Max McLean: Narrating the Bible was humbling -- I'm a 'finite being dealing with infinite thought'

Max McLean, who has the lead role in the new C.S. Lewis-themed film "The Most Reluctant Convert," discusses what he is best know for: narrating the Bible. People "didn't know what to do with it. It was like, 'My goodness, this is too overwhelming.'" McLean narrates The Listener's Bible.

I love Max McLean’s voice when I choose audio version. Sounds like a cool professor or a nice uncle’s voice lol. So nice to match the face with the sound 🤗

Wow! I’m glad I came across this. I’m feeling kind of low today so sitting at my desk at work I went to the audio bible on Bible Gateway. I love listening to the KJV, narrated by Mr. McLean. I thought he was British!! Thank you for this clip. My spirit feels lifted already!

This man and his narration is Brilliant! I have been listening to a Bible App since 2019. His VOICE is amazing. The cadence and intonation is perfect. When he read whatvI called "the begets" - you know- ancestory & lineages... The names became important. This event was important because this person is the son of or brother of an important person. Or look this great event is important because this person came from the lowliest of this particular tribe, etc. I had to find you Mr. Mclean. Thank-you. 🎉 wow

I am throughly enjoying his reading of the Bible. Started with him in Matthew Ch. 1 and am in Titus now. What a talented man. Also, I am wondering how many breaks he had to take when reading the genealogy section in Luke 3. I said outloud, "Dang, he is hanging in there!"

I came across Max Mclean on the recommendation of a friend of his Gospel of Mark stage presentation. Though I have read Mark several times, this "performance" made the gospel come alive to me. I'm in the middle of The Listener's Bible and am so thankful for faithful and talented people like Max. Thanks for sharing this interview!

Awesome. From all my listening I wasn't sure which side of the Atlantic he is from, which is something I've heard people question about my own voicings. I adore his KJV work. His voice and diction "cook" the words perfectly and his sense of momentum brings about emotion at incredible moments.

Thank you for this interview with my favourite Bible translator! (that's exactly what Max McLean does) Max reads like he has intimate knowledge of every character in the Bible. It's incredible and definitely a gift. My mother used to buy the Bible on LPs and I enjoyed listening to those but Max takes it to a whole new level. Biblegateway is now my favourite online Bible reference because of Max McLean. I actually prefer him reading to me than reading to myself.

His voice is equal to the greatness of Morgan Freeman. I need an 8 hour long affirmation with his voice. ❤

They just took his voice off the NiV version of Bible app with their new update. So upset!
