He is surely one of the most intelligent, observant and gifted people I have ever witnessed. He has more drive and ambition than myself and 3/4 of this world ever thought about having. In three years, the level of skill he has is more than astounding, coming from someone is 57 and has been playing since I was 16 or 17 and was in a band for 11 or 12 years playing rock and metal, and a small bit of blues, I never practiced and woodshedded like this kid. Natural talent plus there's a very good chance his Dad played guitar, too. My friend's Dad always wanted to be a professional player, but for one reason or another settled on becoming a physician, but made a point of putting a guitar in his own son's hands as soon as he could. Then from what I understand he literally forced this kid to practice scales for like 4-6 hours a day at a minimum, and by the time he was 14 he could shred with the best of them. That's all there is to it, if you want to play fast like this, you should be spending as much time practicing scales (which are extremely boring) and beyond that just doing technical exercises. The most important thing is consistency, it's better to practice for 10 minutes a day every single day than it is to practice 3 hours once per week. I am guessing his Dad knew a lot and passed it on to him and/or he had what seems like a live in teacher. Natural ability doesn't explain all of it. The #1 thing that's a definite is he practiced a lot .

@@voteZDLR what some people call "natural talent" isn't really natural talent. It's called musical and artistic intelligence. Some people think that intelligent people are the ones who are good at math and stuff, but there are various types of intelligence. This kid is very good musically wise, he's probably very smart at it, his aptitude ends up being better, his understanding and technique were developed faster than any other kid with not that much inclination for musical intelligence was. It's also obvious that he practiced a lot of scales, his coordination is incredible, he studied a lot of malmsteen since he was playing in phrygian and the phrasing is particularly close to malmsteen. Technically, the solo did not work with the rest of the tune, but it was so well executed that it was perfect in my eyes. And yes, the key is consistency. Playing constantly. You don'tneed to play 10 hours a day, but if you play 2 hours every day consistently you'll improve A LOT. That was always my problem. I've always had people saying that i'm very good at music, but I lack discipline to study and practice every day. I'm sure I would be a better musician if I was more consistent on it
@voteZDLR
3 жыл бұрын
@@pedrosilvamusician Yeah I agree with you on all points. Whatever you call it, musical intelligence or natural ability -- he has it. But he wouldn't be able to do what he does with the intelligence alone. A lot of what he can do, regardless of any of the aforementioned, comes down to motor skills anyway. And it's very clear he's played a lot of scales. And yeah repetition with anything you want to learn is extremely important. Especially an instrument like guitar, but really that can be applied to anything. It's consistency more than it is like "Oh if I dedicate 1000 hours to something I will be as good at it if I spent 100 days practicing 10 hours a day as I would've been if I spent 500 days practicing 2 hours a day." So yeah, I do agree with you though.

If you can learn string skipping, sweeping and the key the song is in then you can literally learn it in like three maybe four days. It depends on your technical ability though, like for me as an example. I can't play anything except like riffs and crap, my ability isn't that great but someone like let's say maybe Rob Scallon, he could probably learn this within like a week and have it out by the end of the weekend on KZread. It's all technique, ability and where you are as a player. But yes. You're right, it takes an immense amount of skill and time to learn something difficult if you've never done anything like it before.

I'm a sixty one year old guitar player. Been playing since I was ten. I was one of the kids whose jaw hit the floor when he heard eddie van halen for the first time. And again when yngwie hit the scene. Gilbert Is The first generation Spawn From the o g shredders. Never in my wildest dreams what if I imagined that 13 year old kids In Russia, what would be shredding With Ease Passages like this. It took me many years to be able to get even close to paul gilbert. I guess with the internet and 8 million books on how to play the guitar and technique. The mystery has been unlocked. No longer are guitar players other worldly. God's because it could be taught to school children. The reality is we are just parrots who can replicate anything we see and hear The road is easy to travel once it's been paved, one must think of that. Yes, these kids are amazing, But they Wouldn't be able to do what they do if it Hadn't been done before. Every generation takes it a step further.

I'm sure I would be a better musician if I was more consistent on it
@voteZDLR

I did the same thing when I was his age, with a tennis racquet in front of a mirror, dreaming of becoming a rockstar😂

Desde Argentina impresionado con este muchacho..!!! From Argentina impressed with this boy ... !!!
He should cover the Space Ship Live version of this, the interlude solos work best in that version.
I think some scientist was goofing around and mixed Buddy Holly and Van Halen's dna. Now we got Max Ostro.
worth every second!
Simply amazing! Your skills at such a young age!
LOL 7th grade.... (throws guitar out the window) Like what even goes through this kid’s head @ 13 years old? He looks so comfortable and sophisticated lol
