this is really interesting, as usual, its a great channel from which i am learning a lot. It would have been helpful to compare how it would have looked if you had simply reset the white balance in camera alone. ie how much extra benefit is afforded by compensating for the mixed lighting by adding the gel on your keylight (....as i am a really lazy person).

A color balance adjustment in camera is fine when there’s only one color the camera needs to account for. But if there are two or more colors in light then any adjustment in camera will still leave mismatched colors on set.

You have your favorites that you subscribe too, and some review styles are great presentation, but if I want great information I always end up back here. Rubidium explains things so well.

I'm glad to see you using the white card. I see lots of people color balancing with the gray side, is their a reason for doing this? I only think of gray side for exposure.

I prefer using grey cards for white balancing. It's just a preference to which is easier for you to see.

How do you know how much tint to add in camera? I cant find anything on this. If the meter is saying half plus green, how do i know what to change the tint to in camera?

Point it at a grey card. Bring up the waveform, change it to RGB, then adjust the CC value next to the Kelvin temp until the three colors align.

@@Crimsonengine In the past i’ve done that with WB, i guess i never thought of that for tint. What i was really looking for or hoping for rather, is to be able to take the reading on the color meter and translate that to tint values without having to use a grey card. But that doesnt seem like an option. I guess theres not a way to know how much - or + tint a reading of 1/4 G or .25 M gives you? Thats what ive been searching for, but it seems to be two different things.

Shooting in a church with large coloured stained glass windows is a particular kind of nightmare.

How did you get RGB parade waveforms on the C200?

Nevermind. Found it. 6th menu item "assistance functions" > number 5 > WFM Type > RGB

New question, Do you normally have your waveforms on RGB, or just in this scenario? I normally have mine on Line+Spot

What would be the result of just WB with the grey card after gel correct the key light, instead of cc the tint values on the camera?

It would be quite similar but not consistent or as accurate (especially if you are doing it for multiple cameras) as manually adjusting the tint & white balance yourself using the rgb histogram and a grey card.

Thought #1: I'm so glad I found this video. I just figured out how to solve an issue that has been driving me crazy. Thought #2: Holy shit I can't believe that thing is $1,600

3:11 You not take out green in scene by add green in camera. What yOu mean for say be “I need add Magenta to the Correction in camera in order to take out green thats in the scene”. White card okay but not necessary in this. This be can perform with meter lot cheaper versus C800. You use good but c800 for more detail use versus this so I will see you next video.
