What about the King and the Sting? That was a good duo as well, until Theo sunk his dagger into Brendan Schaub's back and ran off with all the viewers. Don't think Brendan has forgotten about this betrayal. He hasn't. He's biding his time. Watching. Waiting. Itching for the moment, when Theo will get his just deserts. When he will reap what he hath sewn. When the past finally catches up with him. And then Brendan will get the last laugh.

The raw emotion, storytelling, and soulful melodies of the blues have left an indelible mark on American music. * Elvis Presley and Rock ‘n’ Roll: Elvis, born in Tupelo, Mississippi, revolutionized music by blending blues, country, and gospel into rock and roll. His impact on popular music is immeasurable. * Jimmy Rogers and Country Music: Jimmy Rogers, a country music pioneer, hailed from Mississippi. While Mississippi is a state with a rich history and cultural heritage, it has faced challenges that have contributed to certain negative perceptions. Here are some of the issues that have influenced these views: - **Education and Health Rankings**: Mississippi often ranks low in national surveys on education and health, which can contribute to stereotypes about the state¹. - **Poverty and Racism**: Issues like poverty and racism are deeply rooted in Mississippi's history and continue to affect the state today. These issues are interconnected with other societal challenges such as education, health, and criminal justice¹. - **Stereotypes Based on Accent**: The Southern drawl, commonly heard in Mississippi, is sometimes unfairly associated with being uneducated. This accent-based bias can have profound consequences on personal and professional opportunities². Efforts are being made to address these issues and change perceptions through initiatives like the blog Rethink Mississippi, which aims to foster conversation and develop solutions for the state's problems¹. It's important to recognize that while these negative thoughts exist, they do not define the entire state or its people, who are also known for their hospitality, resilience, and contributions to American culture.

@@ThatGuy678 and then there’s the diversity in culture… Mississippi is a state with a rich tapestry of cultural diversity, reflecting a history of convergence among various ethnic and racial groups. Here’s a glimpse into the cultural mosaic that makes up Mississippi: Ethnic and Racial Composition: The population of Mississippi is diverse, with 57.36% White, 37.53% Black or African American, and smaller percentages of Asian, American Indian and Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian and other Pacific Islander, and multiracial individuals1. Cultural Institutions: The state is home to organizations like the Mississippi Center For Cultural Production, which supports social, economic, and cultural transformation through arts, culture, and agriculture2. Additionally, institutions like Mississippi State University play a significant role in fostering cultural diversity through programs and initiatives3. Historical Influence: The Mississippi Delta region is particularly noteworthy for its cultural significance. It has been a melting pot of American Indians, French, Spanish, African, German, English, Irish, Scots-Irish, Jewish, Italian, Chinese, Mexican, and Southeast Asian cultures. This intermingling has created unique cultural elements found only in the Delta4. Economic Impact: Cultural diversity in Mississippi also has an economic dimension, with millions of travelers visiting the Delta each year, contributing over $17 billion in direct revenue to the region4. Cultural Celebrations: Mississippi celebrates its diversity through various events and festivals that showcase the state’s rich heritage and traditions. In essence, Mississippi’s cultural diversity is a reflection of its complex history and the myriad of cultures that have contributed to the state’s identity. It’s a place where traditions are cherished, and new cultural expressions continue to evolve.

@@dadistos4538I think it’s definitely location based and local culture. In my town we have 16 public pools and a huge part of highschool/young adult culture is lifeguarding in the summer. Always more applicants than roles and I don’t see it going down any time soon. Plus boat dock attendants, paddle board instructors, and plenty of other things.

@@jonahs4819 yeah I live in Michigan man 😅 there’s plenty of need for them here. Though to add to your point, I have some buddies in a small town in Saskatchewan and their local indoor pool is the same way
Oh man the two saddest days in highschool were taking my best friend for 4 years to the airport to leave and go back to South Korea and the last day of summer before going off to college, laying in bed with my girlfriend staying as long as possible one last time for a while. I showed my Korean friend the ropes from day one, helped him in class, got him into sports, and stayed at his apartment damn near all of senior year. That was tough knowing I wouldn't see him for a few years. And nothing like going separate ways from your first love, knowing the relationship might not be the same, may not last, won't see each other every single day and night anymore for a while. I remember both of those days like yesterday after watching this podcast, those days were full of emotion and tough learning experiences.
