If your total income (FD interest+salary etc) is more then the basic exemption limit (2.5L old regime or 3L new regime) then better to ask the bank to deduct the tds, so that you can file return and claim any excess tax. Otherwise the amount of interest you pay under sec 234 (B&C) at the time of filing ITR will be very high, which will eat away all your FD interest. So that also one should take into account. Today bank is suppose to report even Re.1 paid as interest in AIS, so anyway your FD interest will be available in AIS, so you have to pay tax with fine. If you are reporting the FD interest in the ITR IT department will not ask you when you invested more than 10L in FD. Even if you reinvest the same FD in different tenure for higher interest it will be shown as New FD only. So IT dept will not question if your show the FD interest in ITR and pay tax if any.

Annual income 2 lakh upto FD, no TDS... if bank paying 2 lakh means the individual FD limit is ??? 30 lakh. E.g 7% interest 10 lakh - 70,000 30 lakh- 210,000. So FD only source means maximum holds upto 30 lakhs.

As per I T Rules, you can give Form 15G/15H, only if your total taxable income including interest on all FDs, is less than Rs.5 Lakhs. Otherwise you are not eligible to give those forms even if your Interest on FDs is less than Rs.40000/- and Rs.50,000/- for St. citizens respectively.

What is the current fd limit? U didn't say...

There is no FD limit ! You can invest any amount in FD, if the income is disclosed and proper tax is paid ! You can keep even 1 Cr in FD if that income is declared. Your video should give more clarity instead making panic.
