Both of these a amazing bows. I shoot a DXT and love it. I like both of these and have shot both. I have no complaints with either. Just close your eyes and pick one you can not go wrong with either. Thanks for the video guys

@dryflyelk what matters is that it shoots faster than both of these bows.

After a bunch of shots, both bows actually shot about the same speed, right around 285-288. 400 grain arrow, 65 lb draw weight. Both are awesome.

both my hoyt buddys shot my new z7 yesterday and are both buying one. We have shot hoyt for years and shot many many deer,fallow,pigs,chipmunks,cats and so on with them. Its what feels best for you as a shooter/hunter they are both great makes

the alphamax was advertised with a 321fps IBO and most of the bows sold were shooting up to 4 fps faster than what they were rated from the factory

@studogg99 Im 33 years of age and have (2) Z7 Extreme Tacticals decked out with QAD rest, Trijicon Accupins, Mathews carbon fiber quiver and stabilizers and one is themed yellow and the other white. They shoot 288fps at 65lb 27" draw. So its not a over 40 thing. And i switched from Hoyt, Mathews bows are by far smoother and quiter than my Hoyts were. The only Hoyt id even consider purchasing would be the Carbon Element and im actually thinking of getting one.

Also keep in mind the Mathews IBO is 332 and the Hoyt IBO is 323. They are much closer in real life numbers.

Good video. Nice to see a fair test. But I prefer the Hoyt over the Mathews.

part 2: Both bows are so close in noise and smoothness of draw it's almost a toss up for those categories. The Mathews does have a better wall IMO, doesn't want to take off on you like the hoyt. The mathews also holds better for me personally, a slower sight window for sure. The Hoyt just seems to want to wander a bit more on target and my groups were not quite as tight. So thats my take on the two bows from an unbiased point of view.

THANK YOU STIHLPONY. I own a Reezen and have shot the Hoyt. And both are amazing bows. All this shit about hand shock and weight. Are we sissies? You get 1 shot and at that moment I promise you I've never said "ouch. that hand shock hurt" Or thought to myself "I can't take this shot because my arms are so tired because this bow weighs 2 ounces more than the other" Shoot what you like. End of story.

@dryflyelk No not even close shoot that maxxis alot you will have to get it tuned back in again and again i go to the hoyte dealer here alot and people are always bring there bow in to have the cams tuned back in FACT!!

Bowtech destroyer 350 shoots like 350-70 fps

i had the old Reezen 6.5 and the Z7 has got to be alot better in all ways

the truth is you cant go wrong with either of these bows, its all in whatever the shooter is more comfortable with. I personally shoot a hoyt trykon so when i shot these bows i was leaning towards the hoyt but bottom line is cant go wrong with either

The Mathews is a bit heavier, no doubt about it. Speedwise, the ones I shot the the Z7 was just a tad faster, at 29" and 70lbs. As for the quality, I think Mathews has more appeal visually. Nicer machining, crisper camo dip, nicer roller guard, and a FAR nicer grip. I have been a hoyt fan and owner for a long time, but getting rid of the nice wood grips for the shoddy 180 grip is a mistake. Also, I'm really tired of the sandblasted risor look. Bowtech and Mathews both have a nicer looking finish

@GLOCKCOPG23 what im saying is if you already had a DXT why go spend another 1200$ on a new bow(z7) ill be honest i want one but see the point in spending that money on a new one when i can use it for other hunting equipment and the dxt is actually a hair lighter but i've never shot th z7 so i cant say anything bout if it jumps or nething either way to each is there own...good luck this year

I have a Z7 and let me just say that there is not a smoother draw on the face of the earth if you haven't gotten to draw one back you have to get to the shop and try it is an amazing bow CATCH US IF YOU CAN

@GLOCKCOPG23 LMAO haha yea totally thought of that before checking this message thats funny, we went and i shot the new z7 extreme and i have to say that bow is amazing not to different than the regular z7 but the extreme is a bit smoother and they are both different than the dxt i think by a long shot to....my wife loves the passion so it looks like ill be buying to bows lol

I have shot all the new Hoyts and Mathews and i have to say that Mathews is better with the Z7 but Hoyt has a pretty wicked bow out now with the Carbon Matrix but still Mathews is #1 in Archery ; )

@dryflyelk its not lighter its light its a little bit faster but not that much, quality is much better from the mathews. only the hoyt carbon matrix quality is better. catch us if you can

@GLOCKCOPG23 yea im going to shoot a z7 this weekend and i like will be getting it and giving my DXT to my wife after getting a cam and limbs for it so she can actually pull it back...chances are pretty high that ill love it of couse here in about 3weeks our dealer here will have the 2011 bows in so i may wait

Ibo is rated at heaviest poundage , longest draw and lightest arrow the bow can handle. Real life hunting set ups will always be less.

you can tell they were not set on same poundage the z7 pulled hard and the hoyt pulled super easy

i have to say that the z7 has got to be the better bow because i goes beond parrell limbs not even drawn and it is so much smoother and a better quality

@dryflyelk dude ive never had any other bow come close to a mathews my DXT set 29/70 shooting maxima 350's with 100grain field point im hitting 298fps have yet to have any other brand get with in 10 of course i havent shot a PSE

why's everyone making such a big deal about these guys chrono-ing these bows? their not making a comparison on which is better. you guys still gotta think about the different specs on each bow. the z7 has a shorter brace height so of course it's going to be a slightly faster bow. plus the z7 has a few speed knocks on the string. put a few on the hoyt and you'll probably get similar speeds.

Everyone talking about speed shut up.My whitetail hunter i still gets it done when it comes to bucks boar and by no stretch of the imagination a speed demon.Just shoot what you like i own a bear attack i love it but still get the old whitetail hunter out every season just to see what she can do and deer still fall to it.

Wrong. Lighter? Not hardly. Actually much heavier. Weigh them - Z7 is about 6 ounces heavier than stated. Faster? Not really. About the same. Shoot both through a chrono at equal draw lengths. Better quality? Nah. Both are top notch. Both are great bows. Shoot whichever floats your boat.

@andygut27 settle down wld ya? i actually agree with your opinion. I think mathews is more advirtisement than product. I've been shooting hoyt for years and i wldnt shoot anything else. Not because they tell the truth about thier ibo speed or any of that but because they are the toughest bow out there bar none. And who gives a f*ck about speed? u can shoot 500fps but if u cant hit where your aiming it don't mean shit. Accuracy kills not speed. another reason i shoot the bows i do!

he's not drawing that bow properly, you'r supposed to use your back muscles and he's using his ars, he could injusre himself drawing a bow that way, and will tire much faster.
