This shifter makes the car feel much nicer to drive. Only complaint is it is kind of stiff. And almost needs to wear in a little. But the shifts are nice and firm, and I can tell what gear I am in!

Interesting the MWR short shifter kit looks nearly identical to my TWM kit I installed 15 years ago on my 03 Vibe GT. I also did the brass bushings at the same time as well.

Who knows maybe MWR bought out TMW and uses their designs! But I can definitely say it’s a great feeling shifter now!

The XR Matrix trimmed cars have a MWR shorty too.

I was watching regular car reviews and he was saying that this cars shifter was sloppy, wonder if you could just change the linkages all together.

This seemed to clean up about 90% of the slop. But I haven’t seen any after market linkages to fix that.

Can I bolt in to an matrix with an auto trans? I’m doing a motor and 6 speed swap and I want to use this short throw rather than the oem one.

That is a good question. I would imagine the automatic and manuals have the same center console with the same mounting brackets. But the best way would be to take apart the dash and see if it has the same mounting holes.

I believe they make a kit for that generation corolla.

Doing mine right now. You didn't follow the instructions and put the neutral return spring on the new shifter. Goes from bottom to top

I must have missed it. But it has been shifting fine. I will have to look and make sure to fix it soon!

I busted one of the shift cable locks how can i assemble the spring back in place?

That happened to me on another car, as long as nothing broke, you can put it back together. But it is a PITA to get it back on.

@@castillomartin25 make sure you didn’t lose the spring. And what’s going to have to happen is that spring fell out of the slot it’s supposed to sit in. So you are going to have to wind the spring up 1 rotation to get its tension back and put it into the slot again. It’s not the easiest to do. And possibly have another set of hands would help as well.
