Max Lucado - Fearless Sermon Series 1

Музыка

Max Lucado (born January 11, 1955) is a best-selling author and writer and preacher at Oak Hills Church (formerly the Oak Hills Church of Christ) in San Antonio, Texas. Lucado has written more than 50 books with 65 million copies in print, including three recipients of the Charles "Kip" Jordon Gold Medallion Christian Book of the Year (Just Like Jesus, In the Grip of Grace, and When God Whispers Your Name), and has appeared regularly on several bestseller lists. After serving as the pulpit minister for 20 years, Lucado announced in early 2007 that he was stepping down due to health concerns related to atrial fibrillation. Lucado has since assumed the ministry role of writing and preaching at Oak Hills. He co-pastors the church with one of Willow Creek's former teaching pastors, Randy Frazee.
Lucado was named "America's Pastor" by Christianity Today magazine and in 2005 was named by Reader's Digest as "The Best Preacher in America." He has been featured on The Fox News Channel, NBC Nightly News, Larry King Live, LLBN, and USA Today. His books are regularly on the New York Times Best Seller List. He has been featured speaker at the National Prayer Breakfast. (Wikipedia.com)

I have a good memory and a bad memory from remarks in this sermon. The good memory is storms. Since a young age, I have loved massive thunder storms. I would go out walking in the middle of the storms and loved it. I love the sound of thunder and the beauty of lightning. The bad memory was when he asked if we had ever been in a house fire. When I was 8 years old our house burned down in the night. I was in the hospital for 2-3 months and my 3 y/o brother was burned to ashes in the fire. I still remember that, but fear no longer holds me. I pray that God can still use me as a mouthpiece for him. TY, F.

As a new Christian in 1989 & so very eager & hungry to learn more about who Jesus is, a friend from church gave me the book, "It Happened One Friday." by Max Lucado. I was flying from Vegas to Cincinnati to attend a custody case over my 2 year old daughter (a lifetime consequence from my previous lifestyle), and I read this awesome book that also helped settled my nerves. Of course my Bible was also on my lap as I went back & forth. My Christian growth & walk was strengthened on that plane trip & night before I was to appear in court, I held my little one praying over her & then ended my prayer, with giving this most awesome child He had blessed with me back to God. "She is Yours, Father, she belongs to You & is only on loan to me to raise as You would want her to be raised. God had placed 3 miraculous events within a week & year before I surrendered life, saving this precious little one from being my 11th abortion. I won the case & 3 years later, I worked 6 years at our local CPC, rejoicing each time a young woman changed her mind about having an abortion & cried when they stayed firm with decision to have one. The healing I had to go thru for my own, was the hardest healing I had to go thru, more than all the other severely dysfunctional previously lifestyle He also healed me from, going all the way back to my childhood. I always remember Max Lucado & his book It Happened One Friday that was instrumental in teaching me that there was someone who loved me enough to die for me.

Wish I had married a Christian like Max. Some of us might not have listened and heeded messages and sermons like this as we were growing up, but it would have helped at least some of us. Prayers to all. Thank you again for another superb sermon, Max.

I wonder how many people who are members of the Church of Christ know that he now has his own program on TBN. Max has really left the Church of Christ and hard core Church of Christ people have really given up on Max. It is so sad that Christians can not get along.

This is a great sermon. One thing I didn't understand was when you said that "love is the most common command of Jesus but it's not the most common". Maybe it was some kind of slip of the tongue 🤔💬. I'd like to know what you meant. Other than that, this was an awesome message! Thank you and thank God!
