my wife is a GA and i love this history

From Kush straight to Canaan (Palestinian- Israel region). Later moved to Egypt, then traveled down the Nile to Ile Ife , Benin , Togo, Volta region, all the way to the current location...Ga Adangbe are of the priestly tribe of Gad, Levi and Dan.. They're ruled by high priest but later changed to kingship but under normal circumstances they are supposed to be ruled by their high priests/ Wulomo...They're not concerned about worldly stuff and inheriting properties...they are community/ family centred...it a character they inherited from their leader Ayi Kushi's teachings...friendly, unselfish and love people regardless of their backgrounds...Some of them possess Akan names like Osei, Offei , Ababio etc....Omaye ablawo!!

Great points! My research about the Israel tribes show that the Ga's are from the Tribe of Benjamin, like Apostle Paul, King Saul, and his general Abner etc. They are brilliant Warriors and fearless fighters! In Israel, the tribe of Benjamin were one of the fiercest warriors. In the book of Judges, they defeated all the tribes of Israel in a battle when they rebelled against them until God showed how they could be defeated. Great military generals have emerged from Gas, General Odartey Wellington, General Kotei etc. Ga's have always produced fine Snr military officers and leaders! They are zealous like Apostle Paul, who none of the disciples could stand because of his zeal for the gospel of Christ. Apostle Paul fearlessly took the gospel to all the cities of the world. He was beaten, imprisoned and ship wrecked but he went back again and again, becaus of his zeal! That is the quality of the tribe of Benjamine = Ga's which you cannot take from them. There is a reason God picked a Ga' man to send the gospel to the whole world.

Kush Egypt, Ethiopia and Cannan were all ancient kingdoms. He even gave their leaders name as Ayikushie which means son of Kush. So why they claiming to be Israelites?.

@@inno3912 you can easily confuse the land or "WHERE" they are coming from with "WHO" they are. Some can come from Accra but is a Fante, or Ashanti or from the North. Remember the Israelites came from the land of Canaan, but they are Israelites not Canaanites. So in the same way, because they traveled from Canaan all the way to their present location, they could have lived in the land of Kush for a long time until they were forced to move to present day Ghana. And when they live at that place they adopt names and customs of that land for a period, but it doesn't mean they are Kushites or Egyptias for that matter. So you have to understand these differences otherwise you will rush into false conclusions. the Tribe of Benjamin always lived near Judah and Levi just as they were in Canaan, and that's how the Lord by His mercy has brought Ga's (Benjamites), Akans (Judahites) and Ewe (Levites) together in the same land, just as it was in Canaan. It is not coincidence, it is by divine design. That is why Ghana is a God-favoured nation among all african/black peoples. Right from independence, God bless.

​@@samuelkwekubentil9897Are you listening to him. He said Gas were the only Israelites, that's why they practice circumcision and influenced the Akans and other tribes in the south. I think in another narrative about the Gas. So that means Akans are not Israelites let alone Judah. Akwetey Ammah is using that fact to rubbish the Akans and to dispute that Akans are calling themselves Israelites. And you are here supporting that Gas are Israelites. How can someone be called son of Kush and even chief of the Nile, and you still call the person Israelite instead of Kushites. The Nile is in the land of Kush which is present day Nubia.

Also the Ga people have always believed in one God whom they call Ataa Naa Nyomor. It was later that some few Ga people began to mimic the Ashanti's by bringing in the Otigali worship. But even that didn't take root. As a young girl when I was growing up a day before homowo my grandmother will ask us all to go to bed early and before going to bed all the doors posts will be maked with red clay as iconic representation to symbolise the Passover as stipulated in the Bible. I witnessed my grandmother and the rest of our relatives using hyssop for purification ritual the same way as in the Bible. History is better told by the people themselves. It is better coming from the horses own mouth. Having said that he has done his best to enlighten some people . Thanks

Lawyer Frimpong is on point but I disagree with where he said we don’t believe in one God. Yes we do believe in God called Mawu (Ataa- Naa Nyonmor. Ataa because HE has the strength of father and Naa because of love of mother) . We do have other deities which we call them as Jemawoji (Angels) and they are intermediaries between God and us just as Christians believe in Jesus Chris or the Angels . We don’t worship any God apart from Ataa Naa Nyonmor . In Kpele cult we say “wɔtsu wor.. we are sending deities)

Asante army was a combined forces of the 7 states of Asante Kingdom, entire northerners, Bono, Wassa, Akwamu etc. These war are between Asante Vs Akyem and their allies. People should know this.

The land of Accra belongs to the Guans, not the Ga’s. The Guans were living in the coastal Plains of Accra before the arrival of the Ga’s. Nkran came from the word "ants" (Nkra Ne). Some disagreement in the comment which i think is normal but we should understand that our history needs to be opened up for true healing to begun. We keep pretending that we are one people but we cannot be comfortable enough to hear our history. Its common for one ethnic group to dominate and if you research Europe or another country you see same. Uk is one example where English dominates yet there are other languages recognised as well one being Welsh. In UK its in the history here that the Ashanti's system of rulership is the most civilised they found around their empire days because the British saw similarities. More so Azumah is not a Ga Man, fullstop. There are many Northerners born and raised in Kumasi, Accra and else where across the nation, it does not wash their ethnicity away just because they were born and raised else where, rather than their native home towns.

@ghanafo Well, Azuma's ancestry hails from Brazil. The former slaves who were freed in Brazil were sent to Freetown and Ga among other locations. With your logic, I think you would say that Desmond Tutu was an Asante since he had the same name as Kweku Dua. Tutu! You are not reading. You are confusing Azuma with Bukum Banku who is a northerner and aburi guy. Azuma's ancestry, as I said, goes back to Brazilian slavery emancipation.

Who can narrate the Ga history better than a Ga? Yes I have listened to his narrative though he did his best to enlighten some people in a best way that he could, he didn't quite get it accurately enough. I will say fairly accurate. The Ga people totally beat the Ashanti people at the Katamanso war single handedly. The evidence is still there.

The Ga people believe in one God not many that is why we call Him Ataa Naa Nyomo

The problem is, you like using a language which every listener might not understand, even when we are interested. Please speak a universal language.

It is spiritual. Gas will always Humilate Ashantis. Remember the Cup Winners cup final match in Kumasi in 2005 when Hearts took the CUP? It was a spiritual replay of the Katamanso War. Ghana cannot succeed without Gas. Please see how Ghana is now without Gas. It is sad indeed.

Put things in correct perspective. Ga people don't have tradition that the husband and the wife lives should live separately. It is personal choice not based on Ga tradition. You are trying to enlighten people which is good but you haven't got quite correct. I am writing as a Ga.

The Gas dont have any gods to their name. They adopted them as they migrated. If you doubt you can visit a shrine and listen to the language the preist speak when they are possessed.

To me it is very patronising, why can't they invite Ga historians to come and narrate the Ga history?
