I had this! Maybe around the early '80s. Watching brought back lots of memories and I can still remember the smell it gave off. Police car was always faster & more stable on my set. I want it back. Thanks for the post. Tipping the bridge so my brother ran into it.. Happy days.

My brother had one of these suckers back in the 80's. In fact he bought a couple of sets. I remember them distinctly at one point they retailed at c £14.99!! can you believe it. This was a tremendous toy far better than anything scaletric had to offer at the time or even now come to think. lights, ramp, u turns......Whoa!!! Why don't Matchbox re issue this race track???? they'd sell in droves - thanks for posting!!

race and chase was released again in the mid 90's and i still have it. the cars would fish tail.

I had to tune my tyco cars to work with this track and i managed them to make the turns almost everytime, little more skill factor wasn´t that bad, tyco formula cars didn´t have the mass so I compensated with toy car chassis and little coins... I wish I could get the original ones somewhere, also the bridge is missing...best track that I´ve ever raced. Thanks for the video!

i used to have that here in the uk around 1980...exactly the same except the uk had a different box cover...

i had one of these....one day i burned some paper on the ramp for a courageous 'flame jump'....which worked great...unfortunately when the paper burned down it burnt a hole in the ramp.......it was the death of that set...though i still have it and it is still in the loft.....xD

WOW, that takes me back to christmas 1978, the best fucking present an 8 year old could have(normal Scalectrix seemed boring compared to this). I notice the lights on the police car don't work....great condition tho. Sadly my dad took mine and a box load of Star Wars toys to a charity shop when I left home......WHAT AN ARSHOLE!!!!....gutted.

@CyberDashFleaCom ..cars are all toast i'm afraid!!...we also had the le mans 24hr set, so all told there was a white jaguar xj6, jaegermiester porsche, cop car and i think a trans am or something...and they, and about three sets of scalextric all died honourable deaths....the sets are still in their boxes, but are so tatty i don't think they are worth anything but memories.....especially to send them from the UK!!.. : )

do u colect these cars???? i buy mine from rite aid. if u want one that goes like 15 miles per hour ( the speed a 7 grader runs) then take the shel of the car of and just have the base itle go twice as fast.
