Its more of a situation where he sensed they were not real robbers (there a several hints), but he was feeling uncomfortable with the situation so refused the ride. Good decision, because the police could get involved, weapons drawn etc.

A guy actually died because of a similar “prank”, he pretended to rob someone with a butchers knife while his friend recorded and the man he was fake robbing shot him in self defense he died at the scene. So yeah these pranks are fucking disgusting and harms everyone involved

Fun fact, banks don't scrually have audible alarms like the one they editted into the beginning of their prank. The alarms are silent, designed to be triggered while the robber is still in the bank. Standard practice is to give the robber the money, memorizing what relevant details they can give to the police, preserving life as the money is insured and a hotshot can come the next day with more cash. Source: I worked as a security guard in a bank for three years.

@@mammoneymelon Literally. I'll never forget this one moment in my junior year. It might sound silly or melodramatic. But it always stuck with me. It was so short, seconds, but time felt frozen. We were all taking this math test, so everything was quiet. Then, we heard this single, resonating banging/hitting sound. I didn't really have friends in that class, or enemies, we didn't keep up with each other at all- but when we heard that, every one of us just froze. We were all looking around, at each other. We were distant but I swear you could feel the tension, the panic. Finally, someone picked up the heavy binder they had dropped. You couldn't hear it, but this class of 20 kids breathed out the biggest sigh of relief at once. It was like all of our heartbeats slowed at the same time. Even our two teachers were a little shaken. I think about that incident a lot. How all of us, 16/17-year-old kids, were so paralyzed with fear just because we were students & it was America. Everyone's eyes were communicating the same thing, because most -if not all- of us thought it was a gunshot from outside the room. Even if it didn't sound the same, no one was thinking about that. We were just terrified. Our government cares so little for our lives, that even those fortunate enough to never have experienced a shooting, live in constant fear. It still breaks my heart when I think about it.

it’s shitty how disconnected they were from the very real danger they put him in. It’s also shitty how we have gotten so used to expecting cops to just act like wild animals and kill people that the people we hold responsible are the ones who “trigger” cops (the twins for pulling the prank, people who swat each other, anyone who resists arrest etc)

I feel nervous around cops, especially when they have guns just on their person. I can’t imagine the fear that goes on when the cops are threatening with those guns. The driver could’ve had a panic attack or something worse over that kind of fear! Those fucking twins deserve jail time.

If anything colored people, have more privelage than we whites, or, at least some equal. Race claims when a crime is commited get looked at and there's a bigger penalty, if you lie. So, when it comes to court, argue it was a hate crime affectively, and boom, there's ya privelage. When any racism is commited against a white person, it can get shrugged off, because it isn't "racist if it's on a white person" or "white people don't experience racism" which is reverse racism.. So, when a black person commits a crime against a white person, without context, mind, they could get away with it...

The fact that they could’ve gotten the Uber driver arrested SHOT with them or even SHOT and possibly KILLED is downright despicable

waqar ahmed I feel like life sentences should be reserved for people who intentionally commit crimes like murder, repeat assault/rape, child molesting etc. These guys are shit, but they just come off as ignorant and negligent douchebags, not hardened serial criminals. Definitely should be convicted and have tangible consequences for sure though. Shouldn't be hard considering they kinda incriminated themselves on camera for the whole thing 🥴

Regardless of your political beliefs, I'd think it'd be obvious that pulling this kind of prank and getting the cops called on someone in the current social/political climate is just utterly oblivious and tone deaf. This 'prank' is so messed up. They said themselves that their uber drive could've got shot by the police. There was a possibility someone died because of their prank and they still thought it was funny. I wouldn't be surprised if that uber driver would be traumatised by this situation, I know I would be.
