Matter Aera Electric Motorcycle: When Can Customers Expect Their Bikes? ‪@MatterIndia‬ ‪@ElectroWorldev‬
Electric two-wheeler startup Matter has announced a delay in the delivery of its inaugural product, the Aera electric motorcycle, now rescheduled for 2024. Initially planned for a September release, customer deliveries for the Matter Aera will now commence between January and March of the following year. While the company hasn't provided specific reasons for the delivery delay, they have stated their commitment to delivering more than 40,000 pre-booked Aera units within 2024.
Matter's manufacturing facility in Gujarat is presently configured to produce 60,000 units annually, with future plans to double production to 120,000 units to meet growing demand.
The Aera was originally introduced with an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.44 lakh for the 5000 variant and Rs 1.54 lakh for the 5000 Plus variant, factoring in a substantial Rs 60,000 incentive at the time, attributed to its sizable 5 kWh battery pack. However, recent revisions to the government's FAME-II subsidy structure for electric two-wheelers forced Matter, which had not yet sold any motorcycles, to implement a price increase. As a result, the Aera now bears price tags of Rs 1.74 lakh (5000) and Rs 1.84 lakh (5000 Plus, ex-showroom). It's important to note that Matter has reassured its pre-booked customers that they will receive the bike at the originally offered launch prices.
