I am close to 60 years old and I have seen greats like Fluffy, Richard Pryor, Sam Kinnison, George Carlin, Steve Harvey, Carrot Top, Wanda Sykes , Eddie Murphy and so many others in tv shows, Netlfix etc.. Matt Rife is in my top 3. Very relatable, respects his audience, has a great time and spends time with the audience afterward for pictures or whatever. She told me about him so this is my second attempt at listening to another one of his specials to see if he can even makes me chuckle. I've been laying in this hospital bed for a week depressed because I missed Thanksgiving being here. Was skimming through KZread past all the tRUMP going to prison stories, and I landed on this young man here. All I can say is THANK YOU!!! Thank you for making a brotha laugh. When you're feeling down and out like I have been for the past week it feels good to laugh and not worry about the pain for a little while. I have Sickle Cell Anemia and there is no pain in the world like it. Just know that your comedy made that pain go away even if it's only for a little bit. So, again THANK YOU. A little laughter goes a long way when the pain is that bad. Keep up the great work!

Interestingly, I only heard about him because all of these women were complaining and trying to get him canceled because of a domestic violence joke. I had to see what had these chicks all riled up this time..... And I was soooo disappointed. I genuinely did not understand why they were butt hurt over a dv joke. I'm a survivor of dv and I found the joke funny. If they were previous fans of his, like they claimed, then they should have been outraged about him continually calling women 'bitch' during one of his previous shows. I probably wouldn't have said anything about it myself, but I could have understood them being upset about that. Not 'canceled' upset, more 'let's think of another name,' level of agitation. So somehow it's OK for him to say, "Bitch, you are so nasty," or "Bitch, sit down. I'm not trying to get #metoo'd." Or whatever else he was saying. He even pushed a woman by putting his foot on her ass! Nobody said anything, everybody laughed. So, ALL OF THAT was cool; Addressing women as 'Bitch' is alright, but he crossed a line with the dv joke😅. Whatever. They look like brittle, attention seeking, narcissistic idiot bitches. He's right.

The ONLY thing that bothered me was how TENSE the audience was I'm over here crying 🤣🤣🤣

You don't need to walk on eggshells to avoid joking about sexual abuse. You just need to be a decent person. A decent human wouldn't try to manipulate someone into sleeping with them. It's nice when comedians are self aware of jokes that are easily offensive, it was tastefully done and I actually laughed at the gun violence jokes. That's really hard to pull off, I've seen other comedians die on their own cross from really bad jokes. It's important to be able to laugh through pain sometimes. There are crowd mics at these types of shows & concerts - doesn't capture full breadth of audience noise. Look at a roaring joke and compare the rest for intensity

You can tell he's been working on his craft because his jokes aren't just for your common adult who likes comedy. You can tell he's maneuvered a way to make it so younger gen will laugh at what he's saying too. And everyone knows younger gen prefer comedic videos instead of a person telling jokes most the time. But this set was well crafted. You a bit of a hater but its your opinion. I still wish him nothing but success because I was genuinely having a great time & laugh watching this. I remember waking up at like 5am to get ready for a 7am shift and i watched this whole set before work and it kicked off the day great lmao.

I’m a 50 yr old blk grandma, a fan of comedy, from Johnny Carson, and Dangerfield, to both Eddies, Burr, Chappelle etc. it’s hard to do comedy about blk ppl to blk ppl with humor and gravitas. You managed it kid. Stellar jokes. Solid transitions. A little lag with the water but nervousness happens. I thought I would watch 20 minutes but I laughed out loud, alone. Keep it original, stay yourself and be flexible. I see an incredibly bright path ahead for you

I had no idea...a few months ago. Really glad that I accidentally discovered Matt's comedy. Very funny. Never stop what you're doing. One of the best in the business right now.

My reaction after watching this: this man is amazing let me support him by going to his show. Sees that they’re all sold out: I’m not even mad, I’m just happy you’re out there killin it. All those production companies out there that wouldn’t take a chance on you ought to feel real bad right now. I’m so glad you made this happen!

He's very smart. Both this and his 2nd one were done by him to put on here for free. I noticed he's sold out on most of the dates also. Really great comedian & wonderful person. I loved both of his specials. I think it was great marketing. He puts specials on here for free. Everyone loves him and wants more. Now his shows are sold out.

What I love most is his sincerity.
