think he would at least remain friends with her? Especially when she had his only child, even though he passed away? Somethings not right with this woman. I think Vanity was his soul mate romantically and Sheila E was his soul mate as a best friend. There are two different soul mates. Deeznutz- I wasn't sure about whether Prince and Vanity were on speaking terms after their split. I think you're right that Sheila E was his soul mate as best friend. She was in his life for a long time. Strange that they never got married. Vanity said she never loved anyone as much as Prince, so maybe she was the love of his life.

Why does she insist she was the love of his life when he dumped her and then soon married afterwards. His second marriage lasted longer too.

You know, a lot of people believe that Prince and Mayte were soulmates, the love of their lives,etc. Sure they were a YOUNG, beautiful couple. P was way ahead of her,. but soulmates, couldn't been right because they would have been together regardless as to what transpired as a mature couple. She's so beautiful, she's so this and that, but the bottom line was he had no more interest in her and beauty is only skin deep. I don't give 2 cents how long they knew each other, love was lost when she couldn't resist flapping her lips so much about their lives to undesireable entities after being told not to on numerous occasions. That is what P's childhood and current friend said. She was too immature, spoiled and infatuated with the industry and famous people. She said that herself. She betrayed Prince. How you gonna be trusted talking? You can see how she is on interviews. Now if its a lie, I didn't do the interview, someone else did. Ya'll in a fantasty. I will say this, KARMA is something else. Never will I forget what she did to Nona Gaye. About killed poor Nona. She deserved a beat down and they working with P together, getting pregnant with someones man forcing him into a shotgun situation. Everybody knows it. Damn Fake heifer! Prince will haunt Mayte forever. I don't wish that on her, but it ain't gone be easy and she'll always be in love with a man who ditched her.

They?? fell in love. Lost a child together. A very sad loss if you even had a clue..... And broke up so soon after... can you even imagine...I just wonder, if he truly loved her. Especially after the Video, remake of Betcha by Golly Wow... just sad in retrospect... did he take care of her in a kind loving, financial situation... Nancy Lectorres​​ they loss 2 babies she miscarried in 97 they lost there son end of 96 tho they were together for a lil while after that happened 99 i think is when they go annulled 00 wen it was official him changing to a JW wouldn't of helped either as u need to be married to a JW n she was a Christian n wasn't planning on converting so a lot of things contributed to it. they didn't divorce, they annulled. which really makes me curious as to how they ended. when u annul a marriage, your saying it's invalid as if it never happened. If she still had love for him why would u want to make such an unforgettable experience invalid? Usually ppl do that when they are ending on bad terms and they just want to move on and not look back on the marriage. Annulment means the marriage is legally erased like it did not exist.

About the annulment, he emotionally badgered her into it, endlessly fighting into the night and she was tired and just wanted to go to sleep. Look up emotional manipulation and what your partner can do to you in a relationship, they can have control over your heart until nothing makes sense anymore. No matter what, he could make whatever he want to happen, and he wanted to make her uncomfortable as to agree to leave his life so he could be free to be single again and go with someone else and not feel guilty about it.

Hold on everyone!!!! Prince REMOVED his old music for a very Good Reason... Unless you didn't know.. When a couple goes through the loss of a child it either destroys them or brings them closer together. From what I've read their case was the latter...she locked herself in a room and he threw himself into his music head first. They essentially drifted apart and my guess is that it was just too painful to deal with and seeing each other was a constant reminder they couldn't bear.

And the "CRACK" statement was a passive aggressive jab at VANITY!

She has a vibe similar to Sheila. Different talents and different experiences. But if you were to tell me that she was Sheila's little sister, I could believe it. Obviously she is not, but there is Something similar in the eyes.

He dumped her and all these years later she is still making money out of talking about him. Now we here she is writing a book about their lives together.
