Fantastic job on the glass Paul; there was more paint on the glass than on the bodies. The colour on the red came out *very* close to the original. I had both of these as a kid, nice little castings.

Great job Paul !... Haha ! found my self holding my breath as you were affixing the waterslide transfers ! - Just as I used to when building Airfix models ! I used to have the golden VW Monte Carlo Rally model ? But mine seemed to be a paler golden colour - Liked your colour better I must say ! - Had a warmth to it ! All the best !

Hallo Paul, sehr gute Restauration. Aber es sind auch leider 2 Fehler im Modell ''Herbie'' vorhanden. In den Filmen wurden immer ''Käfer'' der Baujahre 1961 und 1962 verwendet. (Mit kleiner Nummernschild-Beleuchtung - ''Nase'') Man hätte auch das Faltschiebedach mit einer dünnen grauen Plastikfolie imitieren können. Das wäre dann authentisch zum Original. Trotzdem, eine sehr gute Arbeit.

Another superb restoration Paul....I was wondering if you could give me some details on the products you use for casting moulds? I have a couple of projects coming up that will need replacement tyres and I think it's time I gave it a go;).......kind regards PJ

Thank you very much. When it comes to foundry silicone it is called mm940. It belongs to hard silicones. I use two activators for it: red which is fast binds up to 3 hours and blue which is free, binds up to 6 hours. When it comes to filling these silicones with tires, I use two-component FC 52 resin - for regular Wheels hard wheels. However, for soft wheels I use soft plastic poured hot at 160 to 180 degrees, or polyurethane whose setting time is 30 minutes. When using it, degassing and thorough mixing are important. good luck and best regards

Something is wrong. The white Herbie is not a Superfast-Model. But on your box it is declared as a Superfast-Model. But anyway very good restoration.
