"There alot of disabled people that play this game." I was in a car accident back in 2011 that left me 75% paralyzed. I can move my arms and wrists but none of my fingers and i use an assistive device so I can type and play video games. I have all classes at 90. I've completed all ex's on patch week. I have completed all savage raids within the month its released depending on my schedule (through party finder). Xeno is 100% correct here. If I can double pull and use cooldowns as a tank literally without raising a finger, then so should everyone else.

Everyone's experiences are gonna be different. That being said, maybe they need to make an option where people like this and thier friends can just run dungeons with bots. It's not fair to ruin the experiences of random people because you want to play the game how you want to play it.

@@franksta21 That isn't even an excuse, you'd still not be pulling aggro and having the trust NPC's die to every other mob in the pack. Especially since sometimes the AI isn't fast enough to run outside of some AOE casts.

In endgame dungeons, there is really no excuse. I don't expect people to be perfect or do amazing dps or even be max geared. I expect people to press buttons, and play their role remotely correct. I go college full time on campus and work 24-32 hours outside of that. I have one or two nights a week I can play. I don't want to waste it playing with some idiots who refuse to try at all. I'd just leave the dungeon and add them to my blacklist. That thing is huge with only people who CHOOSE to suck at the game.

If you share these mutual feelings of "let's get this done quickly and not waste each other's time", you will naturally want to play well enough to get through fast, and you won't upset any of us for messing up something small. It's players who learn Cure at level 2 and spend 88 levels casting that one spell that are an insult to other players' time.

I’ve enjoyed how FF14 works cause the bosses normally hit you with one mechanic introduce another then hit you with both or some variation. Most players are patient and I can usually adjust but I always take my friend with me as a red mage as assurance.

Like, even if a completely new player gets both a story and a level skip, they would still need to go through ALL of Endwalker's MSQ to get access to the Lunar Subterrane. Not knowing what to do by that point is a laughable notion.

to play devil's advocate, arguably he COULD have done endwalker msq and all the unlocks as.. a summoner? And only used single target spells because they have higher potency and nobody called him out because they didn't notice since the summons themselves are automatically aoes. Then leveled a tank to 90 in.. uhh.. heaven on high solo runs with single target pulls? And in that very specific unrealistic case I would understand not knowing to aoe to hold aggro. but EVEN THEN mane did nothing wrong politely asking the tank to please use aoe

I don't get to say it very often because as much as people like to clown on the "you don't pay my sub" people, I find it actually gets said remarkably rarely. But when it does, my favorite retort is "You don't pay mine either but you seem fine with wasting its time"

The fact that some people are so grossly entitled that they think they can refuse to be a team player in this team based game is bafflingly sad. No, you ain't more important than other players. Do your job or crawl off to the NPC helpers. They won't care if you can't play the game at all.

I dislike the "they might be disabled" argument because if you're THAT disabled luckily the devs have turned this into a single player game specifically for you. If you want to go through and enjoy the game at your own pace you have trusts you can enter the dungeon with on the first playthrough. There's no reason to make excuses for any of these people wasting others' valuable time. Be kind and respect people's time.

There's always gonna be that stupid white knighter that pulls the "wHaT iF tHeY'rE dIsAbLeD" card 🙄 We have trusts on everything now, exactly. While normally I absolutely hate the "then don't play the game" take, if you are actually learning disabled to the point where using a single finger to press even just 1 AoE ability (cause you don't even need to combo to hold aggro tanking is that easy) then you probably shouldn't be playing a game that requires cooperation outside of 2 player with your friend who's okay with that. I actually know someone who is completely blind, she does Savage raids, is she great at them? No, and she does have to use an external tool or two for warnings, but she can clear without deaths. Really the kind of people that try and white knight with the whole "disabled maybe" thing are kinda just insulting disabled people 'cause a lot of them that are highly disabled are still very functional

Disability and IQ are meaningless to actual intelligence and are also not related to eachother. Using the term of "disabled" in place of "inconsiderate idiot" is the most backward form of politeness I think I've seen in a long time. Edit: forgot to add context of my being autistic and having ADHD, including the color blindness against some blues and yellows. I used to warn people in Mt. Gulg that I couldn't see the yellow AOEs on the glowing white floors because of it (glad they changed the tone of the floor, it's just enough to where I can see the difference between the floor and an AOE if I'm really looking extra hard) but my point is that if you have a disability that impacts the way you play, just warn people at least. Most people are chill enough to help if you just let them know that you need it so you don't look like you're being lazy or purposely obnoxious when you're really struggling to do your best.

even if you are disabled, if you're capable of running around, you are definitely capable of pressing 1 AoE button. the sensitivity of some of the people in this community blow my mind. I went to a discord community server on recent downtime and saw somebody who was so fucking sensitive that they were accusing somebody of being passive aggressive when somebody else linked a useful resource to somebody else asking a question like are you fucking ok please go see a therapist for your own good

Mane Tank is one of the chillest people I've ever had the pleasure of playing with. If he's calling someone out for messing up, then it's something pretty egregious, and he's always at a minimum respectful. Here's hoping that he has a better time in the future!

I did a dungeon one time where a french tank used single target on packs. We told him in french by translating how to aoe. After this, he used AoE on the boss.

@@Incensement This is such an eye-opening statement for me, no exaggeration. I've been playing this game for years, and seeing it get dumbed down over the expansions has felt so sh***y. The whole time I'm wondering why, and your comment is absolutely correct. The issue was never that the game is too difficult. It's that lazy people will always try to do 90% of minimum, no matter what the minimum is. And even worse, there will be people like the SAM who will defend not doing the minimum. And if you, as the designer, lower the minimum, the 90% also goes lower. When you put it this way, it makes CBU3 look like such novice developers, to have made this their faulty design philosophy...

Deliberately not using AoE abilities as a tank is outright griefing and if anybody in that party should get banned, it's that guy.

Actually, no. DPS job is controlled DPS. If the DPS can see the tank is only single targeting enemies and not aoeing, the DPS should follow suit. As long as the enemies are on the tank it doesn't matter if the tank is single Stargeting or AOEing. By your logic they is 0 reason why a healer most used spell should be dealing damage and not healing; a DPS just sitting on a cooldown and just watching it gathering dust, you could even say a Tank running into a trash pack and not using any form of a cooldown.. All three still happens and it is a common occurrence within the game. Now, as i said before, do i think the guy was being a dick? 100%

@@Vokcas If your on White Mage, your most used spell would really be Holy during trash pulls followed by weaving a Tetragrammaton when needed, then maybe a Lily or two afterward. If the Tank is using Cooldowns then Healers don't have to heal them as often, that goes double if that Tank is a Warrior.

I Raided with mane tank before. Each encounter they were always patient, Chill, very helpful… The fact that even when you give these people tips on how to play better they find every reason to get defensive as well

Not using your AOE as a tank in an endgame dungeon is literally just griefing. Its less than the bare minimum, you have to almost go out of your way to not do that.

Man we all had to play with that one Tank who uses no CDs on packs then when they reach the boss they PRE-CAST all their tanking CDs and when I tried to tell them how to do it correctly their DPS friend said "can you just heal and stop talking please they're new to the game". Excuse me what ?

@@cyanmage1 Yeah and then this Guys try P10S and not able to survive Harrowing Hell without Tank LB3 because they have to heal at once.

In the lvl 81 dungeon I informed a RDM sprout they needed to AoE because the tank was wall to wall pulling and dying because the mobs would be alive so long the tank and I would run out of Mitigation/Healing resources. And then asked them if they needed any help with understanding any abilities and if they did feel free to ask, I assumed they story skipped and might not know. I was told I was bulling the RDM by both the tank and other DPS and told it was my fault that I didn't know how to heal. The RDM never said anything, but did switch to AoEs and suddenly we were getting through pulls. All while being lectured by the other DPS about not telling people how to play and how I just don't know how to heal, yet they weren't going to do smaller pulls to compensate on no one was doing DPS. I was so astounded I didn't even reply to anything they said. So, me letting the RDM know why we're dying and offering to explain further and help with any questions was a terrible thing to do. Now if I ever encounter that again, imma just leave and not say anything.

The best thing about this drama is that the SAM(Rudrake) actually made a response video with a lot of stupid arguments : "This SMN had more aggro than me, he had BiS weapon and I don't" Mane was rocking a 645 relic and a few 635/660 gear. "The tank couldn't hold aggro on boss" basically telling the tank is unable to press 1-2-3 even on single target. "SMN was pulling ahead" Mane posted a replay of the pack where he died on twitter, he was with the group the entire time.

I like how people want to say it's "asking too much of the newer players" when AoE combos on big groups is literally explained by the in game's tutorial. I think some people believe that the AoE spam was something that the community found it when in reality the devs designed to be used this way and inside the game you are taught to do this to maintain aggro.

A couple weeks ago i got in an argument I was leveling DPS and this tank kept dying on SINGLE pulls in Vanaspati me and the other DPS checked on the tank and he was wearing a mix of level 70 and Edenmete( the normal mode) gear This wasnt his first tank either, he had a level 90 PLD and he was on a level 85 DRK so we kept asking why he couldnt just buy TOMESTONE gear, at least get cryptlurker and the Healer who was a mentor kept defending the tank ,saying that the tank didnt need to gear and had enough gear he had like ilvl 480 on average when people struggle vanaspati with full cryptlurker already which is 530 They kept saying the tank was unlucky and he needed to get gear from this dungeon, and this MENTOR, this like full 90s mentor, healer, didn't knew that there was a tomestone armor seller in the Crystarium Me and the RDM were like :You can just buy better gear with poetics HealeR: No you cant, poetics are only good until level 70 Us: No? there's a seller that sells 80 gear? Healer: Since when?! Us: Since...Endwalker released? It was a slow dungeon since at least 3 of the 6 single pulls this tank died and i lost faith in humanity, i still have the chatlog i sent to my friend. But the amount of these ''mentors'' who think being nice means forgiving stupidity is incredible, no one asks you to be the best, just...do the basics.

Funny related story. I (maining tank, pld) am in Kugane. I have my lvl 70 class quest gear. Queue into ~70s dungeon (mainstory questline). Yea this gear is the same level as content I'm about to do. Wow, I'm getting hit pretty hard. Green drops, it's 350+ ilvl. My lvl70 class quest gear is ilvl 290. Turns out lvl 70 tomestone gear is ilvl 400. My lvl 70 class quest gear is more like lvl 62. I'm tanking a 70 dungeon with ilvl 290 gear.

Not long ago I was leveling RDM and I had PLD in party in dungeon. He also didn't use aoe skills so we few times had aggro on us. He told us it was our fault because we are pulling other mobs. He clearly didn't understand that mobs are in packs together and if you take one others will come but you must hit them all to have aggro. He didn't want to listen.

When I was farming for starbird with npcs, Thancred was actually a great tank. Him and Urianger together can handle double pulls just fine and can even hold the aggro with me doing aoe damage. The npcs are better than this tank...

I honestly think people only defend this behavior online because they know that they will never actually have to play with these people. Just to put things into perspective: You learned an AOE attack before your first dungeon WAYY back in Satasha. This means 2 possiblities, one is that this person went through every dungeon through every expansion, every story-based fight and mission without EVER attacking more than one person at a time... or that the person did a job skip to lvl 80, and still went through an entire expansion only doing single target damage. The second possibility is that the tank is intentionally trolling. Given how the SAM went insta-hostile I'm guessing the two queued together, so they're conspirators. The idea that a SAM at lvl 90 would willing enjoy single target pulls, boggles the mind.

I'm sorry to tell you, but, according to the SAM's response video, he and the tank were strangers. So... yeah, he's just THAT much of an idiot. The SAM, I mean. As for the tank, who knows.

I loved the handicap comment in chat. I have a brain injury, literal brain damage, and have it mostly together. Either way, it’s a dungeon ffs. People only act like this in dungeons because it’s easy and they can. Most of the time, these are the same kids who would be way to mousey to actually say anything to your face. It isn’t about elitism. It’s about keyboard warriors.

I always have the same type of conversation with people that only press Cure, Physick or an equivalent from the other 2 healers the whole bloody level 50+ dungeon in a leveling roulette. And if they refuse to deal damage, apply shields, HoT or use OGCD heals, I make them actually heal the real deal by pulling everything, literally EVERYTHING. Even if I know their 450 potency GCD healing button won't handle it. And then die and let the dps die too until that healer learns. Fun fact: they are almost always French (I'm on Chaos).

Honestly, this might have been fine if the one guy stated at the beginning "Hello everyone, I'm going to go through this dungeon like I'm a duty support tank, so single target attacks only. Just to prove how brain dead easy this game is." I mean, that's the second best option. The best option is going through the dungeon in a closed group with others willing to suffer through the nonsense. Edit: Might as well also have the DPS and healer also single target the mobs as well. Also lets be real, what's the downside to using other tank aoe skills. I play paladin, and I love seeing the Blade combo, shit is beautiful. I even get the lightshow that is Circle of Scorn.

Every time I hear a story like this (which is unfortunately very often) I just get discouraged from queueing into Duty Finder myself. When there's plenty of other games out there with playerbases that are generally aligned on how the games are played, it just doesn't feel like the risk of taking psychic damage from these people is worth it.

Nah, it's pretty alright. I'm normally the tank, and what I do is manage my expectations. If the healer lets me die in a pull I normally don't, I'll pull less next time. If the dps keeps getting clipped by mechanics, I play the boss fight tighter and more by the numbers. Having played other mmos, the ffxiv community is pretty chill in general.

In ffxiv every other duty I see someone asking for advice, and whenever something goes wrong someone takes the L and apologizes, even if it's minor.

Don't worry about it. I've done enough duties to get the Mentor crown, and I've seen only 2 players play this poorly; one of which was at least somewhat receptive to feedback. These stories only seem common due to the sheer scale of the playerbase; they're actually quite rare.

I have seen many tanks do single instead of AOE when pulling packs. When I tell them about using AOE some listen and some just ignore...

It's crazy how common this is not only on Tank but every role. Most of the time people who don't use AoE are defended by the rest of the group if you call them out on it too. This game is genuinely where all the worst players on every game out there converge and form an alliance large enough to be the overwhelming majority.

It's not that. Its the game where the devs actually ban people for toxic behavior and allow those players a space to exist. So since they can not exist on other games they all are left with this game as their only option. This is a dev created problem, 100%. It is good that they don't allow rampant toxicity like you will find in WoW and other MMO's but they took it WAY too far in the opposite direction and created these toxic casuals. Honestly I am not sure which is worse though, toxic elitists in PUGs are pretty awful too.

I had an opposite occurrence happen back im shb. A healer was only using aoe heal. Like, no other actions, just medica > medica > medica > etc. someone asked them to help deal damage so we can clear faster, and they started being toxic. Everyone sided with the guy and asked the healer to help with damage. The healer got mad, said one final thing, and then left.

Lets also remember that the devs lowered the skill floor by over simplifying a lot of systems over ShB and EW. Some of these changes were actually pretty good for the game, but one of these changes was the over simplifications of tank jobs to make them easier to get into. And STILL, it gets to this. The devs need to realize that these people are just not willing to play the game the way it is meant to be.

@@avrax3497 TBH none of these changes were good for the game lol. All they did is serve to ever widen the gap between normal and actually hard content and make making that jump far harder for new players. Now for 99% of the game people don't even have to learn that you need to read cast bars (something formerly introduced by the mid 40's or earlier). Healers don't need to learn to esuna things or watch for debuffs, and many, many other issues. All of this serves to be a giant wall that players have to learn instantly the instant they want to step past anything related to MSQ.

I personally do be patient for any first timers in a dungeon in case they want to see what everything looks like. I usually heal in dungeons so I get all kinds of tanks. I don't really tell any of them that they can pull as much as they want, but I do this little thing where I move ahead of them a little when they stop on a minor pull as an indicator that they can still keep going. I don't go and pull more packs, but just stand on the edge to where I can heal and not aggro the next pack. It actually works because I can see some tanks hesitate a little wondering if they would be pulling too much for the healers. There are all kinds of healers in this game too, so I get why some would be like that. Usually a tank that hesitates is just trying to be nice, and I have nothing against them.

There are two problems with Hall of Novice tutorial that the devs need to overhaul. First, it's only mandatory for the role that you play as when you're about to do Sastasha. So if they skip ARR and/or having tank as their later jobs, they wouldn't see the tutorial. Second, the Hall of Novice is extremely outdated. It's very clear that it's a relic of what the game used to be in ARR as the tank tutorial taught you to first AoE the pack to grab aggro, then proceed to single target combo. Yes, that's what the tutorial taught you how to tank packs, which I believe was how the gameplay used to be. Are these enough excuse to not knowing how to AoE packs to maintain aggro at high level dungeons? Absolutely not. But the devs really need to address this. Overhaul the whole hall of novice that teach new players how to tank dungeons and trials, and even how to off-tank if we want to be more pedantic. Make it mandatory that they can't queue to DF as that role before finishing the tutorial. If even after this, we have people doing the same, we know for sure they are trolling.

Yep been there. Was a BLM and i was lagging a slightly behind the group because the Tank decided to mass pull the whole dungeon and im just stuck using scathe most of the time there was a few guys the tank didn't aggro that got left behind and started targeting me when i finally started doing mass AOE, Tried to bring the enemies to the Tank but he simply wouldn't aggro them at all I had to switch to the ones targeting me to prevent dieing. Luckily they Sage at the time saw that i was dealing with stragglers and put some heals up (Much appreciated top tier awesome healer) When that part of the dungeon was complete i just made a quick mention "hey you left some enemies behind i tried to pull them to you could you try aggroing them next time?" All i got was "You pull it you tank it." Like .... da faq?

yeah that "You pull it you Tank it." mentality needs to just go out the window along with the "You don't pay my sub" kids and the "Pure" Healers(Those that only Heal, absolutely no DPS or DoTs). It's literally an ego/pride thing that's just so silly. They obviously never played an older MMORPG(or prob any for that matter since XIV tends to be a lot of people's first) where DPS/Ranged DD would be the Pullers/"Fishermen" of the party while the Tanks pulled aggro off those Pulling. Besides the point ik, it's literally 1 button you have to press in 8/10 cases that'll fix all the problems in a run, but people's ego in this game is so sky-high it's baffling.

@@ikeaira8701 if the person is new (level 40 or lower) i usually cut them some slack I dont expect people to know everything right off the bat at any level if it is there first time attempting whatever. That being said If you are my Level (currently level 89) doing the same content as me and still aren't using something a simple as pressing 1 AOE button my respect for your feelings has greatly diminished.

5:55 cleared ultimate with a disability, specifically very limited sensation of touch in both of my hands which makes executing rotation pretty difficult as i cannot fully trust my body to process the input properly + i had very limited range of accessible keybinds. I'm not saying I'm peak of the struggle, I'm just saying that often people who are usually facing limitations like that put their energy on creating workarounds so they can pull their weight rather than just yoloing and expecting others to be fine with that.

This is why I just tank most roulettes I go into... At least if the others are lackluster I know I can survive just about anything as a WAR... Too many times when I Q'd in as a dps it becomes "Guess I'm not allowed to have fun." because someone at End game doesn't read their own abilities and I can't exactly hard carry on an under geared class. Solo'd many a raid in roulettes just to prove a point.... and they still cheered me on >.>

same, i almost exclusively tank in roulettes (mostly becuase working on 700 run titles, 2 down 2 to go), and my god when i dont feel like tanking and run as a dps i get the worst tanks, and as tank i get the worst dps, no hope anywhere

I almost exclusively heal for the same reason. Too many times I've met healers not even able to keep a tank alive against a single pack. Or I get the ones that cannot handle poor tanks, although that one is more understandable and I always feel compassionate when that happens. At least when I heal I feel in control of what's going on regardless of what I get. I can carry a bad tank through almost anything so this is just my preferred way to run stuff now.

Reminds me of Zeromus Ex the last weeks.. i have to explain "Tank Players" that even if they are OT, they should be still second in aggro to be the main target if the MT dies, but now.. MT dies and the boss was able to kill 3 DPS before the OT takes over.

@@Violent_Wolfen Many forget that, even if you are the OT you should be second in aggro, when im OT i start without active Tankstance and then activate it after i finish my opener OR use heavy hitting attacks like Double Down from GNB.. when your MT dies in the first 20-30 seconds, you are not the problem. Its just importent to know that because there are also bosses like P7S (fuck i hate this tree) that attacks the player with the most aggro and the _second_ most aggro, means even if the MT have the boss, when the OT is not the second some dps will die because of Boss autoattacks

Yea... I mean I don't worry too much about being second in aggro, though it would happen naturally as my general approach to offtanking is to not have tankstance on for an entire damage buff+abilities burst window and then keep it on for the rest of the fight. Only dropping it if the MT is not generating enough aggro. With that said, at most 1 DPS would die and that's a big if. The exchange as far as I see it is provoke -> hold aggro. Realizing the MT died and hitting provoke might take a second. Which should effectively be a single attack from the boss. Most of the time, the DPS will survive that attack. Unless it's a tank buster. Correct me if I'm wrong, since this doesn't happen too often. But I'm under the impression that the vast majority of tank busters can not have their target changed once it's started. The only exception I know of is one from an Alexander raid, where the tank is stunned and is unable to bring up a defensive buff to reduce the 90% of their max health hit and you are supposed to tank swap. The OT is supposed to provoke and the target of the tank buster swaps.

I played gnb during an alliance raid today, we had a drk and a warrior on the other teams at some point (I didn't even get to see tbh) they made the boss rotate, and a couple of ppl began complaining, told them that one of the tanks kept tanking away aggro so, it was not possible to stabilize shit. Well I honestly dont know if that was rude to say but 3 healers immediately called me weirdo, that they didn't ask that and such, and I was like, okay fine. And well then the drk and some dps joined in to mock me, began calling me for some reason, the rest of what happened a friend told me(I was with two friends), bc I just hid the chat, as to not see shit, apparently they wanted to force me to pull, its pretty funny too bc in the later bosses the warrior and drk didnt wanted to MT so we stood there for a few minutes every pull. This all happened bc I made that comment, in general what I learned is that older players are the ones who have this sort of behavior. Btw they still made the boss spin and even got half of the raid killed

I usually heal dungeons 90% of the time and what I usually do is I run forward without pulling the next group of enemies to let then tank know they can pull more. And if they don't pull the next mob I will either let them know they can pull more if they're comfortable or leave it be. But sometimes I do feel impatient and i will pull the next mob. Because I'm the healer, what are they doing to do to me? 😂 I will crit shield myself into survival. Lmao EDIT: also if you're struggling in dungeons, there is duty support/trusts for a reason. It's so you don't have to I interact with players at all.

This reminds me of the time my boyfriend and I got Skalla (post-Stormblood, lv70) in roulette and our tank was a Warrior. BF is Ninja and I’m MCH. First pull, WAR pulls the pack… and stays there. And is only doing his single target rotation. BF and I are pulling aggro off of him in waves because we’re using our AoEs. This happens for every pull. No W2W pulls, no AoEs from the tank, no Tomahawks, only Provoke. Please SE, PLEASE push Hall of the Novice more!!

I'm just here bc I follow Mane on twitter and saw this weird molehill getting turned into a mountain by the SAM and figured I aught to give a few and comment to someone who's also talking sense. I've had some absolutely heinous pugs in level 90 dungeons lately, truly the whole gambit of intentionally bad play. I even had a WHM in the Barbariccia trial "disconnect" during the phase transition and force the first timer healer to solo heal all of phase 2, twice. We wiped the first time cause they weren't expecting it and Barbara Ann hits like a goddamn train. DF is always been pretty terrible late in a patch/expac cycle but I really think the Manderville relics exacerbate it somewhat. Really should turn the hunt discord notifications back on so I can just get all my relics with trains instead.

Reminds me of that one time I was doing some dungeon and the tank refused to use even a single mitigation skill and I was left spam healing trying desperately to keep them alive then got mad when they died and I asked them to actually use their mitigation.

Omg this happened to me once. We wiped at the last boss, so I tried to give the tank a tip (they were a drk and I main drk) and they just said how "I wasn't healing". I was, in fact, spamming heals because they just refused to use any shields.

@02:00 I've done this before. The Tank threw a fit and stopped pulling completely. He wouldn't pull anymore, until I was kicked. This was the funniest ineraction I had in my daylies.

One time I had to suffer someone tanking in a lv90 dungeon as a murauder without a jobstone.

omg this happened to me too except it was a gladiator. first pull of course they died. the rest of us managed to stay alive and kill all the mobs. then everyone but the tank just left immediately after xD

if we assume that the one guy was actually his friend, then imagine how low you have to think of your friend, that you think he doesn't have the mental capacity to hit 2 buttons repeatedly. That's downright insulting IMO

Trusts exist for this player. If you have tank anxiety, just run the dungeon with the NPCs so you can make all the mistakes you want until you grow confident.

I couldn’t imagine being that bad at understanding the game. I pretty much had an “aware you’re breathing” moment while levelling Ninja and getting anything between 28-34. It sucks SO much not being able to use AoEs.

I hate the comment about not playing optimally outside of endgame raids. Like, I agree, to an extent. People don't need to be doing optimal rotations, max dps, perfect healing rotation, etc etc. We don't need to shirk aggro to avoid TB's, or set up which healing cd is popped when. It's a leveling roulette, shit's easy, we can derp around and clear it. BUT, simply using aoe skills for an aoe situation isn't elitist nor unrealistic expectations. it's kinda the bare minimum as a tank in the game, and this player (assuming they really are just that bad) is being done a disservice by his "friend" that encourages him to simply play as he wants to. Like, as BLM, it's fine if I'm not popping off my 3x flare's in a row on an aoe trash pack, as long as I'm using my aoe spells in general.

Yeah this is the lvl of entitlement ive had to deal with on a regular in PF/DF for like the last 5 years now. So many players cannot do the BARE MINIMUM. They play worse than NPCs and thats saying something bruh

As a main healer, a tank refusing to use AoE skills and on top of that, not activating his stance is hell... The entire pack is hitting me >.> it hurts lol. Surprisingly it happened to me a lot.

I've played with Ren Tyrant before, I'm almost certain they're a badly programmed bot so there's nothing to bully. They move like a bot, they press abilities in a random order, and eventually they break and stop pressing buttons or using abilities altogether at a certain point.

Run into alot of single target DPS on Elemental. Started doing my roulettes on DNC, so I can give partner to the healer, or tank. Make them feel real stupid.

I honestly hate how weird the culture around Party Finder has become, it's like everyone is afraid to criticize each other because they're scared of the Boogeyman GMs suspending their account. Like I'm not saying you should call people assholes or be rude to anyone, but saying "Hey maybe you should use your Taunt or AOE" shouldn't be met with the sort of backlash that it has been getting over the years. It's like everyone has gotten so tense about getting in trouble that they've when someone does speak up it 9/10 times explodes in peoples faces. When the game was more niche and the rules weren't so vague about acceptable behavior, it seemed like people weren't so hesitant to speak up if someone was doing something wrong. I'm not going to say those days were any better or worse, because there was a lot of toxicity as well, but overall people were more open about talking about improving gameplay and addressing mistakes, and I do miss that aspect of the game.

Wait, a samurai and his tank buddy? SH*T! I MET THOSE GUYS it was around 6 months ago during a storm blood dungeon, our other DPS was fuming in chat while o watched the chaos entail while healing

I’m so sick of the excuse “It’s my first time in this dungeon!” when someone’s performance sucks. If you don’t know a boss’s mechanics and get an orange sticker, fine. Fair, you don’t know. But being in a new dungeon does not change the mechanics of your *job*. It’s still exactly the same as the last 100 dungeons, and I’m horrified to think this tank went through every dungeon in the game refusing to use their AoE weaponskills, with actually competent DPS dropping left and right because they ripped off him instantly and ate shit.

horrors of the duty finder, i remember being in a dungeon with a blackmage around level 65 or so and he only cast fire 1 till oom, then waited for mana to regenerate. no ice, no thunder. just fire 1. it hurt watching and i tried to talk to him but no response

Something that isn't talked about enough is when a NIN's mudra usage looks like: 1. Prepull Huton, no Hide 2. Remaining mudra charge + Kassatsu on Suiton + Doton 3. All filler mudra on Doton I will almost always out-dps this kind of NIN as tank, and sometimes even as healer, too.

I had a tank a couple days ago in Lapis Manilis doing single pack pulls. They at least knew how to do an AoE rotation. I am LITERALLY perfectly fine with taking some extra time, but there is a bare minimum.

im not ppl need to respect other ppls time i had this in expert roulette alongside a healer that didn't heal so i pulled everything tank dies cos healer didn't heal i killed them because bloodbath + aoe ftw then they started whining so i just said respect peoples time and left, and took the 30 minute hit, the other dps a friend i queued with stayed and i had lost the 30 minute lock out and reqeued before they had even finished that one dungeon run

Something like this happened to me but I was the tank, a dragoon was switching between aoe and single target on the trash pulls and did the same for the boss (Lunar dungeon) and I asked what they were doing and why and I was met with “there’s many ways to play this game” and I was kicked after the first boss. (I quite literally only asked that question)

If a person is able to have the brain and physical capacity to get through the ff14 subscription process, double klick the executable and log in into their character, then they should also be capable to click 2 aoe buttons :D

The most recent person i got to play the game got Art of War and was immediately pressing that exclusively until like level 60+. Reading the buttons explains the buttons lol

Whats funny to me is as a tank, is i make sure i get my 1 2 aoe combo on any group i pull before i pull my next group (ex. Total eclipse > Prominence > pull next group > repeat) because i wanna make sure i have full aggro that way the dps can chip away while i grab the next group. I actually remember getting a dps tht kept pulling b4 i could finish so i asked "hey can you wait til i get full aggro before u run off and pull before me?" And only answer i got was "deez nuts" -_-

Had something similar happen in tower of zot, where tank wouldn’t use aoe and party would keep wiping. I should have left but instead I just spammed jolt for the rest of the run since I couldn’t use aoe. Took like an hour

iv been running into tons of tanks lately that keep running circles around mobs and bosses refuse to stand still and when asked go and say because it looks cool

If people do really want to go at their own pace, or struggle with some sort of disability that prevents them from playing the bare minimum... Isn't that what trust is for?

I've had worse. I had a 50/60/70/80 run where the tank didn't aoe, and their gear was like 20 levels out of date. I didn't look at the gear right away, so I tried to get them to aoe. Then I saw how bad their gear was and realized that them aoeing was probably making my life harder because the dps had better mitgation x(

Like most folks have said, even if you level skipped up to the latest expansion you'd still be at the beginning of EW meaning you'd probably would have to be tanking all the dungeons up to it (11 required MSQ driven ones - most of them excruciatingly hard for "newbie tanks" doing single target) as a Tank. There's honestly no excuse to be doing less than the minimum for a tank which is 1) turn on tank stance and 2) get aggro on mobs. It could be possible he level skipped a few jobs but even then, why queue as a Tank for the latest dungeon if you can't even do it correctly. A tank can still get aggro from all mobs if they are the 1st person to get within the mob's range but they end up losing aggro to the healer/dps using aoe's (unless the tank is swapping target for each and every mob in the pull... but why? Just AoE). Like this mentality is just poor player performance overall. It's even worse when you defend this type of thing. Running into this sort of mentality in PF is the reason a lot of people don't do dungeon roulettes. It feels similarily like the "you pull, you tank" mindset that's just off-putting.

This actually is the exact situation (tank that can't hold threat due to idiocy) I found myself in that made me decide to take up Tanking (I'm primarily a DPS main). This happened years ago. Like most people I had already had my fair share of crap tanks and I was starting to get sick of it. The straw that broke the camel's back was during a Haukke Manor run and the tank (Gladiator) couldn't hold aggro. Not only was he not AoE'ing, he didn't even have his tank stance on. This meant that he was not only failing to hold group aggro, but also failing to hold aggro on the mob he was directly fighting. As soon as DPS opened up with AoEs the entire group would just ignore the tank and it'd turn into a clown fiesta. This was back in the day when Flash was a thing, so as a Gladiator the bare minimum he had to do was pop Tank Stance on and just stand there spamming Flash. He'd be a piss poor tank, but at least he'd technically be tanking. But no, despite asking after each of the first 3 pulls for the tank to at least put on Tank Stance he never did. We had already wiped twice because despite not wanting to actually tank the guy was doing big boi pulls, so after the 3rd wipe I bailed on the group. At this point I says to myself, I says "Tanking CANNOT be that difficult." So I picked up Gladiator for myself and discovered that *GASP!* sure enough: Tanking IS NOT that difficult. There's just a lot of fucking idiots out there. As for the video: insisting that the tank was new despite being in an end game dungeon is just another way of saying "My buddy boosted his character and has no fucking clue what he's doing." See, I don't accept that as an excuse. If you're going to boost, that's fine. If you've got more money than time that's certainly a viable option. When you boost, however, you need to do your homework. Take 30 minutes to read and study your god damn abilities and setup your hotbar in a way that makes sense to you. It really isn't that difficult to learn the concept behind a class if you read through all your abilities. Once the study session is done it's off to one of the 10 billion training dummies in the game (hell, just go into a housing district and start working out in someone's front yard if you have to) to work the kinks out of your rotation until you feel like you've got a good handle on things. Long story short: there's no excuse for ol' Dickhead Magoo to not know how to AoE.

Gone through a bunch of tanks like this and I just wind up pulling myself as healer, everyone tanks once all grouped up and I dps and heal at same time. It dont bother me one bit as sage, I got so many ogcds to play with.

I'm sad my whole comment wasn't read ;-; I agree with Xeno! I'm disabled and a tank main and literally doing aoe is the easiest thing in the world. It's not like someone is asking too much just to press aoe. Hell even doing one aoe ability on spam is enough for enmity. It's not cold to expect people to be able to move and use abilities. Not every game should be accessible to every kind of person because it would be literally impossible.

Where are the roulettes like this, 2500 hours and I've never once had to deal with anything like this. At most, the only things in the party chat would ever be 10:26pm: Aiella Mori: hiii 10:41pm: Aiella Mori: tysm

The tank doesn't even need to do their aoe combo. They could just hit the one button that makes them spin in a circle and the dps/healer can run the mobs to the tank.

I had this kind of situation, just because I was ahead of the tank , I didn't pull anything and the tank was mad because big tanky was behind me ... And then her gf said I was toxic and they kicked me at the end of the dung /shrug

I've been running a lot of leveling dungeons lately and tanks that don't AOE more than like, once, are strangely common. But it's leveling, so what can you do besides suggest they do their bare minimum

I had a tank doing maps with me. We were doing in trios: WAR (Him), DPS (me NIN), WHM (my friend). WHM did a mistake and died in the last stage of the map dungeon, its fine we have a WAR. I was using my Bloodbath, Feint and Shade Shift to keep myself alive. As "raid wide" aoes were hitting, there was a point that I died by the sheer lack of HP. The WAR killed, everything is fine, all great... But I was curious about the use of Nascent Flash (25s). I asked the guy if he used he said: "No because I need to keep myself alive and heal". I went to my own WAR in the character, checked the flavor text about Nascent Flash and... well, we have self heal for Weaponskills and 10% mit (to target) and "nullifying dmg equivalent to heal of 400 potency" (shield??), so that could've saved me until the next Bloodbath (90s)... uhh... So I asked him if, in the next time that me and him get alone inside the map dungeon, to use Nascent Flash on me. He got angry and said for me to not call him out about how playing Tank. Needless to say that we finished our open maps and dipped his party after that.

A similar situation happened to me, in level 90 roulette. Tank does mini pulls while he never goes below 80% health because the healer is overhealing and not doing DPS pretty much, so i go in my head "ok next pack i pull the second group and bring it to them, the healer is doing fuck all anyways". I do that, the party stops to let me die and the tank starts running away as im chasing him with the pack 😂😂😂😂😂. I die, pack resets because nobody attacked it and i go "is everything ok, why are you running away?" And the healer replies "why in the fuck would you pull, you're not the tank. The tank was scared so he started to run away!!!" (Mind you, this is still level 90 roulette lol, not sastasha or copperbell). I say to myself "aight these are two idiots, im not even gonna waste my time arguing". I say "alright." and we continue. We get to the first boss, i die because nobody stacks with me. This is where i enter the "fuck this" mode and I don't get a ress for the next 2 minutes, so i take it upon myself to ress out the arena to let them finish the boss by themselves (it took a shitton of time, like 8 minutes). Boss gets finally killed, the arena opens up to continue the duty and the same healer goes "have you learned your lesson now?" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 This is where i go in my ultimate "aight, now imma fuck with y'all because fuck you brainlets" mode and i start using scathe only each mob of the pack pull. They notice something is not right by the last pull before the boss (because obviously the damage was shite) and guess who, that's right the same healer goes "if you're in a rush you can leave, we do not tolerate your elitist savage raider attitude here" while they stop moving forward waiting for the last coffer opened timer reset and i get kicked from the instance 😂😂😂😂😂 I was already expecting to log into gm jail the next day (i logged out right after as i had the usual 30 minutes penalty) but surprisingly i didn't. So there's that at least lmao.

What they did to you is practically griefing. Maybe you could report that. But it's understandable that it's most likely a waste of time reporting them.

I just thought it'd be a funny similar story so I shared it. I could tell many more lol (I've been playing this game since SB so I've been through some bullshit 😂).

The tank running away could be argued I guess but not ressing is 100% griefing especially since they hit you with that "have you learned your lesson" which means it was on purpose. Next time report people like this, it would be an easy case to solve for the GMs.

@@razcipherff7272 nah. As I said, ultimately, I really didn't give a fuck lol. I just shared the story since I thought it was similar to the one in the video and a funny one considering the level of intellect of these individuals lol. I'm not ever gonna report someone unless they do something particularly fucked up like falsely report someone or if they start insulting someone unwarranted from start to finish of the duty (never happened). In my over 5 years of playing I reported someone only once.

@@davidepannone6021 Your story reads exactly like the kind of situation that would warrant a report, I had a simmilar expierience where I was the one tanking but the healer for so reason was so mad I pulled a big pack they called me out of nowhere a 'dog' let me die and then did not ress me, had to go back myself(The dungeon was Temple of qarn). End of the dungeon, report with link to the vid of the run and the whole situation, 20 mins later I get a notif my report was reviewed by a gm. Sure everyone sets their borders of what they consider to be 'fucked up', but if someone acts like an asshole and abuses their role to grief I don't see anything but benefits from reporting them for other players that will encounter them in the future. Btw. I also have been playing for a long time(6 years) and just described my one and only instance of reporting someone. Maybe its just a diffrence in culture of Data centers(EU dood here), but to me case like yours is pretty clear-cut.

This is the reason why I don't mind a bit of hand holding in games like this. You shouldn't get to continue progressing into story dungeons until you go through a solo training instance with npcs that literally explain how to use every move in different situations. Explain what provoke does, what AoE can do in a dungeon with a pack of mobs, how to use mitigation so you don't die. This should be a thing for every role. People underestimate how many people start playing this game and are already completely lost. And everyone is afraid to say something cause of course you'll be the one reported for it.

first time run i can sort of understand not wanting to go wall to wall at beginning to take in the place but to not use aoe to keep aggro on adds is insane its basic tank role to keep aggro off healers and dps so they can do their dps maybe add in a 1-2-3 combo for a bit of recover and back to aoe and shields. had a tank like this that would use the range attack only they kept on dying so we stopped healing them and pocket healed a monk to do the dungeon

I play in Japanese servers, and one day a mentor after finishing dungeon while I was leveling a dragoon in ARR told me to use AoE if there is 3 enemies or more. Never got a complain about AoE attacks to groups since. I guess this person never got that feedback?

Was in a Halatali group yesterday with a sprout group and someone told the tank to AoE before I did. Halatali.

Can't say it's the exact same deal but I do remember trying to max out BRD for fun. Lord help me it was 6.1 and this WAR had full crafted 90 gear and I was running Tower of Zot. WAR would mostly keep his stance off giving the poor WHM the hardest time of our lives! I made note of this only after the fact we wiped once, called out the issues and learnt the WAR didn't do anything to fix it... we spent nearly the whole dungeon wiping in and out and me being forced to kite ANY mobs I nabbed including the bosses. My Co-DPS booked it after 3 wipes on the Sisters and the Tank just up and left leaving myself and the WHM to wait for replacments before finally clearing with 10 or less minutes left. From the whole experience I learnt that people like this exist and god help your soul you don't run into them.

I am almost like 90% sure that guy bought his account. I’m level 51 dps and pressing aoe is actually a tutorial I got when I got the abilities like a week ago

not sure about the GM rules and such, but if they're deliberately griefing the run it should be reportable, just like the SAM's counterattack and rudeness in chat. I've seen too many of these episodes to always go in as tank if i have to do dungeons, which i never do anyways because i do hunt trains for tomes and duty support for story LMAO

To anyone saying blacklist, you can still match them in df. You just won't see them talk

if a tank isn't even holding aggro there's literally no reason to have one in the party. it'll be better in every coceivable way with 3 DPS

Ngl, this is why DPS Jobs should have threat drops so I can pull with impunity and drop threat and force the tank to be a good player.

Lol Its not even the "new" player that's the problem, its literally the so called "veteran" who accompanies the newbie. I cant count how many times something similar like this happens to me, where i try to give advice and its the veteran friend player who gets upset lol! Most recent example was a newbie tank going through a duengon and not using his mits very much and worse, his veteran legend titled friend was pulling ads for him to the point where we wiped a couple of times.

Tbh Veteran Players are often the worst kind of player, they are not just unexperience they are _proud_ when im thinking about WoW i meet some players how plays since Vanilla "I already raided 16 Years ago!" But still play like the worst sprouts, because there is a problem you just dont get "good" in something when you just do it long enough. You need some self critic and will to improve, because some of the most experience Player i meet are "new" to the game, because one sprout who is ready to learn is way more worth then a boomer who want to explain me how good he was back then, after he fucked up the third time in a row

"What if they can't hit the buttons?" Bro, they're doing the single target rotation, that's MORE buttons.

as xeno pointed out, if you can't even hit 1 button (which this tank clearly can otherwise the guy wouldn't even be able to move) then you really shouldn't play this game, it is one thing to only pulling 1 group at a time, it is an entirely different thing to pull X amount of packs, and then proceed to only using single target atks
