Everyone in Houston knows who Mattress Mack is. Yes, he's a phenomenally successful and self-made businessman who is heavily into self promotion for his business, but he's also the greatest philanthropist a city could ever hope to have among its residents. Whenever any need arises he steps up to the plate and gives gives gives, be it cold hard cash or services his store can provide. His generosity knows no bounds and he has truly done more good for the city over these past few decades than any politician ever could.

I remember this guy when I was living in Houston in the early 1990s. His commercials were always so annoying. But you for sure remembered them.

Mattress Mack is a showman -- the Bill Veeck of horse racing -- who has done so much for the sport that it can't be quantified in dollars and cents.

@@alfandeddie Amazing how many jealous and envious losers care about the furniture business. Have you ever invested a dime of your money in any business? Hell no, likely a govt. worker slug or 9-5 minimum wage slug begging for $15 per hour and weekends off. #LOSERINLIFE
