Maya Rudolph's Shouted Out Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter Album During 2024 TIME100 Gala Toast

Ойын-сауық

For the first toast of the night, Rudolph, who’s currently starring in Apple TV’s original series Loot, shouted out Beyoncé’s new album, Cowboy Carter. For Rudolph, the album was outstanding, not just because it came from Beyoncé, who she considers “one of the greatest living performers of our time,” but because the album boldly challenged conventions when it comes to race, genre, and categorization.
“People will try to categorize you and tell you who you think you are, which is something that I know very well,” she said. “But when you know who you are, you are free.”

And let’s be honest? Beyoncé released 4 GOAT albums. She has self-titled, Lemonade, RENAISSANCE and COWBOY CARTER. Can you imagine having 4 masterpieces in your catalog? 4 in a row?! More than 27 years in the game and still raising the bar, with powerful and matured vocals. She creates ART. Real, complex and political art. The kind that disturbs and starts a cultural movement. She is necessary!

It’s about time someone give Beyoncé her praise. She is one of the best performers out there and for some reason, people like to try to bring her down. I’m not understanding that, she’s the total package on talent and she should be treated like the talented queen she is. I love her

Beyonce doesn't care about being the most popular artist, but about fighting to break the stereotypes and paradigms that have impacted a deal unequal and unfair towards social minorities, women and the black culture, which those actions, together with her music make me and many people happy. Amazing toast. Cheers.

FACT: All that vitriol, hatred, racism and yes even mysogeny helped to boost the enormous popularity of Cowboy Carter up and beyond the musical stratosphere. All it did was direct more attention to it due to all the controversy. And when you have that much global attention peering into it trying to figure out what all the noise was about, ears are coming with it. The more ears that come the more listeners will like what they hear. Here's a shout out- to all those who allowed themselves to be intimidated and scared of Beyonce, who could have just as easily ignored it and moved on with their lives, But instead, couldn't help but did their part to whine and cry like little children so as to help make her latest project the enormous success that it is.

What an exquisite tribute to Cowboy Carter and Mrs Beyonce Knowles-Carter. A Very Well Deserved One. This album is meant to serve as a musical education of the African Americans historic place w/in Country music, which would sound like Irish Folk (great in It's own right, mind you) if it weren't for the Blues & Gospel of the enslaved Africans. This includes the BANJO, which was created by enslaved Africans in the Caribbean then, later brought to The States. Yes, the banjo wasn't created by the Appalachians but by Africans. I could also go into the Black artists that many of the earlier big name white country artists learned from then portrayed as their style.... as it was with Elvis and Black artists like Roy Hamilton, Big Mama Thornton, Chuck Berry and Sister Rosetta Tharpe - The Godmother of Rock & Roll), but it would take awhile. ;) Beyonce adds a bit of those artists work into this album as well. Her last few projects have been a meld of grand musical production, a mosaic of Black History and how the two interconnect. It appears that Beyonce is in a period of the Reclamation and Rejoicing of African American Culture, trying to correct the record due to the erasure and gate keeping whilst also trying to push The Culture forward in Unity, Knowledge and Beautiful Experiences and Conversations. 😎 It's what she's become known for. The Superficial and surface level won't fully appreciate this album over the more curious and expansive minded.
