Where’s Oprah and the Rock? They need us to give them money so that they can… oh, they weren’t actually helping people other than themselves 😮

Unreal! Talk about ungrateful. So by your philosophy, I didn’t donate enough either. I also asked for matching donations from friends. Listen TROLL, Oprah & The Rock donated big money they didn’t have to donate. They also brought more awareness. Why aren’t you b#@ching about ALL the other celebrities and/or multi-home owners who come here to rape everything Hawaiian and have not given or not given enough? How much did you donate? You are not from Hawaiʻi, you are hewa, you are not pono, so go away haole. We donʻt need you stirring up sh#t. GO AWAY TROLL.

Obviously you didn’t comprehend. Debris removal agencies are working 7 days a week. They implemented the first ever cultural advisory committee. They are currently building a temporary school to open early 2024. Plans are moving forward to build housing and legal review is happening to convert BnBs to permanent rentals. Can more be done? YES. UNFORTUNATELY these things take time. Who screwed us is the complacency of large corporate land owners with unkept properties, with HECO not being incentivized to promote better wild fire prevention, with planning 100 years ago that was never modernized to bring more egress and ingress to the town. This was a perfect storm with the failings of history, corporations, politics and ultimately MONEY. SO MUCH emphasis is put on tourist who generate revenue that little thought is given to prevention of catastrophes. We the people force politicians to cater to where the money is to secure reelection and that not only waste time and energy but breeds corruption. Stop the troll comments. The government isn’t the sole provider or rescuer and preventative planning involves big agencies and our own individual decisions as well. United we accomplish. I stand with Lāhaina. E ola mau!

Please restore power and allow residents to come back home in the restricted area that is still “red”. Ask help to japanese and koreans: u are not able to do everything by yourselves but people need to have back their life. The air is ok, thank G-d we have wind: we need just to remove the debris and with the help of our partners will be more easy. Mahalo

STOP. YOU CAN NOT HELP . ITS STILL CONTAMINATED. ITS IN THE WIND AND AIR. THOSE PEOPLE ARE TRAINED TO REMOVE HAZARDOUS WASTE. WEARING FULL PPE. THE TOP SOIL, THE GROUND HAS LAYERS OF SOAKED IN CONTAMINATION. NO ONE WANTS THE TONS OF DEBRIS. MAUI OFFICIALS HAVE TO FIND SOMEONE TO TAKE IT OR ELSE CAN NOT MOVE FAST. FORWARD YOUR OLD LIFE AT THAT HOUSE IS NO LONGER. YOU HAVE TO START BUILDING A NEW LIFE AND MOVE FORWARD. ITS GOING TO TAKE A YEAR TO CLEAN THE LAND. A YEAR TO REBUILD.

They are working 7 days a week, sprayed the ground stabilizer, pushing for BnBs to convert to permanent housing, building a temporary school, have a resource center, plans in the works for long term recovery. You’re complaining, so what is your expectation? FEMA was only created in 1979 by Pres Carter to help in catastrophes. Up until then folks were on their own. What did you do as an individual to be ready for a life crisis happening to you? Don’t expect them to do 100% for you. That isn’t possible and there are more catastrophes happening or going to happen that will need the help of FEMA. The horror of the Lāhaina wildfires was a culmination of government, corporations, individuals, politicians, history and Mother Nature. I hope we learn from this tragedy. I stand with Lāhaina.
