Maximizing Grip On Your Drift Car (The Easy Way)
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
A very talked about topic in the drift world. "How do I get more grip in my car". Well, the answer is simple. There are many variables when it comes to grip. Depends on your suspension, wheel speed, alignment, track width. The list goes on. But the majority of it falls back on one specific component...
Please if you can, go support @driftgames_life and grab yourself some merch. It really does help 💚

Frrr I would honestly love a brand list.
As someone coming from autocross I can agree there is a noticable difference in times from the Bridgstone RE71RS to the Falken rt660 to the kenda kr20 or Dunlops or even the gt radial or nittos. The falken and Bridgestone are currently king with the Bridgestone slightly ahead. I would be really interested to see someone that doesn't have a tire sponsorship cover the differences in the 200utqg tires for drifting so that the grassroots people can make an educated decision about which tire would be best for them instead of just buying what they think is best bang for your buck
AGREED! Please make a list of “recommended” tires! Kenda? Valino? Zeknova? Vitour?
props for the drift games shout out, and love tech tip Tuesday, but we need a tire ranking list
One mistake I see a lot is way too much spring rate and/or swaybar. These REDUCE grip, even if the reduction in roll can help in some cases. The suspension only keeps the tires on the asphalt when it goes through it's full range of motion during a run. If you are only using a couple inches of travel, you are leaving a lot on the table in most cases. Hence why you see many cars with OEM shocks and springs really shine, and many with coilovers constantly spinning. But the real devil is where and when you want the grip. Want more or less over/understeer? Do you dive into the corners or take a late apex? Fast twitchy turn-in or slow easy steering? It all goes from applied science to seat-pants voodoo if you aren't careful in tracking variables. The worst part is when we make assumptions something will help, only to realize no real gain from a substantial "upgrade". I have personally realized a depressingly long list of these.
Really enjoyed this video
Looking forward to seeing you in Mondello competing and supporting the Drift Games crew
well said at the end of Video!
Let's see a video running stick suspension with a good tire VS a setup suspension and a crap tire.
Damn I love knowledge!
Rain will make or break for tire versus geometry argument. Sure in the dry, the higher grip tires will give you grip advantage, but usually the higher the grip tires are worse in the rain and geometry becomes so much more important the lower the road friction gets.
When I picked up my 350Z I was drifting with Chineses crap tires Frt and Rear. The car would understeer like crazy and then snap oversteer and spin. Nightmare. I threw some Falken 510s up front and Accelera PHi on Rear. Not the best or most expensive but the car is transformed. Front goes where I point it and the rear has better bite both side and fwd and reacts to throttle inputs. It has BCs and alignment but the tires is where I made the gains.
One love DRIFT GAMES ❤
Haven't watched this yet, but I hope you also talk about how to pull grip out of a car because I've got way too much in my is300 and I'm running 70psi in cold 215 Kenda's.

70 psi on a 215 kenda. And still too much grip. Drive harder

If youre over 50-60 psi it rounds out the contact patch and you’ll have premature wear on the midline of the tire. Just add camber and remount the tires inside out when you use up the inner half of the tread
The next video should be about tires
Dude nice shirt! 😂
What are the top three tires in your mind?
I’m curious, how do you adjust when you have a tire limitation for certain competitions like the gambler and some pro-am leagues where your stuck on a 235 tire width
@RAWSIN13

If you can’t change the width and you’re limited in the tread wear rating. Then as Josiah said you need to find a good tire brand. Because even though two tires might be 200tw the compound and the way they act in drift and how quickly they’ll fall off will be different from one manufacturer to the other. After that you’ll have to look at your suspension and they and find ways to maximize your set up on every track
So what tire do you rank the highest?
Could we get a tip Tuesday on driving tandem tips
i need to improve recovery time in a straight axle mustang, 265 valinos feal coilovers how can i improve?!?!

Weight and weight distribution. Also if your using an 08C then go to the 08R or RS
Is it due to cost that people run cheaper tires?
@02bluehawk

Personally I think is a combination of cost and lack of information about the tires. With alot of the people we look to for factual information on set ups having a tire sponsorship guess what tire they are going to recommend. In the autocross and road course racing world like he said if you arnt on the right tire you lose so it's very easy to see which is the best for that day and surface cause yea certain tires do better on asphalt than concrete and vise versa as well as track temperature can determine which tire is best for that day and obviously rain is factor as well. At national tour autocross events I've seen people bring 4 different brand sets of tires and depending on what the weather, and track surface was like would determine what tire they use
What you tink about Dmcc running all the same shitty tire?
And here is why you can’t win in DriftMasters if you don’t run Valino 😂 Thanks for the good content 🙌

@@DSIMAO99 You know what I mean, you can’t win without extra sticky tires with low tw
Didn’t Chelsea debunk this? A while back he posted a video drifting on tiny spare tires when he was doing the school stuff

Yes, but that was a front grip test which is not very important for speed in drifting as rear grip.
