Yea it’s more expensive now because the surplus firearms aren’t out there like it used to be, but don’t play the ‘I wish I did back then’ game a few years into the future, because you’ll kick yourself in the ass too hard... If you go on GB you can usually find something for the right price.

Joey P Agreed. When I was very little my dad and I went to a gun show. There was a barrel full of AKs for around $3-400 each. With a large box of magazines next to it. He still cringes every time he thinks about passing on them. He finally bought an SKS not too long ago. Jokes that he was shot at by them enough times to respect them. Might as well try it from the other end for a change. Lol

Good video. One of the few that I've found where the Astra is fired as well. I've always been very found of the Broomhandle. I'm 50 years old and I've been a fan of the pistol since I was a kid back in the seventies. I'm especially a fan of the 'Bolo' configuration which I finally purchased one a couple years ago. Again a very good video.

Neither gun had been fired in about 70 years and we fired the 900 for the first time, just an awesome experience and a fun shooter. Too bad there aren't many options for ammo. I've seen that the 7.62 tokarev is the same as the 7.63 mauser except maybe for powder charge. Anyone able to shed some light on this?

I love my broomhandle, mine's a Model 1930 commercial C96 with a shoulder stock made in the 50's. It's just a shame that the barrel is pretty worn down at this point, so the thing isn't very accurate, but it's still in good working condition, so I still take it to the range just a few times a year.

Awesome. Those are so cool. I guess the ammo is expensive and hard to find. It seems that, in combat, that clip feeding thing could get you killed. As to the Star Wars thing, even as a kid in the 1970s, when Star Wars hit theaters, I noticed that Harrison Ford's gun was a Broomhandle Mauser and the similarities (especially in uniforms) of the Empire to the SS and Whermacht. A really cool thing. Can you do some more oldies, like 8mm French revolver, Colt .38 Auto (pre-dates .38 Super), those giant WW1 Mauser anti tank bolt action rifles, Bren Gun, Luger P 09 Artillery Model with snail drum mag, the Lancaster SMG (50 round mag Brit SMG of WW2), I could go on and on, I like oldie military weapons.

Being the fastest pistol cartridge until 1935 is incorrect. The TT-30 and TT-33 were chambered in simply a hotter version of this same caliber, the Tokarevs will even fire Mauser ammo just fine. Awesome video, thanks for sharing! I love how he always points the gun downrange before chambering a round. Smart man.

I know that it's been three years since you did this video. I just got my mitts on a C96 in 7,63mm. Haven't fired it yet. I've found ammunition. The stripper clips seem to be a problem. Any leads on them? Thanks for the great video.

Having shot a few of these old stocked pistols (not a broomhandle) I know they are not quite as capable as you'd want to believe from just looking at them but I would still like to see how far they could be pushed in the hands of some pretty good shooters like you and Chad.

There were S&W revolvers in the 1800s that had removable stocks if I recall correctly.

Try using a standard AR-15/M16 stripper for your broomhandle, works very well for me...unsolicited tip... you can also make your own brass from cut down .223/5.56 brass.

What do ya think of a video on a Spanish Mauser in .308? Or something on new cartridges; .224 Valkyrie, .277 wolverine, 6.5 creed more, etc. Or the new ruger mpr, or m&p 10 sport?

The Chinese called these Box Cannons. When I last visited China, I went into one of the museums commemorating the resistance effort against the Japanese and the Civil War itself and there were rows of Mauser C96 variants, Thompson M1928s with 50 round drums, Type 24(Similar to K98k) and Hanyang 88s (Gewehr 88 copies).

Hey Eric and Chad I got a Question ! I got my POF P416 lower and in another six months I will be able to get my upper all new from factory and this will be my first AR type of rifle. I live in California and really impressed with those Roblar custom guns you guys get where they do all the extra coating etc. Not sure if this a great question cause I am new to the gun world but would Roblar be able to Pimp my ride like they do those pistols you guys do ? POF is nice company and I know they coat there bolt carrier group ect. But with my new lower and new upper could they do some great magic with that rig? I have the thordson stalk cause I live in California but if they could pimp out a POF AR to make more durable or just continue to make more fine and plus , i am new so I not even sure what I would ask them but tell them to do the works etc. Thank you and love your channel for bout 5 years now . Ps Yes I need to get on that phone and make those important calls to congress and state reps
