What is very interesting is that since jack is the one who tells what happened you don't know whats real. Like the lady in the car at the start might have told him nothing at all and he just imagined being called a serial killer because, well he is

it disturbs me seeing so many people in this comment section saying they/specifically the first women deserved to die, especially when many of them have channel names that suggest they’re men. sure some made poor decisions and if it wasn’t actually a case of unreliable narrator that first woman did deserve some form of punishment but we’re literally talking about _death_ here. something that gives no second chances. it’s permanent. i don’t think people really think about it when they say she deserved to die but in a way that just reveals some problems with society

it might be resource intensive, but i still feel like police officers and people in public service should hope for the best, prepare for the worst when someone is saying something that outlandish (because it is a highly doubtful claim to the average member of society) but that doesn’t mean they should write it off entirely like that officer did. resource intensive bc if every claim were taken seriously, it could take hours of time or whatever to resolve them but it should still be worth it in the case the victim is actually being pursued by a killer or sth god this is a long comment

“Verge” is a reference to Virgil, the ancient Roman poet who wrote the Aenied. Virgil is also the character that escorts Dante through parts of hell in Dante’s Divine Comedy and represents human reason. I assume that “Verge” and the whole plot is the main character’s psycho “artist” brain and rational brain having a conversation as he’s about to finally be caught and realizing he’s going to hell.

It's one of the most fucked up movies ever, and the thing is that it doesn't seem as forcefully edgy as A Serbian Film or something similar, Jack really feels like a realistic psychopathic serial killer (with a dose of dark humor added). It's like the director is a genuine psycho himself. But as weird and disturbing as it is, I found it very interesting, imo it had the right combination of substance and Von Trier's "artsy" style.

Definitely two different types of “edgy” movies. A Serbian Film was just all wrong, this one was just the typical serial killer movie, but then they jump ship and mess the entire thing up at the end with the magically he builds a house and a hole is inside of it in the floor all while it takes the cops to pull up and come in. Those cops must have Storm Trooper reflexes or something if they taking so long that he could string bodies up into a shape of a mini house and a hole can get cut into the metal floor.

Agreed, Jack's efforts weren't in vain as he did end up making a house both he looked satisfied with, and Verge himself though was quite fine, but no sin ever goes unpunished. Jack still had to murder several women which is sickening, and to add fuel to the flame, he took the lives of two children, but it doesn't end there, he piled up the corpses as if their lives weren't any greater than his and proceeded to deem it as "art". Nonetheless, he is a sociopathic killer after all, but even his arrogance and selfishness isn't a reason to not blame him for his deeds, as the only person who is at fault for his issues is himself. Oh wait he wouldn't care anyways, he's a sociopath hah.

No, he is telling his story to Virgil on his way to hell. There are moments when Virgil even tells that is dificult to breath because the acid and it happens during his narration. The narration starts when he is killed by the police, what we see are his memories while he tells the story (he even asks if he must remain silent or they can speak Virgil tells him they can speak so Jack begins explaining him the story of how he became what he is). The moment he opens that door the one for some reason he never could open before (probably because it never existed) and enters the room where Virgil awaits him he is already dead shot by the police. He never arrived to build his house, something he is really obsessed with, so for them to be able to leave he must not have this unfinished business therfore Virgil suggests him to build the house using the materials around him (the corpses) again it's something happening in the afterlife he never arrived to do that. We don't see the police actually shooting him or him dying because he probaly was killed on spot and doesn't remember that part yet he understand he is dead, and where he is guided by Virgil who he nicknames as ''Verge''. Why he is so tranquil, doesn't question a man inside the no existent room and seems to go along with that? Because he built that corpse house, his opus magnum therfore his soul must and can leave, to hell in his case. Virgil must have had guided a lot of sick people he knows the drill.

Its a drug for them. You know how it feels when u look into the smoke bag and ur all out weed AND u already scraped the bowl 3 times? Yea serial killers in a position like that get wildly sloppy. I used to watch horror movies alot when i was in 12 th grade and i used to watch alone since other friends are too scared to watch all these movies. But after watching too much it made me depressed so much. And there was a feeling of some kind, like some creepy shit. I don't even know how to describe. I don't want those feelings take over me now so i don't watch too much horror movies now , Rarely sometimes lol. So now i prefer these videos haha. So if you are pu*sy you better stick to these videos, seriously it affects your brain. Anyways sorry for my terrible English, Have a nice day/night Peace ✌️

So, this is not the behavior of a sociopath...it is the behavior of a psychopath however, and this seems to be an excessively commonplace mistake people make, along with the assumption they are effectively interchangeable. At least he calls him a psychopath during the video.

I never checked this movie out. The title is so unassuming, and doesn’t give away anything about what the movie is about, unless you take it super literally, and even then I don’t think I’d have thought this plot up, just by the title alone. Now I feel kinda silly for not at least reading a wiki article or something. This movie sounds insane, and definitely something I’d like to see at least once, as a horror movie fan.

I'm reminded truly of Oscar Wilde's comment about there being no morality in a work of art as he introduced Picture of Dorian Grey, and yet that in fact was the very core. This takes it to a whole new level! I don't think I could watch this, already too disturbed- but yes it's a beautiful, contemplative piece. Also interesting that one of the two protagonists of Wings of Desire was chosen for this. Lars Von Trier is brilliant, and this was a very wise artistic choice

The symbolism towards the end of Jack visiting hell ruins it for me. I hate it when a movie goes from fairly realistic to fantastical especially just for the sake of pretension.
