The English always maintain its a one way street in terms of rivalry, but having a standard level of knowledge where history is concerned shows that to be hilariously false. English and Welsh rivalry was ancient before Scotland was a twinkle in someones eye. The rivalry goes back almost 2000 Years. And lets be honest, you don't go through all the things the English did in regards to Wales if you weren't just little bit obsessed with something about the place.

You’re right. I think we (the English) are very aware that we came to Britain as Anglo-Saxon invaders and that the Welsh (Britons) are an ancient people who we pushed out of what is now England and into the mountainous west of Britain (Wales). We’ve been at it for 1600 years and it ain’t going to stop anytime soon.

Need to watch! Death and Nightingales was one of the novels we had to study for the Irish Leaving Cert(final examinations for high school in the Republic of Ireland 🇮🇪). Great book. Dark, but 👍

1600 years. It began around 410 when they were invited by vortigern to act as Coast guards against the Vandals and Visigoths if they turned their attention to Britain after the fall of Rome. The main reason is supposedly because most of the fighting men of Britain were in fact in the other world. Annwn...What would later become known as North America.

Not all Welsh men have the same accent, as with any country there are regional differences. Matthew is from Cardiff and Sir Anthony was born in Margam, Port Talbot which is about 30 miles away.

@@sahej6939 ha on average, accents change every 14 miles in Britain which is the average distance between towns. Newport and Cardiff have very different accents but are only 11 miles apart.

Its not a rivalry its a collective memory of how the arrogant and barbaric English class system has suppressed all Celts for centuries. My issue with the English is they think they are superior to me, since they have an inbred royal family, they think they have a blood line! Well in the 21st century, Lords, counts and kings should remain in the middle ages and the history books! Everyone is born equal and should have equal chance. But in the UK if you have a Posh accent you can get jobs and position a person with a regional accent can't. I have no issue with working class English, its the English class system I despise! Also I anyone who supports this system of hate! Lets hope for devolution for Wales, Scotland should have it soon and then we should join them. Leave the english with their Soverinity and their kings and queens, while everyone else lives in the 21 century.

There is no English-Welsh Rivalry in England, the issue is with the Welsh and to the English they are irrevant, it is a bit like the San Marino football team thinking they are rivals of Brazil's football team.

Can't be that irrelevant, seeing how you spend so much time and effort into turning Wales into a industrialised colony which stole billions in resources. Oh, and let's not forget about the treachery of the Blue Books. Also, What about when the English football team beat Wales in 2016 group stage. The English fans acted like they won the world Cup that day. So let's not be so disingenuous by implying its a one way street. Wales - 40 Six nations titles England - 39 Six nations titles... and thats with Wales being a fraction of the size with a fraction of the resources.

The gorgeous face of Matthew Rhys is totally obscured by that awful mountain man look. I guess he doesn't care what he looks like. It is one thing to have a pandemic "at home" look, but if a celebrity is going to be publicly seen again, isn't it common courtesy to try and look good for the fans?
