The female journalist facing him looks like one of Jack's victims. And I love what Dillon said: "This character is not who I am". He really felt the need to clear that point out. Haha!

This man deserves an oscar nom at least for this character. Say what you want about the content of the film, his performance was brilliant. He really became a different person, and embraced a truly dark corner of his soul to play Jack. Of course, he won't get any recognition because of how controversial it is, but he deserves it.

Also if anyone wants to know about the duckling scene - The child actor was instructed to hold a pair of prop legs against the backside of the duck. You can see the duck is actually facing away from the camera but has been called to turn it's head, giving the illusion that it is facing the other direction and that the fake legs pinched between the boys fingers are oriented correctly. Absolutely genius SFX work.

@@KD--sj8eo considering that the movie plays around heavily with the concept of how misogyny directly affects the victims, not only that Jack remembers most, but the ones he thinks are easier and dumber, I definitely agree(specially since it came from the director himself). The movie is not really about murder as much as it’s about WHO is able to perpetuate these killings and get away with it because of their place in society.

A few weeks ago, I did watched the film, and it was like an ode to Von Trier's filmography. Moreover, I never thought that Matt was going to play a character like that, because I was used to see him to star in Comedy films. @@emmanuelchang7911 No it's not showing here, the UK blu-ray will be the fully un-cut version. I've enjoyed all of Lars Von Triers Movies, except for Nymphomaniac, hated that film.

One of the most underrated actors of the generation imo. He always does an incredible job and almost never gets any recognition just because he was shoe-horned into romcoms for a decade.

Dennis Reynolds He was amazing in Crash for which he got Nominated for An Oscar for but I do think... this performance as Jack is his best performance! Sadly... he will not get Nominated.

people outraged/upset over a movie but carefree/indifferent about kids being bombed in real life. Never heard an actor make a more valid point in an interview.
The female journalist facing him looks like one of Jack's victims. And I love what Dillon said: "This character is not who I am". He really felt the need to clear that point out. Haha!

This man deserves an oscar nom at least for this character. Say what you want about the content of the film, his performance was brilliant. He really became a different person, and embraced a truly dark corner of his soul to play Jack. Of course, he won't get any recognition because of how controversial it is, but he deserves it.

I love how the interviewer try to push him to make some polemical comment and he keeps calm and answer something inteligent.

She 1000% wanted a headline where Matt Dillon talks negatively on the film.
Also if anyone wants to know about the duckling scene - The child actor was instructed to hold a pair of prop legs against the backside of the duck. You can see the duck is actually facing away from the camera but has been called to turn it's head, giving the illusion that it is facing the other direction and that the fake legs pinched between the boys fingers are oriented correctly. Absolutely genius SFX work.

One of the best sadistic mystery/horror movies ever made, masterpiece. Don't recommend to everybody, just people who like over the top dark, absurdity and shocking themes. Matt Dillon was fantastic.

@@KD--sj8eo considering that the movie plays around heavily with the concept of how misogyny directly affects the victims, not only that Jack remembers most, but the ones he thinks are easier and dumber, I definitely agree(specially since it came from the director himself). The movie is not really about murder as much as it’s about WHO is able to perpetuate these killings and get away with it because of their place in society.

I swooned when he asked”You don’t think I’m a heartthrob anymore”. Yes Matt, you’re still a heartthrob.
Instead of asking Matt about the actual movie, the journalist keeps asking if Matt is woke enough. You can see that Matt's bullshit detector goes off every other question as he keeps directing the conversation back to the film in an elegant manner.
He really seems like an amazing person. Just a solid guy

I know a few people who have met him. Apparently, he's very humble and down-to-earth and couldn't care less about the artifice of celebrity. Just a cool and solid guy.
He's so spot on. Everyone gets so offended by a work of art but if another school shooting or bombing happens, They don't bat an eye. So people should redirect their focus elsewhere and address real problems rather than a work of fiction.
damn I haven’t seen him since I watched The Outsiders. Aged very well, incredibly handsome and articulate. Wow.
I love how the interviewer so strongly hopes that the film has a connection to politics and Matt just totally disregards her so subtly. XD

That was very satisfying to watch
He’s definitely one of my top favorite actors ever. This movie solidifies that for me. I always thought he was good. But now he’s among one of the GOATS of acting. Pure perfection throughout this whole movie.
Matt Dillon literally ate this role. He was incredible and also Oscar worthy. It’s just that Lars’ movies don’t get considered for oscars

If you close your eyes and imagine Thanos, he sounds like he could have embraced that role so easily if Josh Brolin didn't exist. Not saying I don't love Josh Brolin's performance, just that this guy would have done a fine job with it, too.

Zac Peruski I watched it. I’m afraid I wasn’t a fan and the only part that got a visceral reaction out of me was the duckling. Everything else was pretty meh.

Fantastic interview. Matt Dillon is one of the best actors out there right now. Always a pleasure to watch his performances. I don't think I saw Crash though, that's going on my list. Great point made about the outrage expressed towards this movie and director. I'm Looking forward to seeing this when it comes out.

This is an excellent movie, and Matt absolutely nailed the part. The fact that I probably won't be able to watch it again is a testament to what a fantastic performance he gave.
So much respect for him. The house that Jack built is defiently his best film. I wish he had a whole lot of other films. He's an amazing actor

This interview was very good. I have not seen many movies with Matt Dillon, but I really love the house that jack built. Jack is a character, that truly amazed me, and Matt was the perfect choice. I thought about the movie and the performances of the actors for 2 weeks. It was a movie, that truly Got me thinking. And I thank the whole crew for bringing this piece of art to life
Well, now that I know about the duckling, I'm going to have to hide my eyes for that whole scene.

Just saw the film. Very disturbing and brilliant at the same time. I will be thinking about it for weeks. Matt Dillon is definitely an underrated actor. I loved him in the film but this interview made me like him even more. Seems like a really genuine and smart man.

A few weeks ago, I did watched the film, and it was like an ode to Von Trier's filmography. Moreover, I never thought that Matt was going to play a character like that, because I was used to see him to star in Comedy films. Nevertheless, he amazed me as much as the whole cast, so thank you Lars for casting him for the starring role.
