Mav 88s are probably one of the best valued guns you could possibly buy.

Iv used mine for 30 years for small game and turkey and never an issue. Actually it’s a great turkey gun. Nothing bad to say

@@chrissewell1608just slightly less attractive than the 500 with the less refined edges, but still a good looking shotgun.
I don't normally remark on peoples ranges, but your range is so clean and well organized. Looks like a great relaxing place to shoot.

THANK YOU!
That's impressive accuracy for such an affordable slug gun. 👍
Best channel on KZread for honest, unbiased, and genuine opinions on firearms. Buffalo is always looking out for hard working Americans that are just trying to protect themselves, their family, and their Country (and on a budget friendly price). Appreciate ALL you do for us common folk Sir!
I bought a 24" Rifled barrel off of eBay awhile ago to use with my Mossberg Model 500A. It currently resides on my Mav 88. A perfect pair.
I was in New Orleans in 2005 when Katrina obliterated half the state. I was staying in Baton Rouge and things started getting sketchy, and at the earliest possible moment, I bought an 18.5" Maverick 88. It was all I could find at the time and it's still one of my favorite yard guns, and still one of my best gun investments. Cheap, reliable, and works as well today as it did 17 years ago. They are great guns for the money but the 18.5" version kicks like a mule on crack.

When the shade started kicking up in 2020, the first gun I bought specifically for defense was the security 8rd cylinder bore 88. Still got it and was surprised at that model's recoil control. The polymer stock helps a lot compared to my wood stocked 500.

Don't you just love it 😂😅😊I do 😊!! Bad Ass shotgun 😊!!!
It's good to see you back on the range, Buff! 👍
Thank you. My nephew lives in Louisville and about three years ago, I took him to a local gun shop and got him an 88 in 20G. God Bless and stay safe.
I have the 28" barrel and have had it for a while. It is just so reliable and have never had an issue with it
Excellent video as usual. Two and half inch groups at 50 yards with iron sights is quite respectable.
They need a 20 inch barrel and full tube version

I think they make a Security Version like that, I have the 18.5”

Mossberg makes a model 500 20" barrel with a 8 shot tube. I have one, but it is a smooth bore without a choke. Meaning it is cylinder bore.
@justplinkin4809
10 ай бұрын
@@jander9820 I think you are correct. Plus, you can modify them, upgrade and swap to fit your needs. I found a regular cheap Maverick 88 with a 24” barrel in a pawn shop and it was like new but I have no need for a hunting shotgun. So, I bought an 18.5” Security barrel and a different, shorter, stock. It looks kind of like an AR stock. Yes, it still has the short mag tube but it’s a bump in the night gun.

I always have a spotting scope in my range bag. It saves me from walking back and forth to the target.
@JD-tn5lz

Even some good binos would have done the trick on that range day.
At distances up to 100 yards, any inexpensive spotting scope is a real time saver. Might be the perfect birthday or anniversary present to your better half that you can borrow! ;-)
Brenneke are great slugs, been using for 40yrs. They pack a serious wallop.
Good to see you again Buffalo. That was impresive you running down range keeping the camera steady & not being out of breath. 😁👍 looking forward to more videos.
Hey Buffalo! Nice seeing you again.
I surely did miss the sound of that sweet banjo pickin'..... 😍 Good to have you back Buff.
Thanks, Buffalo! "Holes in the collection" are not acceptable! They must be filled 👍 Looks like a good, sturdy hunting shotgun. With an interchangeable barrel, or 2, it can be very versatile. If the slugs punch those clean holes in tissue, they will be very deadly. Obviously, they are very stable and accurate in that gun.
It will be interesting to see what they do in gel, nice to see you back in the saddle.
Owning 4 of them so far and regularly use them. I can honestly say they are tough guns and you can't beat the price!
Welcome back Buffalo, good to see you again.
What a beautiful sight!! Not a bad looking shotgun either. Glad to see your mug back on the range. Don't leave us hanging like that again. Since you haven't heard it in a while, great video Buffalo. Keep doing what you do. Stay free!! Thanks brother!!

I love ya too brother. To say I'm jealous just doesn't get it. You have earned the lifestyle you have now. Enjoy it to the absolute fullest!! I won't be far behind. Counting the days until retirement.
I've got one of the old ones (from Kmart) that's got a teflon coated finish on it and a couple of chokes. It's been a great squirrel and turkey gun last 27 years with no issues.
Never get bored with ya buddy. I now want a slug gun to match my 88. Those slugs are awesome. That site will need watching. Take care
That’s a great set of sights for an 88! Awesome!!!
I own 2 Maverick 20 ga"88's" 22" Barrel ,one slug for deer( Vortex Diamondback) and one for turkey (Vortex Crossfire 2) I LOVE BOTH OF THEM 😍😍 !!
Dollar for dollar the 88 is great value!
Missed ya man!!

Say there Buffalo, you need a small set of Nock's on your bench, save you a few steps!😊
Probably the best value shotgun ever made. I have three 88s . Two in 12 gauge, one in 20. That was a good review my friend. 👍
The good ol deer slayer I have the m500 set up
I was waiting for the next video!!! Thanks buffalo!! Nice to see you!!!👍👏
I got a Maverick 88 slug gun a while back to test my slug loads with an affordable gun. I was very impressed with action and accuracy. The first loads I tested was my home made 2 3/4 steel core socket slugs propelled by Hodgdon Long Shot @ 40 yards. Grouped so well I’ll use it for hunting. Good honest review. Good video.
👍🐿👍minute of squirrel. After ya bust out the Loctite.
Great to see your content again. Thank you for the video
🤔 very nice, looking to get a maverick 88, might have to buy the combo package now😊
Glad to see you back Buffalo.
First and foremost glad to see you alive, well and still shooting very well! Welcome to the rifled 12g family in which Mossberg is the best so far. I've been doing 4' groups at 100 for years and although ammo is horribly expensive the results are amazing. Don't worry about vertical drop, the powder in the shell is not always that equal and precise, I've caught them on chronograph up to 130fps differences. I highly recommend Remington Accu tip, expensive but very, very accurate and doing a ton of damage on target. The triggers on all 500 family shotguns are very heavy but overall better quality then everything in the class and price range, I'm hunting for many years and never missed a thing. Upgrading the trigger is easy, 20 bucks, you change 2 springs and you cut the pull weight in half.
Several years ago I bought off gunbroker a Viking grade Mossberg 12 gauge 500 with a 24" rifled barrel with a cantilever scope mount and a shotgun scope. It came with a locking hard plastic case at a great price.
Hi Buffalo, good to see you again. Hope all is well. For the price range looks like a great buy!
I’d say that things ready for the Deer Woods. I’d like to see you do some 100 Yard Tests.
I have the smooth bore version of this gun . Loads of fun love the sights . Got it to use as a utility shotgun
Great to see you back on the range again, it’s been a while. Cool shotgun.
Great video Buffalo. Glad to see you're back. You look well rested. Best channel on youtube. Always super genuine. Tried and true shotgun. Maverick is underrated. A lot of people don't realize that it is essentially a Mossberg. I have had one for years. Always a good shooter.
Always look forward to your videos. Glad your back. Thanks for the review.
Good to see you again! Good shooting. I own 2 Maverick 88's & am very pleased with them.
Great to see you posting another video. I was starting to worry
Love your slug content. Throw an MCarbo trigger kit in that thing!
Thank you.
Great review. I appreciate the thoroughness.
Welcome back! Thanks for another informative video
Binoculars, thank you 🎯
Thank You Buffalo! Nice to see nice out of box performance. The site coming loose falls under gen gun fixing! 😀
Thanks Buffalo! I didn't even know Mossberg made a Maverick slug gun. That has a lot of potential applications at that price range. A truck gun for one. I don't like the Idea of leaving a $1,000 to $2,000 AR platform rifle in my vehicle but a inexpensive rifled slug gun is a real viable option. A smooth bore shotgun is fine for close range but that slug gun looks like a viable option for 50 to 75 yards, 2 1/2 inch groups at 50 yards, with iron sights, right out of the box is pretty darn good. Great shooting, btw, especially with a 7 to 8 pound trigger.

Well done as always. Good to see you Sir. No doubt, you can tighten up those groups with a different slug if it can be done. Thank you.
My slug gun collection is my go to war out in the country collection. There isn't anything breathing in my neck of the woods that would want a slug in the vitals (even if it has armor on it would not be enjoyable as the 2nd shot would find a different soft spot 😂.
Don’t blame you for staying in the shade. It’s been hot this week! Great video, now I need to find one!
When Buffalo says, “I’ll speed things up for ya”…he literally takes off running, you realize that, right? 🤠
Good to see you back on the range. We have missed you. I have a few Mossberg shot guns. Otherwise, I would buy an 88. That rifle barrel appeals to me, however. Thank you for sharing with us.
Great review, always grrat content buffalo. Maverick 88 is a steal at the price. I love my mossberg 590, but know a maverick 88 would do the trick as it has for many others past and present
Good job , you had an angel with you to shoot that good with a sight that came loose. It taught me something to check those screws Thankyou
love the wadcutter slugs
Bed time story ,,,,, thanks 😎. Love Maverick 88 , goodnight.
Thanks for another great video!!
that will get the job done!!

Buffalo. Always a good and interesting video. Nice groups, that would likely take care of anything you were shooting at. Love to watch the water jugs fly. Thanks for sharing and take care.
Thanks for another excellent video ! Your choice of subject is so practical and well thought out. For the money Maverick 88 gets the job done. A five MOA result with iron sights and under $300 makes the point.
Super stable flight. You should be thrilled!!!!! Perfect holes. I’d buy a case if that ammo if I was you and keep it.
You should have a pair of Binos To look at your target.
That’s amazing for right out of the box!
Great video brother! I should get me a maverick 20 gage 3" . I gave my 20 gauges to my grandsons. Now i miss having one around! Lol. Id even settle for an old Single shot Steven with the case Hardened reciever like the one i started out learning on. Good to see you again Mr. Buffalo...😊😊😊 God bless all the here.
Great review!
Welcome back.
Hey Buffalo, great shooting. Looking forward to the follow up video and you tweeting this shotgun in…thanks!
My local Walmart has one for $197…gonna go grab it at that price! 🤫
That is pretty good accuracy Buffalo. I have to check if there are any .410's with rifled bores. Probably bolt action vintage ones were made at one time. Thanks much for the video.

As for the trigger, MCARBO offers a trigger spring upgrade kit that brings the pull down significantly. I own a 88 security with a smooth 20" barrel 7+1. I hope I get the rifled barrel as an upgrade. Good video, thanks for sharing 😊
Great review and shooting brother, that shotgun looks very cool, set up like that. I like the Maveric 88 shotguns.
Nice looking shotgun, I've thought about buying a Maverick with an 181/2 in smooth bore barrel... They are priced under $200. Great video Buffalo, loved it and it's great to see you back on the range.

They are a solid reliable shotgun for sure. Love my Mav 88
You can use the foster slugs in that gun also. I get a little more range and accuracy out of them that way
Welcome back
Not sure which impresses more the shotgun which did great for the price range or those Brenneke slugs. Slugs look wicked & make a nice clean hole. Recoil didn't look bad offhand. Good demonstration Sir!! I like the 88. 💥👍🎯
Buffalo, As you said "Solid shotgun for the money". I like the fact that it is a useable shotgun for handling in the woods, bumps scrapes and scratches are no big deal, it is a working shotgun or "Truck gun" for real time fall weather. good video - Dave

If i didn't have a 870 i would probably buy one of these. I did take your advice awhile ago and got a rifled choke and improved cylinder as my used shotty came with a full choke. Hope you had a good summer !

I grew up on 870s and used them as an LEO. Good luck converting to Mossberg if you've shot that 870 much though. Not so much the controls differences (I shoot Ithaca and Benelli just fine) but the whole Mossberg experience feels odd after handling more refined guns.
I'm digging the buffalo beard!
